One novel coded modulation scheme based on AR4JA code and FQPSK (Feher's QPSK) is proposed out in this paper, which can alleviate the challenge of huge loss in space communications. The novel approach utilizes the property that AR4JA code enables communication at very low signal noise rate and constant envelope property of FQPSK to overcome the nonlinear impact of high power amplifier. At receiver, large gain can be attained by iterative demodulation and decoding. The paper presents the system model of coded modulation and proposes out iterative receive algorithm. Finally, the bit error rate performance of new scheme is confirmed by computer simulation.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123516089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

International Roughness Index (IRI) has been widely used to measure pavement smoothness because it can provide a consistent rating for different measurement tools. However, existing measuring tools based on IRI are usually very expensive. In this paper, we present a low-cost vehicle-based solution, Road Condition Monitoring with Three-axis Accelerometers and GPS Sensors (RCM-TAGPS), by using a cheap three-axis accelerometer and a GPS sensor embedded in a vehicle to monitor the road condition. We analyze the Power Spectral Density (PSD) of pavement roughness, estimate IRI, and classify the pavement roughness level into four levels according to a Chinese industry standard. Experimental results show that RCM-TAGPS can evaluate pavement roughness level correctly, even under some interference like potholes, manholes and decelerating belts, and the total cost of RCM-TAGPS in each vehicle is no more than 50 dollars, which is about 1/4400 to 1/160 of the existing system used in civil engineering and municipal engineering.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124964031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To recover and separate the sources from underdetermined mixtures, some prior information like sparse representation is required. The principle is very similar to the new technique named Compressed Sensing (CS), which asserts that one can recover a sparse signal from a limited number of random projections. In this paper, the relationship between BSS and CS is studied by equivalent transformation, then we propose the linear operator by which the relationship between the sources and the mixtures is modeled in two ways: RIP and incoherence, and give some instructive conclusions for the operator design. Numerical simulation applying the FOOMP algorithm and a operator we propose are conducted to demonstrate the good performance of the whole framework.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127110315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With synchronization errors, including frequent offset and timing offset, we analyze the system BER performance under the fast fading HF channel, where the adjacent subcarriers have different channel responses. The results show that the synchronization errors reduce the desired signal amplitude, and introduce ICI. In addition, a Common Phase Error is generated by differential detection, which causes the rotation of signal constellation and limits the system BER performance. Therefore, we exploit a novel phase estimation method applicable to the MC-FDDD-CDMA system. Finally, computer simulations prove that the improved system can effectively reduce the CPE and considerably promote the BER performance under the low SNR HF channels.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127431824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, security has been one of the barriers for satellite services, especially for domains spanning over cryptographically heterogeneous networks. In this paper, a scalable and adaptable security architecture is specified to protect satellite services. Two major issues in the proposed security architecture, key management and policy provisioning, are presented and analyzed. SMAC is a famous energy-efficient MAC. In SMAC, the boundary nodes problem brings seriously energy consumption. Because the bounder node follows multiple schedules in one cycle, it may deplete earlier and cause segmentation in sensor network. The paper proposes the virtual cluster aggregation algorithm to solve this problem. The algorithm reduces energy consumption of boundary nodes and extends the lifetime of entire sensor network by merging different virtual clusters. The simulation results show that the performance of SMAC with the virtual cluster aggregation algorithm obtains improvement.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"257 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120862959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the popular approaches, the method proposed by Ali has been shown to work effectively with less constraints compared to alternative approaches. However, the poor robustness of the method, which may incur some practical problems, inspires us to develop a three-step mechanism to address these problems. First, the factors of the measurements impacting the error of the results are analyzed based on more than 10,000 synthetic trajectories. Second, the trajectories are classified into 4 reasonable types according to these factors. Finally, based on the statistics, this paper presents a tractable mechanism for selecting or generating the best route for the calibration target to take in order to provide improved calibration results for the cameras. The comparison between the errors associated with trajectories generated with or without the proposed mechanism are presented using a Cumulative Density Function (CDF) curve.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115233379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the mission requirements, we select the appropriate configuration of the formation, forming a “virtual satellite”. Each satellite is deployed a transmitting antenna, and all the satellites transmit data simultaneously through the Satellite-to-Ground link. Multiple receiving antennas are deployed in the ground station. All the formation flying satellites and the Earth station constitute a generalized MIMO system. In this paper, based on 3GPP TR25.996 specification and methods of deterministic channel model, considering the actual space propagation environment, we propose a distributed MIMO channel model for formation flying satellite systems. Some factors affecting the channel capacity are analyzed, such as the number of antennas, SNR, the formation configuration. We perform simulations based on our channel model with MATLAB.
