Consequently, identifying an effective therapeutic regimen is necessary for tumor progression in cancer at the molecular level due to genetic changes in various signaling pathways that regulate the biological processes involved during carcinogenesis. WNT and TGF-β signaling have been widely identified in several studies, with regards to the interaction of both in pulmonary tumorigenesis although they have not been adequately reviewed clearly. Hence, an assessment of 10 research articles was conducted online through the MeSH PubMed database with the keywords “Receptors, Wnt/Wnt Signaling Pathway/Wnt Proteins” AND “Receptors, Transforming Growth Factor beta/Transforming Growth Factor beta” AND “Lung Neoplasms/Small Cell Lung Carcinoma/Carcinoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung”, to compile an overview of the crosstalk. Furthermore, the crosstalk between WNT and TGF-β signaling regulates the programming of Cancer Stem Cell (CSC) and Epithelial–Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) during tumorigenesis and prognosis of lung cancer that leads to metastasis, increased aggressiveness, and tumor chemoresistance. The crosstalk of WNT and TGF-β signaling in lung cancer can occur directly at the level of their transcription complex or by involving an important mediator, most of which is played by microRNA. There are several microRNAs identified in regulating crosstalk between WNT signaling and TGF-β, such as miR-1827, miR-3127-5p, and miR-128-3p. The discussion implies a high opportunity for the simultaneous and effective suppression of both WNT and TGF-β pathways by targeting a molecule that has the potential for lung cancer.","PeriodicalId":351729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Clinical Pharmacy","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127199500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, it is important to monitor the use of atypical antipsychotic for metabolic disturbance. The purpose of this study is to determine the side effects of atypical antipsychotics in increasing body weight in schizophrenia patients after 4 weeks of use. Furthermore, a retrospective design was conducted and data were collected based on consecutive sampling in 80 adult psychiatric inpatients (20 women and 60 men) with initial diagnoses of schizophrenia and with the same daily nutrition. The patients were hospitalized from January to March 2019, within the term (over 4 weeks) of initiation atypical antipsychotic. The patient body weight was collected before and 4 weeks after the treatment of atypical antipsychotic. The results showed that patients (20 women and 60 men) receiving atypical antipsychotic had a mean age of 35.6 years and a percentage of 70% women and 56% men had a weight gain of 1–5 kg over 4 weeks. The mean weight observed among our subjects increased from 57.55±10.743 kg to 59.83±12.205 kg after initiating treatment (p=0.001). However, the dual combination of atypical antipsychotics risperidone and clozapine are the most widely atypical antipsychotic used with a percentage equal to 91.25%, 3.75% clozapine, and 5% risperidone. Furthermore, it can be concluded that atypical antipsychotics use for at least 4 weeks can cause weight gain in schizophrenic patients. Pharmacist and doctors are recommended to monitor the metabolic side effects due to the atypical antipsychotic use. Keywords: Atypical antipsycotic, schizophrenia, weight gain  Antipsikotik Atipikal Menginduksi Peningkatan Berat Badan pada Pasien Skizofrenia AbstrakAntipsikotik atipikal banyak diresepkan dan berpotensi menyebabkan kenaikan berat badan yang dapat menyebabkan sindrom metabolik. According to earlier evidence, this possessed antibacterial, antifungal and several biological properties, reduced blood glucose and atherogenic parameter, and is developed as standardized herbal cures. However, the application of herbal medicine requires validating evidence of safety and effectiveness, including toxicity tests, particularly in clinical settings. The target organs in this comprised hepar, due to the role in several drug metabolism. This study aimed at discovering the safety profile of kapulaga seed extract based on the hepatic transaminase enzyme (SGOT and SGPT) level, by conducting an acute toxicity test in Winstar rats. Also, this was implemented with the OECD 420 Fixed-Dose Procedure, and the preliminary test employed 300 mg/kg BW dose followed by a maximum single quantity (2000 mg/kg BW) of kapulaga. The main test was executed by a separation into control and treatment groups of 5 rats each. Therefore, a single dose of 2000 mg/kg BW kapulaga seed extract was administered to the treatment group, while the control group received standard pellets and water ad libitum. The blood from orbital vein was acquired on day 14, and SGOT and SGPT were subsequently assessed by an enzymatic-photometric method. Also, this data was analyzed using an independent sample t-test, and the mean of SGOT in both groups were 116.92±22.35 and 98.02±16.38 (p=0.17), with 58.72±8.79 and 47.64±7.30 (p=0.06) as SGPT respectively. Therefore, there was no statistical difference, and no acute toxicity signs were discovered. The maximum dose was not toxic and did not result in poisonous symptoms or alter hepatic transaminase enzyme (SGOT and SGPT) in rats.","PeriodicalId":351729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Clinical Pharmacy","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129886665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, this is efficiently mitigated with material and design developments of IOL and surgical techniques. This study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of hydrophilic to hydrophobic acrylic IOL to enhance VA and mitigate PCO and Nd:YAG laser occurrence within 3 years after cataract surgery. This research employed analytic observational method and retrospective cohort design. Also, the subjects had experienced cataract surgery and the IOL implantation at “Dr.Yap” Eye Hospital Yogyakarta between June 2016 and December 2018, met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and gave consent. The effectivity parameters included VA, the PCO incidence, and Neodymium: Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (Nd: YAG) laser, analyzed using the Chi-Square test and t-test (normal distribution) and Mann-Whitney test (non-normal distribution). The result indicated hydrophobic and hydrophilic IOL possessed VA elevation of 0.68±0.44 and 0.56±0.35 respectively, with no significant difference between both groups (p=0.111). Also, the PCO occurrence in hydrophobic IOL 12 (19.7%) was significantly lower compared to hydrophilic IOL at 32 (52.5%) (p=0.022), while Nd:YAG laser in hydrophobic IOL was 3 (4.18%) lesser than the hydrophilic IOL, 15 (24.59%) (p=0.040). However, although both IOLs were effective in enhancing VA, hydrophobic IOL was better in mitigating PCO and Nd:YAG laser occurrences compared to hydrophilic IOL.","PeriodicalId":351729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Clinical Pharmacy","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127342166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, vitamin B combination is effective as a neuropathy treatment due to nerve repair acceleration by enhancing regeneration and restoring function, while individuals with type 2 DM are inseparable from vitamin D deficiency. This study aimed to measure diabetic neuropathy pain reduction in patients with type 2 DM by administration of additional vitamin D to standard therapy. This was a quasi-experimental study employing non-equivalent control group method on 77 patients selected using consecutive sampling at Bethesda Hospital Yogyakarta between December 2019 and February 2020. In addition, the subjects consisted of 48 men and 29 women, and were divided into 4 therapy groups executed within 1–3 months comprising (I) symptomatic therapy only; (II) symptomatic combination therapy with vitamin B; (III) symptomatic combination therapy with vitamin D; and (IV) symptomatic combination therapy with vitamin B-vitamin D. The pain assessment employed Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) prior and after administration, and demographic characteristics data between the 4 groups lacked noteworthy differences. The results indicated decreased pain intensity after therapy with the mean VAS in group I from 53.36±14.65 to 42.27±17.16, group II from 50.56±12.11 to 13.89±14.61, group III from 50.77±15.98 to 19.23±18.09, and group IV from 54.55±16.35 to 7.27±6.47.
