Courtois","doi":"10.7202/1077530AR","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7202/1077530AR","url":null,"abstract":"Dans un contexte mondial de plus en plus tendu depuis les evenements du 11 septembre 2001 ou de simples caricatures satiriques ont seme la controverse et ont meme declenche des attaques terroristes, la question se pose de savoir si les religions possedent le droit d’etre protegees contre le blaspheme et les expressions offensantes Le present texte entend repondre a cette question par la negative. Il montre que les lois contre le blaspheme sont tombees en desuetude dans la plupart des democraties liberales et que les principales justifications connues avancees en leur faveur sont mal fondees. Il tente ensuite de solutionner deux problemes importants qui decoulent de cette position. Le premier est de savoir comment repondre au sentiment d’outrage des croyants une fois que la criminalisation ou la prohibition des offenses ne sont plus des options disponibles. Rousseau","doi":"10.7202/1071138ar","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7202/1071138ar","url":null,"abstract":"La recherche de formes de retablissement a la suite d’evenements difficiles, voire traumatiques, implique souvent de considerer la parole comme un moteur de transformation personnelle et sociale. A partir de preoccupations ethiques et epistemologiques d’une chercheuse non autochtone menant une recherche collaborative au sujet des disparitions et des assassinats de femmes et de filles autochtones en Abitibi-Temiscamingue, cet article interroge plus precisement l’association frequente entre l’expression du souvenir et la recherche d’un « mieux-etre ». Apres avoir introduit les assises de cette recherche, qui se fonde sur l’oralite comme mode de transmission des savoirs entre generations, j’explorerai certaines conceptions du mieux-etre et de la guerison tirees de la litterature scientifique autochtone. Puis, a partir du postulat relationnel au fondement du pouvoir du storytelling chez les Premieres Nations, je revelerai deux conceptions des recits-histoires : l’une les concevant comme des « medecines » qui rassemblent les forces des ancetres, l’autre les traitant comme des enseignements valorisant l’identite culturelle et les savoirs traditionnels. {"title":"WILL CARBON TAXES HELP ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE?","authors":"Kian Mintz‐Woo","doi":"10.7202/1083645ar","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7202/1083645ar","url":null,"abstract":"The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis ought to serve as a reminder about the costs of failure to consider another long-term risk, climate change. For this reason, it is imperative to consider the merits of policies that may help to limit climate damages. This essay rebuts three common objections to carbon taxes: (1) that they do not change behaviour, (2) that they generate unfair burdens and increase inequality, and (3) that fundamental, systemic change is needed instead of carbon taxes.
