Using tendon vibration allowed the identification of two distinct postural proprioceptive strategies. Plastic individuals were able to reweight signals based on support stability, while rigid athletes maintained an ankle steered strategy regardless of the signal reliability rising from the ankle. The latter implies suboptimal postural performance associated with poorer proprioceptive reintegration abilities. During sidestep cutting maneuvers, rigid subjects exhibited low pre-activation of the semitendinosus, coupled with increased activity of the vastus lateralis during the stance phase and ankle kinematics reflecting higher risk for ACL injury. Lack of proprioceptive plasticity influences athletes’ motor behavior and leads to at-risk biomechanics for ACL injury.

","PeriodicalId":35491,"journal":{"name":"Kinesitherapie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142040022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although only one in ten low back pain patients suffers from NSCLBP, it represents up to 80 % of healthcare costs for this disease. NSCLBP is the leading cause of work absenteeism, and healthcare costs have tripled over the past 40 years. Many therapies and techniques are being developed and studied, including Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT), which provides a new approach based on a precise assessment and awareness of all dimensions of the condition.

The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of CFT among physical therapists and to identify the determinants of its importance in their practice.

Method

A literature review followed by a questionnaire administered to licensed physical therapists and physical therapy students.

Results

In all, 80% of physical therapy students and 67.9% of licensed physical therapists surveyed were not familiar with CFT. Among the licensed physical therapists, more than 50% frequently use this therapy and find it effective in treating NSCLBP. Among the students, 93.1% were interested in studying this therapy as part of their initial training. The lack of training among physical therapists in this area and the importance of patient impact as a barrier to CFT may explain its limited use in practice. The main limitations of this therapy are described by the study's authors.

","PeriodicalId":35491,"journal":{"name":"Kinesitherapie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142039679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have also shown that the algorithms for automatic adjustment of the main ventilatory parameters are currently very heterogeneous and all raise important concerns. Independently of the ventilatory parameters, we have also highlighted the major impact of the configuration of the ventilation circuits on the efficiency of NIV. Finally, in the most severely affected and ventilator-dependent patients, we identified that quality of life, the main target of long-term ventilation, is more likely to be explained by the social and material environment than by the ventilation technique itself (invasive or non-invasive).

Discussion

Technological innovations in the field of home ventilation are constantly opening up new possibilities, making their evaluation and optimization an ongoing and sustainable clinical challenge.

","PeriodicalId":35491,"journal":{"name":"Kinesitherapie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142040050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
