As the Gabor wavelets are believed to be rather consistent to the response of Human Vision System (HVS), and many successful examples are reported in the areas of texture analysis. However, computational complexity of the feature extraction is still high even for computers nowadays, especially large sized image is involved. This paper attempts to break through the bottle-neck in the whole extraction process, that is to accelerate the convolutions by approximating the originally non-separable Gabor filter kernels to separable ones. Although the final computed features are not exactly the same as original ones, we prove that acceptable results can be achieved for segmentation purpose. While the acceleration ratio is as satisfactory as a gain of about $30%$ in time in the worst case with a MATLAB implementation.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129125856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We adopted a theory for media which conceptually described the organization of inflows generated by individuals. To obtain a formal representation, a natural pairing between inflows and contained entities is used. This pairing enables us to alternatively represent the notions of flows and entities in freely generated linear spaces, which is consistent with conventional data analyses. We discuss how the social structures of the organization of inflows are shown by alternative representation. We give an example using graphs extracted from data of a questionnaire survey on media use. We also discuss how the social structures are possibly characterized by the spectral structure of the conventional Gram matrix. We show that spectral deviations of a normalized Gram matrix enable us to characterize the media structures of web-based video services, which explains differences in service growth and the speed of growth.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126408698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We estimate the 3D camera pose by detecting local invariant image features and combining them with the camera’s accelerometer data. We applied NELFD - Neuroevolved Local Feature Descriptor that encodes data around points of interest in the image using a neural network with evolved topology and weights. For every image frame, a correspondence between 2D feature points is calculated and the camera’s pose is established based on additional sensor information. Generally mobile systems are low performance and equipped with low-grade camera. Thus, due to estimation accuracy and low computational complexity our approach has been considered as a new alternative in the mobile augmenting process. Experimental evaluation proved that our method is capable of real-time pose tracking and augmentation in an unconstrained environment.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114267018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we consider the two problems in Multicast QoS Routing called the MCM (Multi-Constrained Mutlicast Tree) and the MCOM (Multi-Constrained Optimal Multicast Tree). They are all NP-complete problems. We first formulate them as Quadratic Concave Program and Binary Integer Linear Program (BILP) and then investigate a new solution method based on DC (Difference of Convex functions) programming and DCA (DC Algorithms). Preliminary numerical results are compared with CPLEX, the best solver for BILP. They show that the proposed algorithm is an efficient algorithm for solving BILP.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115346843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This stable management system consists of sensor manager and CCTV manager with a purpose of gathering environmental data and disposing this data into useful information. By using the WSN based stable management system, a raiser can monitor and manage the stable at anytime from anyplace so the environment of a stable could be optimized and the productivity of a stable would be increased.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115727794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of assigning information (labels) to each pixel regarding their position, level, etc. and also information regarding the group to which each pixel belongs. This information is useful for many diverse purposes. There are several approaches within this field to perform this task, among these, the region growing implementation has been chosen due to its feature extraction efficiency and flexibility. This approach splits the image into different regions according to different inclusion and exclusion rules that are applied to each pixel. The algorithm proposed is based on an automatic implementation, thus an auto-seeded function has been programmed in order to jump from one region to the adjacent one. Since in real-life images the inclusion is ambiguous, an adaptive implementation has been proposed which allows a pre-defined level of tolerance to gray level variation and, thus, automatically merges regions where the difference is below a specified threshold. The results obtained from synthetic and real-life images are presented in this paper along with a discussion on the results obtained.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130720744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though it seems quite well understood in case of Poisson traffic, the tradeoff between energy and delay has not been adequately studied in existing literature. We therefore investigate in this work to propose a mechanism of tuning the tradeoff such that users/applications can make their choices to get various QoS requirements satisfied. In this paper, we introduce a new Dual-Threshold mechanism which is derived from Markov analysis. Our mechanism is able to offer different energy and delay performance by moving the initial windows according to the pre-defined best performance thresholds. Through extensive simulations, we’ve both verified the correctness of the analysis and the effectiveness of the mechanism. Result shows that it has a superior performance in comparison with other existing ones under the assumption of Poisson arrival. Besides, the dual-threshold mechanism is designed fully with standard-compatibility, which indicates that it can be easily adopted in reality.","PeriodicalId":338038,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE/ACIS 9th International Conference on Computer and Information Science","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131033305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
