Data centers are the main part of information and communication architecture. The energy consumed in Data Centers is increasing according with the information technology and communications evolution. It can be reduced up to 40% with applying measures and strategies for energy-efficiency system management. Data centers are complex systems consisting in buildings and construction, facilities and utilities, energy and technic systems in operation. The challenge is to identify the areas that shall be improved, an objective assessment method for Operational Data Center energy efficiency is the most useful. The assessment methods and quantitative measurement for energy efficiency improvement are also important to be aligned with International Strategy in Europe and America for Energy Efficiency improvement goals to reduce the consumption in all economic sectors, including Information Technology and Communications (Data centers). Reducing data centers energy consumption is also a way to achieve energy efficiency in the buildings that host the specific facility, aligned with current standards and regulations.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124244393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanical model of the EPS was built in LMS Amesim software, utilized for modeling and analysis multi-domain systems. Assisting torque needed to steer the vehicle is provided by the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Torque control technique is used to control the assist motor. The models of the motor, control and control logic using linear pattern assistant characteristic were implemented in Matlab/Simulink. In the control logic is taking into account the input torque from the steering wheel and the vehicle velocity, using these values a certain amount of assisting torque is applied. The mechanical model and the models from Simulink were converted to run on the Embedded Controller NI PXI-e S135 processor. The link between the models was made using NI VeriStand, a software environment for configuring real-time test applications.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116942525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The harmonised efficiency reference values for the separate production of electricity and heat have been reviewed for application after 1 January 2016. The paper presents the performances assessment of two cogeneration plants with different technologies and biomass fuel from the point of view of the support scheme. The first is a cogeneration plant with the organic Rankine cycle and power of 1.30 MWe and the second is a steam turbine cogeneration plant and the power of 14.50 MWe. The electricity production in high efficiency cogeneration is analysed comparatively for both technologies. The lowest heat consumption threshold is identified for which the entire production of electricity meets the requirements of high efficiency cogeneration.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127235076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The currents and fluxes hodograph is no longer circular but elliptical. The dissymmetry factor of the main quantities depends on the supply voltage dissymmetry factor; in addition it get dependent on the motor operation. Once determined how stator currents and main flux are influenced, studying the stator main flux comes naturally. This paper is a study on how asymmetrical supply influences the stator flux. The approach is based on analytical study and the results have been confirmed by simulation.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125396306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the conversion efficiency of the current photovoltaic cells is under 20 percent, thus rather small, there are other techniques which can be implemented to increase the amount of electrical energy generated by the photovoltaic systems. Increasing the solar radiation on the photovoltaic (PV) panel using different concentrator systems is one of these techniques. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the benefits of solar radiation concentration technique on PV systems. In this sense a prototype of a low concentration photovoltaic (LCPV) system was developed and used for experimental determinations.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"219 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122634237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to analyze the behaviour of the fuel cell using Advisor toolbox from Matlab and how it is possible to obtain a cleaner power generation. The Advisor toolbox was developed at the beginning for studying hybrid electric vehicles, but in time became a useful tool also for simulation and test pure electric vehicles. For simulation with this software, in the first step it was considered a type of a vehicle and then there were applied more fuel cell types in order to compare and evaluate the performances in different operating modes. Also, the present study takes in consideration mathematically and physically models for reliable results.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114613406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For electricity transmission and distribution companies, while efficiency can be achieved by replacing old equipment from the networks with newer devices, or incorporating into the existing infrastructure additional components, such as FACTS solutions, all these measures are costly and require major changes in the network, with added time and financial costs. These measures should be applied only after all other options, which do not incur additional costs, are exhausted. One of these measures is Phase Load Balancing (PLB). This paper proposes a PLB approach built using the Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The PSO-PLB algorithm is tested on a real low voltage (LV) electricity distribution network (EDN), and the results, measured in electricity savings though loss reduction, prove its efficiency.","PeriodicalId":343896,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129795598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
