At the same time Bike Share services appear that increased the motivation of the users to use bicycles. In this context, the article presents a distributed sensing system for cyclist’s training monitoring materialized by a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), with Internet connectivity. The WSN sensing nodes are mounted on the bicycle and the cyclist himself and provide information that can be used to improve the cyclist’s performance. The coach can monitor and evaluate the athlete performance and may act to adapt the training sessions considering also other elements such as health status condition. The information coming from the WSN nodes is uploaded, through an Internet connection, to the Firebase platform. The data can be accessed through a developed Android mobile application that also allows the configuration of the training route. The effectiveness of the proposed system was experimentally tested and several results are included in the paper.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127949592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific vulnerability of the naval power systems is given, first of all, by ship’s power plant and its finite character. Power generation systems on board ships have, in their structure, a significant number of static power converters: controlled rectifiers, DC sources, DC power converters, inverters, etc. whose powers reach the order of tens of MW, comparable to the power of a ship’s plant. The use of these devices in finite naval power plants, inevitably, produces a serious disturbance of the voltage and current waveforms, especially in the power consumer networks. The paper presents the theoretical framework of the problem as well as the results of measurements, which illustrate the presence of the disturbing harmonics due to the static converters.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116359882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This issue stimulated the interest towards the development of methods and software tools for computing magnetic fields generated by various power-frequency systems. Underground power cables are widely used in urban areas, but they have not been investigated as much as other sources. In this study, the low frequency magnetic fields generated by a typical 12/20 kV underground power line will be assessed by both analytical computation, using a software tool developed in LabVIEW, and numerical simulation, with a 2D electromagnetic modelling software. The obtained results will be comparatively analyzed and checked against relevant exposure limits.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116735250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve this goal, the polluted solutions were treated with non-thermal plasma discharges. To obtain non-thermal plasma an electrical discharge gliding on the surface of the solution, was used. The surface gliding discharges reactors produce an electrical discharge in the gas phase over thin film of aqueous solution. The thin film is produced due to many small droplets of the treated solution atomized in air and argon, as carrier gases. In this manner, can be achieved an enhanced contact between treated solution and the column of discharge. To assess the pollutant removal possibility of non-thermal plasma, the decolorization of an organic water-soluble pigment (e.g. Direct Green 26) was investigated.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117211457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technology is very useful for the creation of reversible adhesive suitable formany applications in various industries including the automotive and the aerospace industry. The LCA was performed to quantify and verify the environmental impacts of all the involved processes. The main advantages of this new class of adhesives are mainly, the energy reduction during the production phase (as the electromagnetic activation occurs in few seconds) and the possibility of recycling the bonded components at the end of life. This is because the MW/RF-activatable adhesives are reversible, as they can be re-melt through the MW/RF irradiation, without heating the bonded components, which could be easily disassembled and recycled. The LCA was carried out according to the ISO14040 and 14044,using the Simapro 8.05.13 software coupled with the Ecoinvent 3 database.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116159653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our approach uses the image processing techniques to identify regions of interest (ROIs) in an image, based on color information and on certain object properties. The two 3-phase transmission power lines have been considered as perfectly balanced. The compensation effect has also been studied when the currents in the two circuits flow in opposite direction, relying on different conclusions on the \"transposed phasing\" opportunity. The combined effect of phase transposition and soil conductivity has also been studied.
