Researchers developed event detection models and mental health assessment systems separately. Little research was focused on analyzing various events’ impacts on mental health via social media. To evaluate the effect of events on mental health, we use the area under the curve (AUC) method to mine the tweets. The AUC method makes numerical estimation under normal conditions, before, during, and after an event. We collected 90,649 tweets during the three events (Sri Lanka Bomb blasts, Burevi Cyclone, and Tauktae Cyclone) in 2019, 2020, and 2021 and computed the events’ impacts on relevant people’s mental health using the AUC method. The new results matched with the event reports by other sources. The AUC method is useful for planning and executing disaster preparedness and emergency teams.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115446222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been forced to adapt to online channels. Considering market relevance, this article describes the survey results with 11 SMEs regarding their adherence to digital media. Moreover, a case study of a selected company demonstrated barriers and propulsions to digital adequacy. The aim was to promote SMEs' competitiveness through technology transfer, focusing on e-communication and strategic digital planning. The results show that the insertion of technology through digital media depends on the knowledge of the tools used in this medium. Therefore, despite being ready to use, SMEs have not yet fully leveraged digital media. Organizational barriers, such as lack of time for those responsible, lack of training and knowledge, and strategic planning, were observed. However, environmental factors such as competitive pressure and innovation-related policies are positive for insertion. Thus, there is room for companies to invest in digital strategic planning focused on improving sales, customer relations, and competitiveness.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129603245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The physical distance between home evacuees and supporters makes it difficult for various types of support to reach them. Therefore, we focused on perinatal care. We have also studied and proposed the development of an information system to support nurses who provide medical care to home evacuees in the event of a large-scale disaster. In this study, we examined and organized further requirements for the development of our system. As a result, the types of information to be shared between nurses in the disaster area and remote supporters were identified. In addition, simulations of communication conditions using Digital Convenience Radio (DCR) showed its practicality in the event of a major disaster in which public communication lines do not function. In the future, we would like to create an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) device to build the system we are aiming for. We would then like to conduct demonstration tests and evaluation. The progress of this research suggests that it can contribute not only to the development and quality improvement of disaster medical care systems, but also to home medical care in peacetime.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126301938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Finger characters are often used to supplement sign language in conversations, especially when it is difficult to express some words by sign language. However, few people understand sign language. The realization of an automatic translation system for sign language or finger characters will facilitate communication with deaf or hearing-impaired people. To develop a finger character recognition system that is practical in the daily lives for smooth conversations, continuous and real-time recognition is required. This paper presents a novel real-time data processing framework, the time-series flexible resampling. This framework consists of three steps: detection, segmentation, and extraction. This framework enables continuous and real-time recognition for acyclic time-series data, in which stable states and changing states occur repeatedly. In addition, continuous and real-time finger character recognition is realized by applying time-series flexible resampling. The effectiveness of applying time-series flexible resampling to the finger character recognition system was verified in subject experiments.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127075028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, these platforms provide a plethora of user-generated content, which has inspired researchers to delve into and interpret data for a variety of objectives. Due to its effectiveness in locating news items hidden inside enormous amounts of voluminous data, event detection in online social network data has recently grown in prominence. In this research, we introduce KEvent, a novel graph-based technique for event detection from Twitter messages (aka tweets). The suggested method divides tweets into bins for extracting bursty keyphrases and then uses post-processing techniques to create a weighted keyphrase graph using the Word2Vec model. The keyphrase graph is then subjected to Markov clustering for the purpose of clustering and event detection. KEvent is evaluated over the Events2012 benchmark dataset, and it performs noticeably better when compared to two state-of-the-art techniques, Twevent and SEDTWik. Additionally, KEvent has the ability to find events that the aforementioned state-of-the-art techniques were unable to find.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"295 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132119436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We hypothesized that SNS users make a downward comparison with flaming targets to show off their superiority, and we defined tweets that verbally despise a target as \"despise tweets.\" We investigated the proportion of despise tweets in 10 flaming and 4 non-flaming cases. As a result, we found that the proportion increased in all flaming cases. The correlation coefficients between the number of tweets and the proportion were positive for all flaming cases, which strongly supported our hypothesis. The results also suggest that it is possible to classify the patterns of flaming by examining the time when the maximum value of the proportion of despise tweets is reached. Specifically, we found that the proportion reached its maximum value earlier than the peak number of tweets in one-sided flaming cases, while it reached its peak later in cases where both sides of a controversial issue were present. Thus, it is possible to visualize the structure and background of flaming by tracking the relationship between the number of despise tweets and the number of tweets over time.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"194 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132684915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, deep learning based NER has gradually matured, but still faces the scarcity problem of labeled data in specific domains. Therefore, researchers focus on few-shot NER to reduce the model’s data dependence and enhance the transferability of the model. However, existing works usually cannot adapt to new entity types and are prone to the so-called negative transfer problem. Therefore, in this paper we propose a type- Description-enhanced Few Shot NER model, called DFS-NER, which effectively integrates the prompt learning paradigm and the meta-learning framework. DFS-NER performs well under frozen pre-training model parameters through continuous templates. It realizes efficient source domain training and target domain parameter fine-tuning through the metalearning framework. We enhance the robustness of entity- type prototype representations by introducing word-word- level and word-type-level contrastive learning objectives and capsule networks as the induction module. Simultaneously, based on discrete prompt learning, a masked-language model learning objective guided by type description is proposed, which can well absorb the semantic information of entity types. Experiments on commonly used datasets, including, SNIPS, Few-NERD, and MIT Movie show that DFS-NER basically surpasses baseline models and achieves the state-of-the-art performance.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"143 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129485767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been used in various fields such as hospitals, sign language recognition. While applications of the techniques for traditional video games at this current stage are still quite limited, we see the potentials using gesture-based controls as training and rehabilitation tools. This paper explores in particular how gestures can be used to play video games. It uses the gestures captured via the user’s video camera and performs various actions in the game. Two games, Hill Climb Racing and Subway Surfers, have been investigated in this paper. For Hill Climb Racing, only two hand gestures are needed since there are only two actions in the game. Body gestures and movements are used to play the game subway surfers. Promising results (real time with webcam only) indicating practicability of the approach are obtained.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115567507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These datasets are everywhere, with a popular example being the World Wide Web. It acts as a mass data producer and consumer across multiple devices in a distributed fashion worldwide, containing massive amounts of data. The discovery of knowledge on the Web requires web intelligence solutions, which take advantages of data mining and data science. In the case of web mining, the mining of web structures provides commonly recommended web pages to web surfers by examining incoming and outgoing links on web pages. The overall size of the web is however sparse. Sparsity of the web comes from a high number of vertex nodes (i.e., web pages), with a small number of directed edges (i.e., incoming and outgoing hyperlinks between web pages). In this paper, we present a solution to the mining of frequent patterns from the sparse web. From the sparsity of the web, web pages are captured in compressed bitmaps that are then mined for discovery of these patterns. Our bitmap model ensures readability, flexibility, and allows for the capturing of important information across multiple 31-bit groups. The mining process is demonstrated on real-life web data to present its capacity of mining for interesting patterns from interpretable compressed representation of sparse data.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116078023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, tools dedicated to ontology management are a keystone for semantic Web applications. In this paper we consider a possibilistic framework and an evolutionary approach for ontology enrichment with OWL axioms. The assessment of candidate OWL axioms against an RDF knowledge graph requires a high computational cost, especially in terms of computation time (CPU), which may limit the applicability of the framework. To answer this problem, our contribution presented in this paper consists of (i) a multi-threading system to parallelize axiom assessment, (ii) a heuristic to avoid redundant computation and (iii) an optimization for SPARQL query chunking relying on an extension of the SPARQL 1.1 Federated Query standard. The results of a comparative evaluation show that our proposal significantly outperforms the original algorithm, enabling a significant reduction in computation time.","PeriodicalId":345445,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology (WI-IAT)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123277689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
