The prevalence of UI in women varies from 4.8% to 58.4% in the world and has increased markedly in the recent decade, as revealed by a longitudinal population-based survey (2). Medical costs associated with UI are considerable, with annual expenditures similar to those on other chronic diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis in women, (3).The most common type of UI is stress urinary incontinence (SUI), defined by the International Continence Society as ‘‘the complaint of involuntary leakage on effort or exertion, or on sneezing or coughing,’’ accounting for almost 50% of cases in premenopausal women (4,5).","PeriodicalId":351803,"journal":{"name":"medical journal of islamic world academy of sciences","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125196410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It occurs in one of 2000–2500 live births (1, 2). Trigonocephaly is a form of craniosynostosis arising from the premature fusion and ossification of the metopic suture, which separates the two frontal bones and physiologically closes at 3–8 months of age (3, 4). Described first by Welcker in 1862, trigonocephaly is a Greek term meaning triangular forehead. Metopic synostosis occurs in between 1/700 and 1/15.000 newborns (5, 6). This results in a skull with a triangular forehead and deficient lateral orbital rims add to the supraorbital retrusion and bitemporal indentations. The growth restriction results in decreased intracranial volume. Thus, a surgical intervention is indicated to restore the volume of the skull along with appearance (7). This study aimed to present the case of a child born with trigonocephaly who was operated at 6 months of age with bifrontal craniotomy and fronto-orbital advancement.","PeriodicalId":351803,"journal":{"name":"medical journal of islamic world academy of sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116049441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They eat not only during pre-set mealtime, but also in the leisure time (1,2,3). A food that is high in fat, sodium, and/or sugar, provides high calories, but is of no value, is generally known as a “junk food.” Junk food seems attractive and is easy to prepare, carry, purchase, and consume. Common junk food includes fast food (burgers, pizzas, patties, nuggets, and so forth), chips, candy, sweet desserts, as well as aerated beverages (1,4). The terms fast food and junk food are often used interchangeably (5). Ingredients of the junk foods give them a good taste, making them addictive, and pose many health hazards.","PeriodicalId":351803,"journal":{"name":"medical journal of islamic world academy of sciences","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129873379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the discovery and development of new potent and selective anticancer drugs are of high importance in modern cancer research. Schiff bases containing the C=N group play a very important role in many biological activities. They have been found to possess anticancer (1,2), antimicrobial (3), antitubercular (4), antiinflammatory and anlgesic (5), antiviral (6), and pesticidal (7) properties. Not only the Schiff bases, but also Schiff base complexes with transition metals have been investigated for their anticancer activities against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cells in Swiss albino mice (8,9). Recently, the anticancer activities of some semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones against EAC cells have been reported (10-12). The aim of the present study was to explore the anticancer properties of two Schiff bases, namely benzoin thiosemicarbazone (BTSC) and para-anisaldehyde semicarbazone (PAS).","PeriodicalId":351803,"journal":{"name":"medical journal of islamic world academy of sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129128455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These nodules may occur with follicles junction that is full of colloid or they may occur with less adenoma or cysts. A 5% nodular goiter incidence is seen at nonendemic regions and 15% at endemic regions (1). Nodules, which are larger than 1 cm, can only be realized with palpation at physical examination. Although these nodules are asymptomatic, they may cause symptoms when their sizes become larger. So, for the training purpose, this study aims to study a real huge nodular goiter incidence case that is rarely seen nowadays.","PeriodicalId":351803,"journal":{"name":"medical journal of islamic world academy of sciences","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114472626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
