Promoting the Electricity Generation from Biomass in Romania
The combined heat and power plants shall provide fuel savings compared with separate production of electricity and heat. The harmonised efficiency reference values for the separate production of electricity and heat have been reviewed for application after 1 January 2016. The paper presents the performances assessment of two cogeneration plants with different technologies and biomass fuel from the point of view of the support scheme. The first is a cogeneration plant with the organic Rankine cycle and power of 1.30 MWe and the second is a steam turbine cogeneration plant and the power of 14.50 MWe. The electricity production in high efficiency cogeneration is analysed comparatively for both technologies. The lowest heat consumption threshold is identified for which the entire production of electricity meets the requirements of high efficiency cogeneration.
