The importance of the book in the formation of personality is demonstrated by the countless prohibitions of books throughout human history – „blacklists” of forbidden books and burned books. Hence the rhetorical question: – „What is your first book?”, „What books were in your training?”. The book is the source of knowledge that can be passed on to other generations contributing to their formation. Good governance can only be achieved based on qualitative knowledge. The need for elite education has been realized since antiquity. Thus in all societies, the formula of creating special schools for the children of kings and aristocrats was used. The Party High School was created in the Soviet Union for Party Officials because good governance equals the higher level of idealization of the official. Cultural and scientific elites have a role in defending national culture and merit in universal science. The book is an artifact in the demonstration of the existence of a people, and the people who will not have written books will remain out of history.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131514941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The preservation for future generations of this invaluable information and its carriers – the books that make up the library funds, has become a global task that all civilized countries of the world are solving. In order to preserve the Jewish cultural documentary heritage in the Library named after I. Manger, the department “Rare Book” has been functioning since 2000. Its fund has more than 1500 copies of documents. The collection in Hebrew includes mainly religious books published in the XIX and early XX centuries. The rarest of them are 2 Torah scrolls, volumes of the Babylonian Talmud, published in 1848–1880 in Lemberg, the edition of the Torah (Pentateuch of Moses), dated 1874; Books of the Prophets 1904 and 1914 editions, Zohar 1910, Haggadah. The collection of these rare and valuable books was formed partly through acquisitions in Bukinist bookshops, but the main part was received as a gift from residents of Chisinau and Moldova. Libraries are firstly designed to perform a dual function: to store documents published and written in the past and to provide access to them for present and future generations.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122955316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ritual folklore of Moldova includes the most interesting and significant traditions that have survived over the centuries, associated with family and calendar holidays. The most important Moldovan folk traditions can be admired during the winter holidays. The mask is one of the most important elements of these actions and a work of folk art. It contains the characteristics of popular heroes, constituting two main types: zoomorphic and anthropomorphic, as well as a division into costumed masks and face masks. Folk craftsmen gave expressiveness to masks with the help of materials, colors, sizes and plastic shapes. The art of masks and costumes in Moldovan folklore is a valuable part of the ethnographic heritage of the Republic of Moldova and deserves careful study in close connection with the literary and musical part of folk art.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125013573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the analysis of the archive documents, we found that the general schooling of the children was carried out in precarious socio-economic conditions, in the absence of appropriate buildings, furniture and adequate teaching inventory. It also happened in situations of poverty, when a large part of the population did not have enough resources to dress and feed children properly. The unsatisfactory conditions in schools have led to poor results in studies, the spread of diseases and epidemics among children. The situation in the educational institutions of the Moldavian SSR in the academic year 1944–1945 clearly illustrates that schooling had a compulsory character being motivated by the interest of the Soviet authorities to install administrative, political and ideological control over the young generation. After the occupation of Bessarabia, given the continuation of military operations to the countries of Western Europe and the need of restoration following them, resources were insufficient and political and ideological objectives were achieved in circumstances of poverty. The 1944–1945 academic year was a turning point for the young generation in the Moldovan SSR. It began to be subjected to ideological training through ideological study programs and involvement in communist organizations for children and youth. Also, the “convert” of children to the communist ideology, to the detriment of national traditions and values, began.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125857024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experience of creating an improvised museum of Roma culture in the courtyard of his own house by a resident of Chisinau, which was mentioned in 2004 by the local press, as well as the European experience of founding historical museums related to the culture of Roma with different status (private or governmental), prompts the author of the article to draw the attention of public organizations, government agencies, patrons and sponsors from the Roma community to this important component of the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Roma in the Republic of Moldova. As a part of the educational processes taking place among the Roma people, the creation of a museum where the younger generation of Roma people can come and contemplate the artifacts of popular culture so this fact will contribute in overcoming the alienation of Roma people in relationship between their own history and culture. Nowadays it does not really matter the place where this museum will be located: either in Chisinau or maybe inside the courtyard of the baron’s house in Soroca. The making of the „plague shirt” was entrusted to a certain number of women (3, 7 or 9) who gathered on Tuesday evening to spin, weave and sew a hemp shirt which was later worn „over seven borders”, being brought at the end an offering to the ruthless Plague. This custom is attested in Muntenia, Oltenia, Transylvania, Maramureş, Bucovina and Dobrogea. Similar traditions are present in Greece where the „plague shirt” was offered as a gift to Saint Haralambie and in the Romanian communities in Serbia. In its essence, the „plague shirt” is an ancient agricultural practice, a magical-mythical manifestation, aimed at protecting animals and agricultural crops from evil forces.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"47 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132864035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All these concepts about the book challenged many scientists, people of art and culture, including documentary filmmakers. In the cinematic discourse, thanks to its important components (image, soundtrack), the book obtains spatial dimensions, but also sound – a process, which deepens the ideational background, facilitates the assimilation and valorization of the book’s content. The film “The Light of the Book” (screenplay by Nicolae Dabija and Pavel Bălan, directed by Mircea Chistrugă, image by P. Bălan) about the fate, often dramatic, of many old books, and the film “Anastasie Crimca” (author Pavel Bălan), dedicated to the famous calligrapher and book miniaturist, Metropolitan Anastasie Crimca, will serve as arguments for these ideas. Thus, we will try to demonstrate the possibilities of documentary film in “bringing” home our old books, scattered for various reasons around the world, and their valorization as an important component of the spiritual heritage of the nation.","PeriodicalId":344963,"journal":{"name":"Studii culturale, Volumul II","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114324825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
