{"title":"Phenols in Tobacco Leaves and Tobacco Smoke / Über die phenolischen Inhaltsstoffe des Tabaks und des Tabakrauches","authors":"K. These constituents are summarized in 2 tables. The leaf contains mainly quinic acid esters of hydroxy-cinnamic acids (chlorogenic acids), flavonol-glycosides, and hydroxy-coumarins. Main constituents are chlorogenic acid and rutin. Tobacco smoke does not contain these compounds, but a number of simpler phenols and phenol ethers, and phenolic acids. Besides this paper describes the transformation of plant phenols by the curing of tobacco, such as the formation of brown complex products from chlorogenic acid and rutin. Results obtained by different authors concerning the filling capacity of tobacco leaves are summarized. The following important conditions of measuring the filling capacity of cigarette tobacco are not yet fully satisfied: a)a method by which numerical and reproducible values can be obtained concerning the firmness of cigarettes. It is used to show the whereabout of nicotine of a plain Blend cigarette. Benzopyrene and total phenols of main and sidestream smoke were determined. 10.5 % of the cigarette's total nicotine content were found in the mainstream smoke and 28.2 % in the sidestream smoke. The mainstream smoke contained 1.19 ppm and the sidestream smoke 2.51 ppm benzopyrene, both referred to dry condensate. Schmidt","doi":"10.2478/cttr-2013-0074","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2478/cttr-2013-0074","url":null,"abstract":"Beim Redryverfahren handelt es sich nicht um ein Fermentationsverfahren, sondern um eine Methode der Konditionierung mittels der Redrymaschine von hellfarbeneo und zuckerhaltigen heißluftgetrockneten Virgintabaken, die zur Gruppe der \"sauren Tabake\" gehören. Die Temperaturen, die bei der Heißlufttrocknung zur Anwendung ·gelangen, liegen bei der Blattvergilbung .im Bereich von 3.5-40° C, bei der Blattrocknung um 500 C und während der letzten Phase, der Rippentrocknung, bei maximal 75-800 C, wobei die Gesamtzeit, die für die Trocknungsvorgänge benötigt wird, 2 bis ; Tage beträgt. Beim Redryverfahren, das sich nach einer gewissen ZwischenZeit der Heißlufttrocknung anschließt, werden die nochmals nachgetrockneten Tabake Temperaturen von So bis :tooO C ausgesetzt, wieder befeuchtet und abgekühlt und verlassen die Maschine mit einer Temp~ratur von ca. 400 C und einem Wassergehalt von :16-:18%. Die Zeitdauer für die Redry. behandlung hängt von der Länge der Maschine und der Transportgeschwindigkeit ab. Nach der Redrybehandlung werden die Tabake verballt oder in Holzfässern verpackt und verbleiben nach ihrem Umschlag in klimaüberwachten Räumen bis zur Verarbeitung.
