Previous studies showed that its efficiency is highly related to the content of clients' cache. However, existing data broadcast systems do not take network coding information into account when making cache replacement decisions. In this paper, we propose a network coding-aware cache replacement policy called DCA to supplement network coding assisted data broadcast in on-demand broadcast environments. The performance gain of our proposed cache replacement policy over traditional cache replacement policy is shown in the simulation results. Our policy can effectively reduce the overall response time.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"31 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131306755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The adaptive protocol consists of a selection between all possible realizations of the two-way transmission based on a criterion which maximizes the instantaneous achievable sum rate. Outage probability analysis as well as bit error rate performance results obtained by computer simulations show that significant performance improvement is provided by the proposed adaptive protocol compared to the classical straightforward network coding (SNC) and PLNC. Moreover APLNC offers a solution to the poor error performance of the classical cooperative communication protocols at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"289 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115393346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As to the issues of resource allocation and performance improvement in complex time-frequency fading channels, the proper time-frequency mathematics methods are encouraged to be utilized. Our research team has been interested in the weighted-type fractional Fourier transform (WFRFT) ever since 2007, and then introduced it into communication systems. The WFRFT comprises a co-modulation process of single-carrier (SC) scheme and multi-carrier (MC) scheme, by utilizing which a new hybrid-carrier (HC) scheme is proposed. We believe that the different carrier schemes have different adaptabilities to diverse fading channels, and a cooperative HC scheme will lead to a better performance. Meanwhile, the current communication systems have an alternative of SC or MC, or they could be adopted in down-link and up-link respectively sometimes. In this regard, a HC system is able to, not only provide the compatibility with SC and MC, but also achieve a smooth and seamless transition between the two. So a few of technical or non-technical conflicts caused by the incompatibility of SC and MC can be released. We are now researching on the basic theory, mechanism of convergence, essential techniques and feasibility study of cooperative HC scheme, preparing to share some ideas on system design and techniques selections of future communication systems.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115744438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, existing algorithms are almost concentrated on the randomly small-scale network topology, which is not suitable for practical large-scale network environments, because more time is spent on traversing SN and VN, resulting in VN requests congestion. To address this problem, this paper proposes virtual network mapping algorithm for large-scale network based on small-world characteristic of complex network and network coordinate system. However, a lot of researches have been done without consideration of searching delay. In this paper, secondary users' searching delay, which cannot be ignored in actual situation, is considered with an improved three-dimension Markov approach for dynamic spectrum access. Theoretically, we use quasi-birth-and-death processes (QBDs) to describe Continuous-Time Markov chains (CTMC) for spectrum access process. We want to study the outage probability behavior of the proposed mixed AF and DF relay systems under independent Nakagami-m fading channels. In particular, we derive the lower and upper bounds of the outage probability of the proposed mixed AF and DF relay system based on MRC diversity combining with help of analytical methods. The results give the optimal configuration of AF and DF relays under a specific channel condition, and thus it helps us to configure the most suitable relay system in a generic fading environment. The trade-off between the complexity and performance issues is also discussed in this paper. Because the number of the elements of antenna array in 60GHz increases, the beam patterns generated are more than common BF, and it causes long set-up time during beam patterns searching. In order to reduce the set-up time, three stages protocol, namely the device (DEV) to DEV linking, sector-level searching and beam-level searching has been adopted by the IEEE 802.15.3c as an optional functionality to realize Gbps communication systems. However, it is still a challenge to create codebook of different patterns to support three stages protocol from common codebook of beam pattern. In this paper, we proposes a multi-stage codebook design and the realization architecture to support three stages BF. The multi-stage codebook can create different granularity of beam patterns and realize progressive searching. Simulation results for eight elements uniform linear array (ULA) show that this design can divide the beam searching to three stages searching without increasing the system complexity.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122340995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The radiation part of the antenna consists of two symmetrical triangular metal slice branches printed on the FR-4 substrate with 1.5mm thickness. The two branches are fed by balanced microstrip line. The antenna is simulated by software CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® and the equivalent adopted dipole model is proposed to describe the radiation characteristic of the antenna. The simulated results indicate that the frequency range is from 1.64GHz to 5GHz with reflection coefficient less than −6dB, and the typical gain value is 8dB in the operating bandwidth. In order to improve antenna gain without influencing the bandwidth, the length of the dielectric slab should be extended appropriately in the main radiation direction. By extending the length of the dielectric slab appropriately in the main radiation direction, the antenna gain can be improved significantly without influence on the bandwidth. The prototype has been fabricated and measured in microwave anechoic chamber which is coincident with the simulated results. This antenna can be widely applied in the UWB field.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131089862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
