Sometimes PCs are inconvenient when used out side the classroom or their home where there is no internet service. Podcasting system is a very effective tool because it automatically sends digital materials to their players via wireless LAN. Our project illustrates how effective the system can be for learners. Compared with general popular shared WBT used in Japan, this paper suggests that the podcasting system introduced in our institution is not very bad for learners as supplementary tools for language learning. On the basis of the questionnaire, this paper concludes that the system serves more than the normal level of satisfaction compared with more high-level PC based learning management systems with much more functions and “costs” in terms of their sound quality and the usefulness of the system.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114692492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is hoped that 3D holo TV that is a 3D television system using holographic principle will be put to practical use. However, there are some difficulties to realize it. One of them is a capturing method under a natural light, because it required a laser light illumination in a dark room. In this paper, a new capturing method using multi-view images and the 3D holo TV that is designed by the authors are introduced. The system is possible to acquired 3D information under a natural light by using an ordinary digital camera, and displays 3D images using a holographic technique.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114420827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conclusion that more people may die as a result of medical errors than from injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents is alarming. An adverse event reporting system may help to improve patient safety and the quality of the healthcare institution. However, the accumulation of potentially relevant data in databases contributes little to healthcare services improvement. It is crucial to apply models to identify the underlying system failures, the root causes that led to the event and enhance the sharing of knowledge and experience. In the real world complete information is hard to obtain, so systems should have the ability to reason with incomplete information. We developed a model to classify the adverse events root causes in the medical imaging field where our logic programming approach allows the representation of incomplete information. In this paper we present a model for the adverse events root causes classification in the medical imaging field and an adverse event reporting and learning system that applies the developed model. This system is deployed in two Portuguese healthcare institutions with promising results. The conceptualized logic model offered the means for knowledge extraction, providing the identification of the most significant causes and suggestions of changes in the healthcare organization policies and procedures.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115338213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, 3D technology magnifies the thermal challenges in 3D multi-core processors. For this reason, 3D multi-core architecture cannot be practical without proper solutions to the thermal problems such as efficient DFS. This paper investigates how the continuous engaged DFS technique handles the thermal problem on 3D multi-core processors in unit level. We also identify the optimal matrix to achieve best performance varying application features, cooling characteristics, and frequency levels when the thermal problem is considered. Experimental results conclude two rules for managing and balancing the temperature of the die, especially the IntReg unit: 1) To optimize the thermal profile of both dies, the die with higher cooling efficiency should be clocked at a higher frequency; and 2) To lower the temperature of IntReg unit, workload with higher thermal impact should be assigned to cores with higher cooling efficiency.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124714201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Web content can be easily replicated using a crawler that automatically retrieves all contents of visited web sites. A rigger reuses content collected by crawlers without authorization. Our fake web prevention system is based on channelizing and imaging original web pages. Channelizing means that our system replaces important HTML tags with channels, then sends the replaced HTML tags into the channels by push delivery. Push delivery is a mechanism that allows the replacement of Web-page content without reloading the page. Imaging means that our system renders a variety of contents on a web page as a single image, which is called an imaged content. Crawlers cannot automatically extract original images from the imaged content. We describe how to implement a fake web prevention system by using push delivery based on a mobile agent. Our system can be used to obstruct reproduction of phishing sites.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129655618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework is based on a layered model, with the three primary metrics constituting the lowest layer. An important property of the primary metrics, referred to as the \"convertibility property\" is that a primary metric can easily be converted to another primary metric. Time is also included in this layer as a fundamental (not necessarily software) primary metric. The second layer consists of general-purpose metrics such as productivity measures, which are computed from the primary metrics, and the third layer consists of specialpurpose metrics such as reliability and quality measures. This third layer is inherently extensible. The framework readily lends itself for use in both instructional and practitioner environments.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"68 10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130146632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, existing cost estimation methods for agile developments used a story point. Because it is relative value, the estimation results tend to be easily fluctuated by the small variation of the baseline story point. For tracking project’s progress, the velocity was measured to check the progress and was used to make plan for the iteration and the releases of the project. The proposed method in this paper provides the systematic estimation and dynamic tracking methodology for agile projects. To estimate the effort of a project development, function points are used in addition to the story point. The function points are determined based on the user stories of desired features of the product. We adopt the Kalman filter algorithm for tracking project progress. The remaining function points at a certain point during the project are modeled as the state space model for the Kalman filter. The daily variation of the function point is observed and inputted to the Kalman Filter for providing concrete estimation and velocity. Moreover we validate the better performance of our model by comparing with traditional methods through a case study.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128773638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The practical applications of MLP however suffer from different drawbacks such as local minima and over-fitting, such that good generalization may not be obtained. Least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM), a novel type of machine learning technique based on statistical learning theory, can be used for regression and time series prediction. In this study, meteorological and pollutions data are collected daily at monitoring stations of a city. This pollutant-related information can be used to build an early warning system, which provides forecast and also alarms health advice to local inhabitants by medical practicians and local government. Through experiment, we found that LS-SVM could overcome most of the drawbacks of MLP and had been reported to show promising results.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127782510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new web architecture is made for activation of shotengai, which is a typical Japanese shopping streets in the city and towns. Recently, decline of shotengai is a serious problem by development of shopping centers. \"Osu\" is one of the most famous shotengai in Nagoya, Japan, which includes about 400 stores. We developed Osu shotengai official web site, called “At Osu\". First, the information of 400 stores is collected at Osu shotengai. Next, for a new web site, \"Information Visualization System\" is proposed here to express information freshness of present shotengai situation. It includes \"Message Upload System\" which administers the information from stores using systematic output method by RSS1.0 effectively. Further, we introduce a new approach for competing for a store owner with another one by their prominence and attractive design, which is described in text information. This is useful for the web composition from image base to text base to increase motivation of store owners. By the new developed web site of Osu, number of visitors of \"At Osu\" has increased rapidly.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127871568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
