{"title":"How to shape the identity of children and youth in the space of a modern school? In the Polish education system problems that determine shaping of young man’s identity are related i.a. with the space of regional and crosscultural education. Their current structure is insufficient – requires changes enabling the coexistence of coinciding each other cultural hybrids that outreach political boundaries. It is the phenomenon that is increasing due to migration and emigration of people caused by COVID pandemic, Russian-Ukrainian war, other conflicts and socio-economic situations. {"title":"Female forms of occupational names (feminativa) – is there a need to use them in sex education?","authors":"K. Waszyńska, Martyna Zachorska, Weronika Klon","doi":"10.16926/pe.2022.15.09","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/pe.2022.15.09","url":null,"abstract":"The paper at issue presents the social functioning of Polish female forms of occupational names (feminativa), as well as their role in the process of sex education, also in relation to perpetration of gender stereotypes. In the first part of the paper, a summary of the historical changes in the usage of feminativa is provided. Next, the usage of feminativa is described in relation to the theoretical basis of sex education, including the development of behavioral patterns. The analysis of linguistic, psychological and psychosexual factors enabled the Authors to show the impact of language on the perception of reality and of the subject’s place within the surrounding environment. Moreover, the Authors conducted the analysis of the role of feminativa in identity construction and in gender discrimination prevention. The paper at issue presents the cultural contexts of language use and its importance for the wellbeing of an individual. {"title":"Universal philosophical education as an opportunity on de-ideologization of education in Poland? On the need and prospects of a new educational paradigm – in dialogue with Maciej Woźniczka","authors":"Michał Płóciennik","doi":"10.16926/pe.2022.15.04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/pe.2022.15.04","url":null,"abstract":"Maciej Woźniczka’s book is quite a radical reaction to the crisis of Polish education, one of the symptoms of which is the almost total marginalization of philosophical education – optionally possible, but virtually absent in real terms. The author makes an in-depth diagnosis of the Polish education system in the context of the tension between ideas and ideologies, observing its ideologizing deformations on three planes: worldview, ideology, and politics. As a remedy for this state of affairs, he proposes the introduction of universal and obligatory philosophical education, based on a previously culturally awakened need of philosophy, from school to academic education. In the author's intention, the issue is about the necessity to change the educational paradigm towards one that corresponds to worldview pluralism, in which real and universal philosophical education should play a key role. This presentation is an attempt to look at the philosophical and educational reflection of Woźniczka, to show its strengths and weaknesses, to assess the opportunities for conceptual and practical application, to indicate internal tensions and paradoxes that govern it, and to signal development prospects. The aim of research is to present the inspiration from Gabriel Marcel’s thought for pedagogical reflection mutual relation between peace and education. The main research problem is analysis of the importance of the issue of peace that is present in the philosophy of Gabriel Marcel for reflection on personal development and education. The reflection process was conducted on the basis of an content analysis based in particular on Gabriel Marcel’s speech delivered on the occasion of the award Prix de la Pax granted by Union des Libraires allemands in 1964. The results of the analysis show that the source of peace is a genuine community between people. This spirit of community is manifested when each person finds in other person real existential qualities and values, when each person considers to be a value for the meaningfulness of its own being. {"title":"Coronavirus Generation as a legacy from the COVID-19 disease pandemic(?) – an attempt to characterize","authors":"Lucyna Myszka-Strychalska","doi":"10.16926/pe.2022.15.12","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/pe.2022.15.12","url":null,"abstract":"The article attempts to answer the question: “How has the experience of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic and the COVID-19 disease it causes contributed to shaping the Coronavirus Generation among adolescents?” Based on the review of the results of research on academic youth and young adults, which were carried out during the pandemic period, published in selected scientific articles, reports and internet sources, a description of changes taking place in various areas of their lives (such as: interpersonal relations, internal life, development personal, professional career, education, health, housing and material situation) and outlined the expected features that could define the representatives of the new generation. {"title":"Selfie in the opinions of respondents in the Polish-Czech borderlands","authors":"K. The main objective of my research took the form of questions: — how much of the study group takes selfies and posts them on social media? — how much does possible satisfaction/lack of satisfaction with life result in taking a selfie? Research strategy: two groups of students: from Poland and the Czech Republic. Purposive random selection. The research method is a diagnostic survey, the technique is a questionnaire, while the tool is a survey questionnaire consisting of extensive 15 questions. I found it interesting to compare the two groups of respondents, that is, young people from Poland and the Czech Republic. I tried to find out why they do so and whether it is due to, for example, satisfaction with life.
