To assess the level of knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention among mothers in a selected rural area. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention among mothers in a selected rural area. 3. To find out the association between pre-test knowledge scores on child abuse and its prevention among mothers in selected rural area with the selected demographic variables. Material And Methods: Quantitative evaluative research approach was considered appropriate research approach for the present study. Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test research designed is selected for present study. The sampling technique used in this study was non- probability convenient sampling.sample size was 60. Results: 1. Assessment with the level of pre-test knowledge score depicts that 36.6% of the mothers had poor level of knowledge score, 50% had average, 8.3 % had good knowledge score, 3.3%of the mothers had very good level of knowledge score and 1.6% of the mothers had excellent level of knowledge score. Minimum knowledge score in pre-test was 03 and maximum knowledge score in pre-test was 18. Mean knowledge score in pre-test was 07 and mean percentage of knowledge score in pre-test was 11.6%. 2. Assessment with level of pos-t test knowledge score shows that 21.67 of the mother’s good level of knowledge score, 65% had very good level of knowledge score,13.33% of the mothers had excellent. Minimum knowledge score in post-test was 12 and maximum knowledge score in post-test was 25. 3. Comparison of pre-test and post- test knowledge scores of mothers from selected rural area of Maharashtra. Mean, standard deviation and mean difference values are compared and student’s paired ‘t’ test is applied at 5% level of significance. The tabulated value for n=60-1 i.e., 59 degrees of freedom was 59. The calculated ‘t’ value i.e., 7.108 are much higher than the tabulated value at 5% level of significance for overall knowledge score of mothers which is statistically acceptable level of significance. Hence it is statistically interpreted that the Planned Teaching Program on overall knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention among mothers from selected rural area of Maharashtra was effective. Thus, the H1 is accepted. 4. Demographic variable such as age, education, monthly family income, no. of children, any source of information had shown statistically non-significant association with pre- test level of knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention at P whereas occupation, religion and previous knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention are statistically significant association with pre- test level of knowledge regarding child abuse and its prevention at p. Stein and Michael L. Leventhal as a syndrome manifested by amenorrhea, hirsutism and obesity associated with enlarged polycystic ovary, from whom its original name of Stein–Leventhal syndrome is taken. According to recent statistics one fifth of the world’s population is adolescents and in India one third of the population is between the ages of 10 and 24. Adolescence is a period of transition between childhood and adulthood, a time of profound biological, intellectual, psychological and economic changes. During this period individual reaches physical, sexual maturity and develop more sophisticated reasoning abilities. Research Approach: quantitative approach, Research Design: Pre-experimental one group pretest post test design, Participants: 100 adolescent girls aged 18-21 years selected by non probability convenience sampling technique. Intervantion: the structured teaching programme was administered over 40 minutes and post test carried out after 7th day. Tools: Structured knowledge questionnaire and Likert attitude scale. Result: mean score was 1.890 with SD 0.60126. The calculated “t” value CV = 4.662, TV = 1.990 (CV > TV) which was statistically significant at 0.05 level. It showed that, there was a significant difference between the pre and post test of knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls. So Ho1 hypothesis is rejected. Regarding attitude, post test, the mean score was 32.5400 with SD 3.92974. Here the calculated “t” value was CV = 1.425, TV = 1.990 (CV < TV) at 0.05 level. No significant difference between the pre and post test of attitude regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls. So Ho2 hypothesis is accepted. Same as chi square pre test knowledge with the age in years (1.349), marital status (1.662), types of family (1.984), area of residence (1.168), family history (0.702), first source of information (6.34) and age of menarche(2.796 ). It was statically less than table value of age in years, marital status, types of family, area of residence, family history (3.84), first source of information (9.49), and age of menarche (7.81). There is no association between demographic data with knowledge and attitude level. Conclusion: Statistical evidence proved that providing education through S.T.P is improve the knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129719467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is the process of acquiring new knowledge based on recognition of a need to learn. The problem comes first without advance readings, lectures or preparation. Problems should be appropriate to the stage of the curriculum and the level of the students' understanding. Scenarios should have sufficient intrinsic interest for the students or relevance to future practice. Problem Based Learning is one of the advanced teaching strategy where the nurse teacher uses in implementation of students curricular/ academic activity with an aim to achieve sound result of students in solving a problem / scenarios. This may be different kind but it should be student oriented, ultimate goal is to improve the strength of students’ knowledge. Presently this type of strategies were practicing much in educational institution, service developments and research areas.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121524429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
