In the XXI century, the interaction and synthesis of natural and humanitarian disciplines are of paramount importance in the system of biomedical education. One of the ways to solve this problem for future specialists is to study the foundations of biomedical ethics, the formation of a bioethical culture of future doctors. Among the ancient scientists of Central Asia who became famous in the field of medicine and pharmacy, a prominent place is occupied by Abuali Ibn Sino (Avicenna), whose life and work can serve as an example of national and historical identity, patriotic education of the youth of Uzbekistan. The emergence of such a phenomenon as the \"Muslim Renaissance\" and in this context the life and work of Avicenna, his role in the history of the development of medicine in Uzbekistan, are devoted to many, which, like others, were included in the materials of this study. A kind of bridge from ancient medicine to the medicine of the Renaissance and further to modern medicine was the legacy of doctors in Central Asia and Arab physicians. {"title":"THE USE OF ILLUSTRATION IN BIOCHEMISTRY TEACHING AND LEARNING","authors":"A. The main issue that instigate this initiative is the learners’ difficulty in understanding metabolic pathway topic(s), resulting in uninteresting learning environment. Hence, ‘the metabolic town’ illustration, that depicts three metabolic pathways (glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and electron transport chain) is used as an initiative to revive learners’ enthusiasm, which could breed interest and motivation to study this course. Trials were conducted with 35 students of Crop Science learners from the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. Eighty-six percent (86.2%) responded ‘strongly agree’ and 13.8% responded ‘agree’ that the overall learning experience through the use of this illustration has created a positive and fun environment. Additionally, around 79% learners responded ‘strongly agree’ that their knowledge on these topics have improved while 17.2% responded ‘agree’. Nearly 100% of the learners agreed thus establish the connection between the lecture notes and the illustration. Other than that, from an intrinsic aspect, 72.4% of learners firmly agreed that this illustration aided their interest and motivation towards Biochemistry subject; while the other 27.6% agreed. 89.6% who answered strongly agreed showed that they are in favor of the use of illustration for revision while the rest agreed. Consequently, 86.2% of learners strongly agreed that the illustration boosted their understanding and boost their imagination, and the other 13.8% ‘agreed’. {"title":"STUDENT AS TEACHER – ALTERNATIVE REVISION METHOD VIA QUIZIZZ APP","authors":"A. However, the 21st century learning situation saw the process of revision in classroom that is still fully mastered by teachers. This research aims to look at the effectiveness of the game-based application Quizizz as a revision medium as well as to develop students' self-learning. Through the use of Quizizz, students need to prepare a quiz-based questions for a spesific topic, and the fellow students will answer the questions. Quasi- Experimental research involved 30 undergraduate students of social science course where the data was obtained through pre-test and post-test scores as well as questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the T-Test Independent Test for comparison of scores and Simple Linear Regression test for the regression analysis between variables. Comparative analysis of scores between pre and post-intervention test revealed significant differences, with p = 0.000 values recorded. Regression analysis showed a significant association between the intervention method and the increase of students’ course content mastery and self-learning skill. In order to define Islamic epistemology through the study of Qur’anic and Hadith texts as well as to glorify both as the sacred source of thought, an analytical study of selected 24 Qur’anic verses and 48 authentic hadiths has been used. Through the combination of traditional and digital method, the number of selected Qur’anic verses and authentic hadiths is considered adequate to prove the existence of tawhid purification in revealed texts as the core foundation of Islamic epistemology. From the 72 texts on tawhid purification analyzed, 7 Qur’anic verses and 19 hadiths focussed on tawhid purification in belief; 16 Qur’anic verses and 18 hadiths focuseds on physical acts of worship, while the rest consisting one Qur’anic verse with 11 hadiths highlighted the verbal acts of worship. This study has verified that the concept of tawhid purification is not a new ideology created by certain groups. On the contrary, the revealed texts of Qur’an and hadith has manifested the concept of tawhid purification since the earliest days of Islam through the call of many prophets to Allah.Therefore concerted efforts should be taken to educate the Islamic society in understanding tawhid purification as the key methodology of prophets in calling to Allah and as confirmed by the revelation. Thus, negative perceptions viewing it as the ideology of extremists should be properly regulated. At the turn of the century, however, it saw the advent of a new type of liberal arts education that is characterized by its international focus and small-size seminars. In stark contrast with the traditional type, this new type typically offers university courses in English and teaches both Japanese and international students in the same classroom. This paper explains merits of this type of education from the perspective of developing well-rounded Japanese individuals who can adequately handle cross-cultural communication, fully utilizing practical skills of English that they acquire during the four years of undergraduate studies. Justeru penulisan ini ingin menjelaskan teori wakaf serta kepentingannya dalam Islam. Penulis juga menjelaskan mengenai hikmah kepelbagaian wakaf bagi mencerminkan nilai keunikan wakaf dalam Islam. Akhirnya Penulis mengetengahkan beberapa contoh pelaksanaan wakaf sebagai model amalan wakaf kontemporari yang diperkenalkan di Malaysia. Bagi mencapai objektif ini Penulis melakukan kajian keperpustaakan bagi mendapatkan maklumat terperinci daripada sumber yang sahih lagi autentik. Dapatan kajian di analisa dan dibuat perbandingan kemudian dilaporkan dalam bentuk penulisan kertas kerja untuk memudahkan pembacaan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan wakaf suatu ibadat yang murni diperkenalkan oleh Islam mendahului masa pengenalan skim endowment dan philantropi di Barat. Namun begitu masih banyak yang perlu dilakukan agar umat Islam benar-benar memahami hukum-hakam wakaf dan menyedari keperluan untuk berwakaf sebagaimana yang dianjurkan dalam Islam. Diharapkan penulisan ini berjaya mencapai matlamat untuk melahirkan masyarakat celik wakaf dan menyumbangkan lebih banyak dana untuk keperluan ummah sepanjang zaman. Kata kunci: Teori wakaf; kepelbagaian wakaf; hikmah wakaf; Malaysia Waqf is a form of ibadah that aims to bring closer to Allah SWT. However, not many are aware of the importance of waqf, thus wakaf funds fail to play a significant role in the development of the ummah. Hence, this paper is intended to explain the theory of waqf and its importance in Islam. The author also wishes to explain the waqf diversity wisdom to reflect the value of the uniqueness of waqf in Islam. Finally, it seeks to introduce about several contemporary wakaf practices in Malaysia. In order to achieve this objective, the author conducts a library research to obtain detailed information from an authentic and right source. The study shows that waqf is a pure practice introduced by Islam far ahead of the endowment and philanthropy practice of the West. Yet there is still much to do so that today's Muslims understand the laws of waqf and realize the need for waqf as it is recommended in Islam. It is hoped that this writing will achieve the goal of creating a “waqf literate” community who will donate more funds for the needs of the ummah throughout the times. In the first part, several studies consistently found that religiosity and personality are highly correlated. Agreeableness and Honesty-Humility are two main personality characteristics that reflect the personality of religious people. These findings correspond to the existing literature on Islamic principle of akhlak vis-a-vis personality that indicated the desirable and virtuous characteristics of people with faith. The second part is on the role of religiosity as a protective mechanism against various acts of disobedience. Reviews of selected work indicated that generally, higher religiosity cause the lower involvement in alcoholic drinking, tax evasion, depressive syndrome and drug usages. New studies on exploring the underlying process on causation effects of religiosity from Islamic perspective, on the personality development and as protective mechanism against different forms of disobediences are thus, strongly recommended. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of six-day fasting in the month of S y awal on the changes of personality among Muslims. A total of 111 participants comprised of students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) took part in this study. All participants were Muslims, consisting 91 women and 20 men with age range of 20 years to 53 years old. The analysis method used was multilevel modeling using Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM) version 7.0. The LHM was used to test all the hypotheses of the study. The objective of the study was to identify the impact of the S y awal voluntary fasting on the personality change. The findings of this study showed that the quality of S y awal voluntary fasting gives effect to the change of personality which bring significant relationship with both positive and negative personalities. Hence, it can be concluded that the six days voluntary fasting in the month of Syawal contributed to the changes of personality among Muslims. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk menentukan kebolehpekerjaan (employability) graduan lepasan Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Kuala Langat, Selangor. Kajian ini mengenalpasti kebolehpekerjaan (status bekerja/tidak bekerja/sambung belajar) graduan Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kuala Langat, menganalisis sektor pekerjaan graduan dan melihat purata gaji graduan lepasan Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kuala Langat yang berada dalam pasaran kerja semasa. Seramai 755 graduan lepasan ILPKLS dipilih secara rawak sebagai responden dalam kajian ini yang dijalankan menggunakan kaedah borang kaji selidik secara atas talian dan temu ramah melalui telefon. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa 24.78% daripada responden telah melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi, manakala sebanyak 60.9% responden telah mendapat pekerjaan dengan 69.13% adalah pekerjaan bertaraf tetap selepas menamatkan pengajian di ILPKLS. Sebanyak 80.48% daripada pelajar memperoleh pekerjaan ini bekerja dalam bidang latihan yang diceburi dan 73.24% graduan mendapat gaji permulaan sebanyak RM1000 ke atas selaras dengan saranan kerajaan untuk meningkatkan penduduk berpendapatan tinggi. Kajian ini mendapati, hanya 6.09 peratus sahaja graduan yang masih mencari pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan kemahiran mereka. Kajian ini merumuskan bahawa majoriti graduan lepasan ILPKLS memperoleh pekerjaan pertama mereka dengan kemahiran yang ada dan gaji yang sesuai. Kata Kunci: Kebolehpasaran graduan; pengangguran graduan; kebolehpekerjaan; pendidikan vokasional; graduan berkemahiran Unemployment in Malaysia is a critical issue that gives negative impacts toward national development. This study is to determine the employability of graduates from Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kuala Langat, Selangor. This study identified employability of graduates from ITI Kuala Langat, analysed job sectors for graduates and observed the average salary of graduates of ITI Kuala Langat (ITIKLS) in the current job market. 755 graduates from ITIKLS were selected at random as respondents in this study, which were conducted using internet-based questionnaires and telephone interviews. The results indicated that 24.78% of the respondents have continued their studies at a higher level, whereas 60.9% of the respondents are employed, with 69.13% of them have permanent jobs after graduated from ITIKLS. About 80.48% of the students that are already employed are working in their field of training and 73.24% of the graduates have received starting salaries of over 1000 MYR in accordance with the government’s proposition to increase the high-income population. Based on this study, only 6.09% of the graduates are still finding jobs that are suitable to their skills. This study concludes that the majority of the graduates from ITIKLS have found their first jobs with required skills and appropriate salaries.
