It is necessary to consider spectrum availability when cooperative communication (CC) is carried out in CRNs. In this paper, we propose the concept of Effective Channel Capacity (ECC) according to frequency band occupancy state, and build a Maximum Weighted Matching (MWM) problem where ECC is the weight. Then we find an optimal relay assignment which can maximize global ECC by solving the problem using Kuhn-Munkres (KM) algorithm. The simulation results indicate the necessity of our work for CRNs.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128425407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By calculating the theoretical logarithmic likelihood ratios (LLR) messages that each input symbol accumulates in the encoding process and removing those input symbols whose LLR messages are enough for successful decoding from the latter encoding process in the SRE scheme, the LLR messages from the channel can be allocated more properly among the input symbols and thus the SRE Raptor code can achieve better decoding performance than conventional Raptor code. By analyzing raptor code based on extrinsic information transfer charts (EXIT) under Gaussian approximation, we propose the method to calculate the theoretical LLR messages of each input symbol and design the proper threshold to remove the symbols. Finally the simulation results show that the SRE Raptor code can achieve better decoding performance obviously both over BIAWGN channel and fading channel compared with conventional raptor code and the equal degree encoding (EDE) Raptor code.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130149039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed IDDCE, estimated channel responses, which are used for weights of feed-forward and decision feedback FDEs, are iteratively updated using an accurate 2-dimensional LMMSE algorithm at each iteration of the turbo FDE. Through computer simulations, we clarify the best window size for the 2-dimensional LMMSE algorithm assuming the 9-path Extended Typical Urban (ETU) channel model and the maximum Doppler frequency of up to approximately 220 Hz. The computer simulations show that the 2-dimensional LMMSE based IDDCE is effective in decreasing the required average received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) satisfying the target average BLER for the turbo FDE in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel with low-to-high maximum Doppler frequencies and with a wide range of root mean square delay spread values.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129048597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since ToF cameras and passive stereo are intrinsically complementary for certain scenes, it is desirable to appropriately leverage all the available information by ToF cameras and passive stereo. The fusion methods which are presented recently fail to consider ToF reliability detection and ToF based improvement of passive stereo. As a result, this paper proposes an approach to integrate ToF cameras and passive stereo to obtain high accuracy depth maps. The main contribution is: an energy cost function is designed to utilize depth map from ToF cameras to guide the stereo matching of passive stereo. The experiments show that the proposed approach achieves the improved results with high accuracy and robustness.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127941107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Initially, a composite channel model is considered which includes atmospheric loss, pointing error and weak atmospheric turbulence. To show the impacts of the channel state information (CSI) on system performance, either full CSI or semi-blind CSI at the relay nodes is considered. Based on the channel model, the approximate expressions of the outage probability for both full CSI relaying and semi-blind CSI relaying are derived, respectively. Numerical results substantiate that the derived expressions can provide sufficient precision for evaluating the outage performance of FSO communication systems. Moreover, for the scenario we considered, semi-blind CSI relaying can provide nearly identical performance to its full CSI counterpart.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121301117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed estimator significantly improves the estimation precision at low SNRs by utilizing a posteriori probabilities of coded bits provided by channel decoder. Moreover, a methodology to calculate the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) of the proposed code-aided (CA) ML SNR estimator for coded M-APSK signals is derived. Compared with moments-based estimators and the non-data-aided (NDA) Expectation Maximization (EM) based estimator for M-APSK signals, simulation results show that the proposed estimator exploiting a posteriori information out of low-density parity-check (LDPC) decoder or Turbo decoder performs better, especially at low SNRs. It is also validated that the performances of the proposed CA-ML SNR estimator for coded 16- and 32-APSK signals can closely achieve the derived CRB.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"232 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123039071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But high compensation will decrease hearing comfort, even result in negative impact when attenuation is serious. In order to improve the listening recognition of hearing-impaired patients with severe loss of high-frequency hearing, this paper proposed a new method which uses frequency compression and shift techniques for multi-channel loudness compensation. This method could reduce the negative impact during conventional loudness compensation. Firstly, high frequency portion of voice signal is compressed and shifted to the target frequency band. Then, the signal is divided into four unequal size bands via Quadrature Mirror Filter Bank. According to different hearing-impaired patients, the identity of the signal on each band is compensated and controlled. At last, the processed signal is reconstructed using perfect reconstruction filter banks. By using the proposed method, the identity of the signal is enhanced obviously and the voice is restricted within earshot of the hearing-impaired listeners. The result of the actual test of Ling'6 tone shows that the recognition rate of the voiceless increases 30 percent than conventional method. The experiment and simulation indicate that the proposed method has high practical value and improves hearing level and identification of hearing-impaired listeners, especially for voice with abundant high frequency.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114232095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper investigates the LED deployment problem in terms of the average outage area rate for on-off keying (OOK) modulated VLC. Based on the VLC channel model, the average outage area rate is derived on the conditions of the non-uniformity distribution of a receiver. Furthermore, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the average outage area rate to obtain the best LED deployment. Employing the particle swarm optimization (PSO), two LED deployment schemes, i,e., single-LED-based deployment scheme and array-LED-based deployment scheme, are proposed to tackle it. The simulation results are compared using both the proposed schemes and the conventional random scheme. It is shown that the PSO-based LED deployment schemes outperform the random scheme.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"6 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120997723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we consider video transmission in IEEE 802.11e networks, and propose a Load Adaptive Dynamic Mapping (LADM) scheme to improve the video transmission quality. In LADM, the enqueue rate of different kinds of packets and the dequeue rate of the queues are used as detailed indication of traffic load. Then the video packets are dynamically mapped into appropriate access categories according to both the significance of the video data and the network traffic load. To further improve the video transmission performance, the active packet discarding method is adopted to protect more important packets in case of heavy traffic load. The simulation results show that the LADM scheme improves the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) of the received video.","PeriodicalId":342639,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131278033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
