Objectives: The purpose of the study was to quantify the knowledge of primigravida mothers in labour ward. Materials and method: Quasi experimental design was adopted for the study with the independent variable being the child birth preparation and the dependent variable was level of knowledge of primi gravida mothers on child birth process and coping ability. The tool for data collection was prepared by the investigator and it was validated by experts. Results: In pre-test 75% of mothers were in experimental group and 50% in control group are had inadequate knowledge and 25% of mothers in experimental group and 50% in control group were moderately adequate knowledge where as in post-test the mean level is 29.2 compare to pre-test mean level 17.6 which showed that the structured teaching programme on child birth process was effective and coping ability was better in experimental group than control group. Conclusion: Fear associated with pregnancy and child-birth can have serious consequences. Women, who experience significant fear during the antenatal period, run an increased risk of suffering severe emotional imbalance after the baby is born, which can have negative impact on the relationship between the mother and the child. Child birth preparation, which deals with the information on pre-monitory signs, stages of labour, preparations for labor, relaxation techniques, bearing down techniques should be provided to the mothers for better coping during labour and to have a healthier labour experience.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124566513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 293 patients with influenza like illness were investigated during the course of continuous surveillance on influenza in Pune, India in 2000. The throat/nasal swab specimens collected from these patients were inoculated in MDCK cell culture and influenza types A(H3N2), A(H1N1) and type B strains were isolated. They were identified as similar to the recently prevalent variant strains; A/Sydney/05/97(H3N2), A/New Caledonia/20/99(H1N1) and B/Sichuan/379/99. The latter two were the new variant strains reported for the first time in Pune. It is important to note that A(H1N1) strains were isolated in Pune during 2000 after a gap of 10 years. Since then, H3N2 influenza viruses have rapidly evolved and been the prominent strain in the influenza season, except the Covid pandemic period. Influenza B viruses are classified into lineages. At present, either B/Yamagata or B/Victoria viruses are in circulation. Therefore, unlike Covid, which was first identified in 2019, H3N2 has existed for several decades. Another major difference is that while Covid was caused by SARS CoV-2 virus, H3N2 is a subtype of influenza virus.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116676810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the study were to assess the level of quality of sleep and fatigue, evaluate the effectiveness of Inhalation Aromatherapy, correlate quality of sleep and fatigue, and find the association between quality of sleep and fatigue with demographic variables. Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used for this study. Purposive sampling technique was used and 40 elderly people were taken from the Kripa Charitable Trust, Kannur. In pretest, Modified Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Fatigue Severity Scale were used for assessing the quality of sleep and fatigue. Investigator administered Inhalation Aromatherapy by applying one drop of lavender angustifolia essential oil on a piece of cotton and placed under the pillow at the night before sleep for a period of 5 days. Posttest was done on 6thday. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the findings of the study. The result revealed that the Mean Pretest MPSQI score (10.38) and the Mean Pretest FSS score (43.3) were significantly higher than the Mean Posttest MPSQI score (7.95) and the Mean PosttestFSSscore (40.8). Thecomputed ‘t’valuefor MPSQI was4.38 and FSS score was 2.99 (t39=1.685 at 0.05 level of significance). It indicated that there was a significant increase in the quality of sleep and decrease in level of fatigue after Inhalation Aromatherapy. There was a significant high positive correlation found between pretest quality of sleep and level of fatigue (r=0.849), and no association between quality of sleep and level of fatigue with demographic variables. The findings of the study interpreted that the practice of Inhalation Aromatherapyiseffective in improving the sleep quality and reducing fatigue among elderly residing in old age home.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125297006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stein and Michael L. Leventhal as a syndrome manifested by amenorrhea, hirsutism and obesity associated with enlarged polycystic ovary, from whom its original name of Stein–Leventhal syndrome is taken. According to recent statistics one fifth of the world’s population is adolescents and in India one third of the population is between the ages of 10 and 24. Adolescence is a period of transition between childhood and adulthood, a time of profound biological, intellectual, psychological and economic changes. During this period individual reaches physical, sexual maturity and develop more sophisticated reasoning abilities. Research Approach: quantitative approach, Research Design: Pre-experimental one group pretest post test design, Participants: 100 adolescent girls aged 18-21 years selected by non probability convenience sampling technique. Intervantion: the structured teaching programme was administered over 40 minutes and post test carried out after 7th day. Tools: Structured knowledge questionnaire and Likert attitude scale. Result: mean score was 1.890 with SD 0.60126. The calculated “t” value CV = 4.662, TV = 1.990 (CV > TV) which was statistically significant at 0.05 level. It showed that, there was a significant difference between the pre and post test of knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls. So Ho1 hypothesis is rejected. Regarding attitude, post test, the mean score was 32.5400 with SD 3.92974. Here the calculated “t” value was CV = 1.425, TV = 1.990 (CV < TV) at 0.05 level. No significant difference between the pre and post test of attitude regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls. So Ho2 hypothesis is accepted. Same as chi square pre test knowledge with the age in years (1.349), marital status (1.662), types of family (1.984), area of residence (1.168), family history (0.702), first source of information (6.34) and age of menarche(2.796 ). It was statically less than table value of age in years, marital status, types of family, area of residence, family history (3.84), first source of information (9.49), and age of menarche (7.81). There is no association between demographic data with knowledge and attitude level. Conclusion: Statistical evidence proved that providing education through S.T.P is improve the knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) among adolescent girls.","PeriodicalId":349934,"journal":{"name":"A and V Pub International Journal of Nursing and Medical Research","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129719467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
