Again, since the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) is also a distribution management problem, any VRP solving algorithm must consider the fairness when solutions are explored. However, most of the proposed VRP solving algorithms do not take this issue into consideration. In this paper, we raise this issue with sufficient evidences. In this course of action, following contributions are made in this paper: i) fairness issue is raised analytically, and to support this, an extensive simulation campaign is performed, ii) the VRP is discussed through a practical application, namely Garbage Collection Problem (GCP), and later it is mathematically formulated, iii) a Genetic Algorithm (GA) is employed to explore feasible solutions for the given application (i.e., GCP), and iv) some future research directives are noted, which will help the researchers to extend this work.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126483764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dispatch of oil spill resources is an integral part of the marine oil spill emergency response system. Rational selection of resource storage locations and transport routes play a crucial role in providing timely and reliable emergency response to oil spill incident. In this paper, a multi-objective resource dispatching model that minimizing the number of storage locations required to response as well as the total response time considering resource priorities. A solution algorithm is also provided. At last, a numerical experiment is conducted to verify the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125786933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ADAS can be divided into two categories: (1) vehicle lateral control assist whose actuation comes from power steering system, and (2) vehicle longitudinal control assist whose actuation comes from powertrain propulsion system and braking system. This paper proposes a two degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) controller architecture for an electric power steering system to achieve the function of the active steering angle control, integrated with upper-level supervisory control strategy implemented in lane following system (LFS). Also, we demonstrate its advantages over a one degree-of-freedom (1-DOF) controller structure. The vehicle dynamics with different active steering angle control architectures are analyzed to improve the angle control performance in lane following system. Furthermore, the active angle control algorithm was realized with an embedded-DSP and validated in a prototype vehicle.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115549229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes a semantic web vision for an intelligent community transport service brokering system. The use of ontological approach to develop a semantic web brokering system opens up the data set for agent-based planning in reservation and scheduling. As ontologies are the building blocks of the semantic web and small simple ontologies are often constructed individually by different users, ontology integration approach is proposed to achieve data interoperability in the proposed system. An application scenario is used to demonstrate how the semantic web based system will be used. Future research of this project is to construct the community transport service ontology to conduct proof of concept for the intelligent brokering system.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130502454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dense disparity map is utilized to improve the pedestrian detection performance. Our method consists of several steps namely, obstacle area detection using road feature information and column detection, pedestrian area detection using dense disparity map-based segmentation, and pedestrian detection using optimal feature. The first step is to detect all obstacle areas using column detection and pedestrian height information. However, there are many objects in single obstacle area. Thus each obstacle area needs to be separated into single object for improving pedestrian detection performance. Thus, the second step is performed to segment the detected obstacle area. The last step is to detect only pedestrian using classifier trained by optimal feature. The optimal feature is extracted by positive and negative training images. ETH database is utilized to evaluate our proposed pedestrian detection method.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115337772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design of routing protocols in VANETs is a significant and necessary issue for supporting VANET-based applications. However, due to high mobility, frequent link disconnection, and uneven distribution of vehicles, it becomes quite challenging to establish a robust route for delivering packets. This paper presents a novel routing protocol called artificial spider-web based geographic routing protocol (ASGR) to address these problems by selecting the optimal route according to the information of the paths (e.g. connectivity, delay and number of hops) through the use of artificial spiders. By constructing the spider-web and path tree, ASGR can find a robust route to the destination taking the route connectivity, path delay and total number of hops into consideration. Simulation results show that our ASGR outperforms GyTAR and STAR in terms of packet delivery ratio (PDR) and end-to-end delay (E2ED) with the number of nodes and packets generation interval varying.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133432391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A case study of Montreal showcase the approach for two key indicators: vehicle's vibrations, and noise levels. Cross comparisons to London (U.K.) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) were used to characterize the degree of comfort measured in Montreal's mass transportation system. It was found that the automobile is the most comfortable mode, explaining its popularity. The data showed that, the number of stops is the most important factor affecting total vibration levels, and hence the comfort of buses and trains. Noise was found to be linked to vehicle's vibrations. Newer metro cars in London and Dominican Republic showed better comfort levels, suburban trains in Montreal performed better and close to their counterparts in the United Kingdom. Express bus line was more comfortable than the local bus, performing better in the level of vibrations and noise.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126342178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we aim to develop a method to identify the trip purpose of passenger flow who have trips to commercial district. While the same region always has the different functions, it is fairly challenging to identify travel patterns for individual transit riders in a large dataset. To this end, we use the Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm to generate users' trip topic. And then, with the extraction of user topic distribution as the eigenvectors of the user, we cluster users into groups that have different trip purposes. The performance of the algorithm is compared with those of other prevailing classification algorithms. The results indicate that the proposed method outperforms other commonly used data-mining algorithms in terms of accuracy and efficiency.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128031827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the transport system has become more complex. Therefore, building Advanced Travelers Information Systems (ATIS) that provide passengers with pre-trip information on navigating through the network has become a certain need. Since passengers do not only seek a short-time travel but they endeavor to optimize several criteria such as comfort and effort, an efficient routing system should incorporate a multiobjective analysis for both routes and transport modes. We aim in this paper at proposing a new formulation for representing a multimodal network. Based on this formulation, we develop a routing algorithm to compute the entire set of nondominated solutions to go from one place to another. As transport modes, we use railway, Bus, Tram, Metro, Pedestrian, Road and Bike. As optimization criteria, we use travel time, number of changes and walking time. Experimental results have been assessed by solving real life itinerary problems defined on the transport network of the city of Paris and its suburbs. Results indicate that the proposed approach is efficient enough to be integrated within a real world journey-planning system.","PeriodicalId":352958,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121021205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
