However, traditional RGB cameras exhibit a significant decline in performance when capturing nighttime traffic scenes, limiting their effectiveness in supporting ITS. In contrast, event cameras possess a high dynamic range (140 dB vs. 60 dB for traditional cameras), enabling them to overcome frame degradation in low-light conditions. Recently, multimodal learning paradigms have made substantial progress in various vision tasks, such as image-text retrieval. Motivated by this progress, we propose an adaptive selection and fusion detection method that leverages both event and RGB frame domains to optimize nighttime traffic object detection jointly. To address the challenge of unbalanced multimodal data fusion, we design a learnable adaptive selection and fusion module. This module performs feature ranking and fusion in the channel dimension, allowing efficient multimodal fusion. Additionally, we construct a novel multi-level feature pyramid network based on multimodal attention fusion. This network extracts potential features to enhance robustness in detecting nighttime traffic objects. Furthermore, we curate a dataset for nighttime traffic scenarios comprising RGB frames and corresponding event streams. Through experiments, we demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms current state-of-the-art techniques in event-based, frame-based, and event and frame fusion methods. This highlights the effectiveness of integrating the event and frame domains in enhancing nighttime traffic object detection.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34602,"journal":{"name":"Fundamental Research","volume":"5 4","pages":"Pages 1633-1644"},"PeriodicalIF":6.2,"publicationDate":"2025-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135654954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the molecular mechanism of PODNL1, a novel member of SLRP family, in glioma remains largely unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate its correlation with clinical factors by glioma cohort and to identify the molecular mechanisms of aberrant PODNL1 gene expression in glioma. Our findings revealed that both PODNL1 mRNA and protein levels were markedly upregulated in glioma tissues, and high PODNL1 mRNA level was significantly associated with poor prognosis of glioma patients. In functional assays, PODNL1 knockdown significantly suppressed the proliferation and invasion abilities of glioma cells, while overexpression of PODNL1 had the opposite effect both <em>in vitro</em> and <em>in vivo</em>. Mechanistically, PODNL1 knockdown suppressed the activation of AKT/mTOR signaling and inhibited nuclear translocation of β-catenin protein in the glioma cells. Our results suggest that PODNL1 acts as an oncogenic factor in glioma by promoting glioma progression through the activation of the kinase AKT, which indeces β-catenin nuclear translocation. Additionally, PODNL1 knockdown enhanced the sensitivity of glioma cells to temozolomide, a chemotherapeutic agent commonly used in the treatment of glioma. The PODNL1/AKT/β-catenin signaling axis represents a new potential therapeutic target against glioma. Furthermore, our data showed the combination of temozolomide and MK-2206, an AKT inhibitor, had a synergistic antitumor effect against glioma cells.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34602,"journal":{"name":"Fundamental Research","volume":"5 4","pages":"Pages 1822-1830"},"PeriodicalIF":6.2,"publicationDate":"2025-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45298347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to develop an explainable neural network-based model to describe the vehicle path dispersion by exploring the relationship between the path dispersion and external factors. A backpropagation neural network model was established to analyze the effects of external factors on the dispersion of through and left-turn paths based on real trajectory data collected from 20 intersections in Shanghai, China. Twelve influencing factors in varying geometric, traffic, signalization, and traffic management conditions were considered. The predictive power and transferability of the model were verified by applying the trained model on the four new intersections. The contributions of the influencing factors on the path dispersion were explored based on the neural interpretation diagram, relative importance of influencing factors, and sensitivity analysis to offer explanatory insights for the proposed model. The results show that the mean absolute percentage errors of the path dispersion models for the through and left-turn movements are only 14.67% and 17.65%, respectively. The through path dispersion is primarily influenced by the number of exit lanes, the offset degree between the approach and exit lanes, and the traffic saturation degree on the through lane. In contrast, the path dispersion of the left turn is mainly affected by the number of exit lanes, the left-turn angle, and the setting of guide lines.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34602,"journal":{"name":"Fundamental Research","volume":"5 4","pages":"Pages 1645-1658"},"PeriodicalIF":6.2,"publicationDate":"2025-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135455856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The converting system is a software component that transforms the target problem into the graph coloring problem, while the operating system is designed to solve these graph coloring challenges. Comprised of 60 probe computing cards, this system is referred to as EPC60. In tackling large-scale graph coloring problems with EPC60, 100 3-colorable graphs were randomly selected, each consisting of 2,000 vertices. The state-of-the-art mathematical optimization solver achieved a success rate of only 6%, while EPC60 excelled with a remarkable 100% success rate. Additionally, EPC60 successfully solved two 3-colorable graphs with 1,500 and 2,000 vertices, which had eluded Gurobi’s attempts for 15 days on a standard workstation. Given the mutual reducibility of NP-complete problems in polynomial time theoretically, the EPC stands out as a universal solver for NP-complete problem. For Fe SACs, the effect of directly coordinating N atoms has received intensive discussion, yet by contrast, the effect of secondary coordinating atoms has been left largely unexplored. Here, we developed a route to tuning externally doped N around Fe SACs to boost ORR activity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations established the four different models for FeN4 for ORR, indicating that the FeN4-PR-GN (pyrrolic-N for the first coordination shell and graphitic-N for the second coordination shell) can effectively improve the ORR performance. On the basis of theoretical calculations, we developed a two-step strategy including interior encapsulation and surface adsorption, which helped to regulate the different external coordination N of Fe SACs. The best-performing catalyst, FeN4-PR-GN, displays excellent ORR performances in alkaline electrolytes; in particular, the catalyst gives a half-wave potential of 0.92 V (<em>vs.</em> RHE) and high stability, which is much better than those of commercial Pt/C. Inspired by the self-protection mechanism of the linear-to-torsion transition of the square exoskeleton of seahorses, a novel seahorse-exoskeleton-inspired structure (SES) is designed, which consists of two oblique rods and springs, and a rotational disc. The geometric relationship and dynamic model are established to reveal the corresponding nonlinear stiffness, adjustable high carrying capacity and large working range characteristics. The dynamic equation of the SES is derived according to the Lagrange equation and the frequency response relationship is obtained with the harmonic balance method. Then the effects of structural parameters on the nonlinear restoring force, nonlinear inertia, nonlinear quadratic force, nonlinear damping and the vibration isolation performance are studied comprehensively to achieve the low-frequency isolation characteristics. A SES prototype was manufactured and the corresponding experiment was carried out to verify the low-frequency vibration isolation performance of SES. The tested peak frequency of the unloaded SES can be lower to 1.48 Hz due to the linear-to-torsion property, which can generate torsional inertia and anti-resonance phenomenon.
