Depression and anxiety are the most prevalent conditions, disproportionately affecting low-income countries, where 80% of cases are reported. In Latin America, mental disorders are a primary cause of disability, underscoring the need for complementary treatment approaches such as physiotherapy.</div></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><div>This study evaluates the impact of physiotherapy on the mental health of retired older adults.</div></div><div><h3>Materials and methods</h3><div>A cross-sectional study was conducted in a geriatric clinic in Querétaro, involving 213 older adults. Data were collected between February and April 2023 and analyzed with IBM SPSS v.25. The Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression were employed to assess the association between physiotherapy and mental health, with a 95% confidence interval and a significance level of 0.05.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>Among participants, 44.1% had a mental disorder, yet only 24.2% engaged in physiotherapy. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant association between physiotherapy and better mental health outcomes (<em>P</em>=.001), with an odds ratio of 0.30 (95% CI: 0.146-0.615), suggesting that physiotherapy lowers the risk of developing mental health issues.</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>The findings indicate that physiotherapy may serve as a protective factor against mental disorders in older adults. Little has been investigated regarding the chronic response to different altitudes above sea level.</div></div><div><h3>Aim</h3><div>This study aimed to describe the clinical condition and physiological response to performing the 6MWT at different altitudes above sea level and, subsequently, to describe the correlation with distance traveled in a population of patients diagnosed with COPD living in four Colombian cities.</div></div><div><h3>Materials and methods</h3><div>A cross-sectional study in patients with COPD diagnosis belonging to the pulmonary rehabilitation department of the four Colombian cities located at different altitudes above sea level. Sociodemographic, clinical and related variables were linked to the 6MWT.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>A total of 268 patients participated with a mean age of 71.1<!--> <!-->±<!--> <!-->10.16. The distance covered in all the patients in the 6MWT was 376.4<!--> <!-->±<!--> <!-->117.5, higher in medium altitude 466.7<!--> <!-->±<!--> <!-->66.2 p-value<!--> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.000. Desaturation was higher in the mid-altitude group. Bimanual intensive therapy (HABIT) and bimanual intensive therapy including lower extremities (HABIT-ILE) are used to stimulate bimanual coordination through structured movements and activities that require the use of both hands with control of the trunk and lower extremities in children with unilateral spastic CP. The objective of the review is to analyse the scientific evidence of HABIT and HABIT-ILE on manual function in children with CP.</div></div><div><h3>Material and method</h3><div>A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Randomised clinical trials and before-after studies focusing on HABIT and HABIT-ILE for the treatment of impaired manual skills in children with CP were selected. We used the tool proposed by the Cochrane Handbook to analyse the risk of bias. The last search was conducted on 3 May 2024.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>Significant improvements were found in bimanual skill performance but not in palmar strength. Combining HABIT or HABIT-ILE with other therapies may improve manual skill outcomes..</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>HABIT or HABIT-ILE therapy can improve manual function in children with CP, functional Independence and quality of life. Additionally, to assess the relationship between electromyography (EMG) results and perceived pain in both hands.</div></div><div><h3>Method</h3><div>A prospective observational study of CTS patients with EMG results, who completed two questionnaires: the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) to quantify PC, and the McGill Pain Questionnaire to assess pain. For the latter, only the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used due to the difficulty patients faced in selecting the most appropriate term.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>A total of 74 subjects with CTS were studied. The intensity of pain and the severity of median nerve injury were not statistically significant in the right hand (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.925) or the left hand (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.270). A positive association was found between the PCS and pain in the right hand (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.011) and in the left hand (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.050). The relationship of the results between both hands was statistically significant for both EMG (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.001) and pain (<em>p</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.000).</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>Pain in CTS is determined by PC rather than the severity of nerve injury. The following case was treated simultaneously by psychiatry, neurosurgery, psychology and physiotherapy, showing rapid and considerable improvement, recognizing the importance of multidisciplinary treatments to address mental pathologies.</div></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><div>To analyze the case of a 36-year-old patient with severe depression and consequently attempted suicide who received multidisciplinary care.</div></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><div>Informed consent was obtained from the patient and the EQUATOR guideline corresponding to the type of studies (CARE) was followed.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>The patient was under psychiatric treatment for 3 months without improvement. She was prescribed multidisciplinary treatment, including physiotherapy intervention. Ten physiotherapy sessions were ordered with the following protocols: cervical spine and TMJ mobilization exercises, cold/heat therapy, ultrasound and electrotherapy. Ten sessions of psychological therapy accompanied by medical treatment for pain and muscle tension were also ordered. Second victims have been defined as the actors in charge of providing any health service and those who participate in some way in an adverse event. Impacting clinical care processes, lengthening hospital stay and lower job satisfaction.</div></div><div><h3>Objectives</h3><div>Determine the relationship between working conditions and their elevation with adverse events and second victims in physiotherapy professionals due to the Covid-19 pandemic in a high complexity hospital in Bogotá, Colombia.</div></div><div><h3>Methodology</h3><div>Cross-sectional analytical study in which surveys were applied to investigate working conditions, presence of adverse events and perception of a second victim in 2021. Descriptive and bivariate analyzes were carried out using the SPSS v statistical software. 25.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>The results It was observed that 46.6% (n<!--> <!-->=<!--> <!-->7) of professionals who experienced adverse events in the last year also presented work exhaustion. However, a small percentage, 3.8% (n<!--> <!-->=<!--> <!-->1) indicated having committed an adverse event without feeling exhausted or having burnout syndrome.</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>it was possible to identify a high percentage of physiotherapists who presented work exhaustion. The evaluation of levels of job satisfaction is of vital importance both for the workers themselves and for the companies in which they work. The objective of this study is to know the job satisfaction of physiotherapists who work in the public sphere of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands in addition to analyzing the relationship of job satisfaction with other social and work variables.</div></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><div>A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out. Physiotherapists were included who will provide their care in the public sector of the community. The sociodemographic variables and the General Satisfaction Scale were recognized. A correlational analysis was carried out between the variables.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>Forty-two physical therapists responded to the survey. The average age of the population was 41.17<!--> <!-->±<!--> <!-->10.03 years and 61.90% were women. The average score of general satisfaction with their work was 65.64<!--> <!-->±<!--> <!-->15.51 points out of a total of 105. Significant differences were found between permanent and temporary staff (<em>P</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->.028).</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>Most physiotherapists working in the SCS have medium-high levels of job satisfaction.
