To improve the spectrum-efficiency, one of the promising techniques is multiple input multiple output (MIMO) multiplexing technique. However, the space of one user terminal is limited, and it is difficult to accommodate more antennas in one terminal. Thus, cooperative communication is proposed, to achieve diversity and multiplexing gain via different user terminals. In this paper, a cooperative-MIMO based on multi-code direct sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system is presented, which improves the spectrum efficiency a lot. However, the severely fading channel degrades the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed system significantly. The paper provided a frequency-domain iterative inter-code interference (ICI) combined with parallel interference cancellation (PIC) technology (ICP), which makes it possible to eliminate the interference between antennas and the residual inter-code interference between codes. From the simulation results, it is derived that the proposed method improves BER performance and the throughput of the system significantly.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121826531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The WFRFT communication systems can work not only in SC or MC scheme, but also a mixed scheme that both of the SC and MC signals are transmitted in the same frequency bandwidth simultaneously. As a unified scheme, the WFRFT systems inherit the properties of both SC and MC, of course, including the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) issue. In this paper, we study the PAPR of the WFRFT systems and demonstrate that it has an intermediate state between those of SC and MC systems. The PAPR of the WFRFT systems can be modified with transform order of the WFRFT and reduced by current methods of the PAPR reduction.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127138422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be solved by jointly optimizing the distributed source coding and network coding. Previous research found that optimal performance can be achieved with unlimited decoding complexity, which cannot be applied in practical implementations. Some practical methods were also presented, which shows sub-optimal performance. To improve the coding performance and keep the low complexity of the algorithm, an adaptive coding and transmission scheme according to the conditional entropy of the sources is proposed. It has been demonstrated that the proposed scheme can achieve better performance compared with the existing ones.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"168 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124693755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exhaustive search algorithm (ESA) that gives the optimal performance, however, is complexity prohibitive for practical implementation. Aiming at reducing the complexity while keeping the achievable sum rate performance, two heuristic algorithms are proposed for the multiuser scheduling problem: the improved genetic algorithm and simplified norm-based greedy algorithm. Also, the slotted OBS ring is designed with a wavelength assignment and traffic control (WATOR) scheme to achieve high bandwidth utilization, fairness, and stability. The WATOR scheme adopts a reservation mechanism to avoid burst collisions in the slotted OBS ring system which employs no transit buffers in each node for the reason of bypassing the traffic directly. It is sophisticatedly composed of a wavelength assigner to effectively allocate the ingress data bursts (DBs) with a wavelength and a traffic controller to determine a proper advertised fair rate. The TC further contains a local fair rate generator (LFRG) and an advertised fair rate generator (AFRG). The former generates a local fair rate not only to satisfy the ring ingress aggregated with spatial reuse (RIAS) fairness but also to diminish the effect of the propagation delay; and the latter decides the advertised fair rate referring to the local fair rate generated by the former. Simulation results show that the WA achieves system utilization higher than a group scheduling (GS) scheme [11] by about 5%, and the TC can stabilize all flows much better than but DBA [12].","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128764768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) focused more on minimizing per node energy consumption to extend the life span of sensor nodes. This lead to the design of sensor MAC protocols which treats both critical and non critical data generated by applications in the same way. The technical advancements in the development of new sensor nodes which consumes less energy and performs more tasks has opened up new fields of application for WSN. Looking forward there will be a need to support applications that generates data having different priority levels in WSN. This paper proposes a novel MAC protocol for WSN which can support applications, that senses critical random events, by transmitting these packets with higher priority. The simulation results shows that the proposed approach reduces the delay and packet loss by a huge margin when compared to existing Sensor MAC(S-MAC) framework. It achieves this reduction in delay and packet loss rate without compromising much on the per node energy consumption. This technique can be applied to any WSN that needs to cater applications that generate random high priority data.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"120 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128487901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LR aided (LRA) linear detectors achieve the full diversity with limit complexity. On the other hand, Automatic-repeat-request (ARQ) is another helpful tool for improving system's reliability, especially when packet data services play a more and more important role in the wireless communication now. In this paper, we propose a new receiver for MIMO systems with LR and ARQ. Based on the temporal correlation of a Rayleigh fading wireless MIMO channel and the features of retransmission, applying the results of LR in the last retransmission to the current retransmission can reduce the complexity of LR processing significantly.
