The process of seeking knowledge that was previously face to face with teachers or lecturers is now only on the computer screen or smatrphone respectively. This change occurred due to the Covid-19 epidemic that hit the whole world at this time it is certain that this sudden change is affecting the ongoing PdP process. This study is to look at students' perceptions on the effectiveness of the online PdP process for creative poem writing courses. The study will involve approximately 60 students who registered for this course in semester 2, academic session 2020-2021. This study will use a questionnaire to obtain research data which is also the main instrument of the study. In the Malay culture, many ethnomedicinal plants are being used for various medicinal properties. This knowledge is recorded in many ancient Malay manuscripts that acknowledge many different local names of plants and its traditional uses and practices. This study will be discussing one of the ancient Malay manuscript named “Hikayat Nurul-lisan Menjawab Masalah” whereby the original work was written in Jawi alphabets. Fortunately, Harun Mat Piah in his book, “Kitab Tib Ilmu Perubatan Melayu” had transliterated the work to Latin alphabets and organised it to a better structure which makes the content readily accessible and easily interpreted for Malay researchers. The purpose of this study is to analyse and tabulate ethnomedicinal plants documented in the transliterated manuscript which mentioned gastrointestinal benefits. To attain the research objectives, qualitative thematic analysis will be employed on the manuscript in order to classify different themes in the text systematically. Among illnesses frequently mentioned in the manuscript are gastrointestinal related, such as digestion, bloating, diarrhea and others. The study highlights that there are 36 number of plants mentioned in the manuscript which relates to gastrointestinal diseases. There are many different practice of use, whereby some are with detailed explanation, and others very general. Some plants are mentioned as being used for the well-being of the digestive system. This study is imperative for comprehensively structuring the traditional knowledge obtained in the manuscript for easy reference and access to other researchers locally and internationally. Besides to enrich our traditional knowledge on ethnomedicinal plants, this research will indirectly serve to preserve one of an important Malay cultural heritage. Instead of drawing on a sheet of paper, students can design a graph, adjust the actual graph shape, and examine the impact of changing graph pattern using GeoGebra in mathematics teaching and learning. Furthermore, students can keep all of their work materials in a structured manner for future reference. GeoGebra will make a school lecture more interesting, exciting, creative, and innovative. The goal of this study was to analyse the effects of GeoGebra software in Mathematics achievement in respect to quadratic functions among gifted and talented Muslims student’s at Kolej GENIUS Insan, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. The maximum or minimum point of quadratic function was determined by using GeoGebra software, and the characteristics of quadratic expressions in one variables was also identified. The results illustrate that the graph quadratic expression has the highest point or the lowest point based the values of coefficient a on the quadratic function. For the graph function with negative values of coefficient a on a quadratic function, there are highest values of coordinates x and y, which also known as maximum point, while the graph function with positive values of a on a quadratic function, there are lowest values of coordinates x and y, which also known as minimum point. When students utilize GeoGebra software, their performance in calculating the minimum and maximum points on quadratic functions improves. This degree is the first personalized curriculum degree which entitles students to choose their own curriculum structure, which is called concentration field in this program. The concentration field is created by students to fulfil their future personal goals and career. This paper will highlight the fields chosen for their concentration and factors contributing to their decision. The study will use self -administered survey to registered Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies students. The data collected will be analyzed descriptively. Findings show that there are 52 combinations of concentrations fields which cross-disciplines of science, technology, humanities, and social science. Three main factors which influence decision in choosing the concentration field are interest, future career, and academic ability. Two lowest factors are parents and peers influence. This study suggests a model of success for Liberal Studies students includes three internal factors i.e., interest, ambition and academic ability, and three external support which are parents, peers and the university. AN ANALYSIS OF TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION, SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM, AND THE MODERN PANOPTICON","authors":"Erika Matsui","doi":"10.17576/malim-2021-2201-12","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17576/malim-2021-2201-12","url":null,"abstract":"Little attention has been paid to why individuals are addicted to Internet-related experiences. This research identifies a key driver of technology addiction by combining three perspectives: behavioural science, economics, and psychoanalysis. Behavioural science reveals that technology addiction is produced by well-designed technology that fulfils humans’ fundamental needs. Capital economy analysis, called surveillance capitalism, offers a new interpretation of the data-driven economy, in which Internet technology enterprises collect feedback from users’ experiences and use said feedback to improve their products. The data accumulation logic facilitates automatic thinking and the modification of users’ behaviours to make a profit for the enterprises. Psychoanalysis clarifies the relationship between surveillance power and behavioural changes in society. The Panopticon, a central observation tower with a circle of prison cells, achieved an automatic function of power to control individuals’ performances and minds. Technology addiction is a symptom of the modern Panopticon because a common mechanism works between the Panopticon and surveillance capitalism, occupying individuals’ time and space and executing the automatic function of the surveillance power that facilitates behavioural modification. We conclude that depriving individuals of both time and space is a key driver of technology addiction that threatens sovereignty in a data-driven economy. We also provide three solutions to technology addiction: acknowledgement of the benefits and risks of technology use, acceptance of the complexity underlying technology-related issues, and protection of individual sovereignty. This storytelling and praise are conveyed by making poetry his platform. The last poem to record the history of this Royal group was the Syair Riwayat Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Ampuan Besar Pahang (1953). However, such influence is less used when modern literature develops. Western powers bring a new diversity of forms and genres in creation. After 56 years, two works have emerged, Syair Sultan Azlan Shah Berjiwa Rakyat (2009), Mohd Ibrahim bin Said and Syair DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar (2018) by Maskiah binti Masrom in this contemporary era. Kings and sultans became objects of storytelling in both works. The question is, what are the scopes or criteria that are the ideas of their authorship? The scope or criterion that became the idea of authorship used by both authors in presenting storytelling about their rulers. Both texts of the Royal poetry were sampled. However, the issue has not been studied enough in terms of prehospital emergency medicine and the perspective of prehospital emergency caregivers. In this study, it is aimed to present the attitudes of a group of prehospital emergency care professionals to family presence and the press effects during prehospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The data for this descriptive research was collected from the participants of 63 prehospital caregivers in Afyonkarahisar. The data was collected using a questionnaire designed by the authors and the responses summarized by using frequencies and percentages. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize the sample and each of the survey items. The local ethics committee approval was obtained. Most participants were strongly opposed to family presence and the press during CPR. The highest mean in the phrases that “I don’t want any press member to be there when I perform CPR on a patient.” There is no significant difference in family presence during CPR between the role and year of the experience. Prehospital emergency caregivers mostly have negative attitude towards family presence and the press during CPR. They mostly think the presence of significant others and being watched adversely affects their CPR performance. Disturbing effect on caregivers is not only related to the presence of family members or to other significant others but also the press.
