The proposed method allocate the incentive charge over the participants by analyzing their shares in negative power flow or counter flow. To determine the individual participants impact on the transmission power flows, Bialek tracing algorithm is used. One case study based on IEEE 14 bus system is used to illustrate the proposed approach. The results show that the each participant provide with some incentive charges, which encourages the individual participants contribution over the traditional MW-mile approach in the context of revenue reconciliation of transmission services, regardless of transmission arrangement and locations. The main advantage of the developed method lies in its capability to consider multiple wheeling transactions simultaneously.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124653414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, one of the methods for assessing the motor internal condition is by the use of Concordia pattern analysis. Though adequate precautionary measures are adopted, the capacitor banks may sometimes malfunction, leading to damage of one or more of the individual capacitors in the whole bank. Such a minor fault in the capacitor bank is often not apparently discernible. This may however, give rise to substantial degradation of power factor correction performance and may also damage the supply profile. The case is more severe with the fact that the Concordia pattern gets distorted due to such external capacitor faults, and can give anomalous results about motor internal fault analyses. The aim of this paper is to present laboratory and field test results to have a close look at the anomalies in harmonic distortion and Concordia pattern analyses in induction motors due to capacitor bank malfunctions.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"155 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128161014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new model structure is proposed for estimation of different power quality disturbances of a distorted power signal. The amplitude and of different harmonics are also estimated which shows the robustness of the filter. The performance of Complex H∞ Filter has been compared with those of ECKF considering signals, which can represent worst case measurement and network conditions in a typical power system. State Space Representation with three states is used for estimation of amplitude and frequency in presence of white noise. Results of simulation demonstrate that under identical conditions, the performance of Complex H∞ Filter is better compared to ECKF.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"296 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132392092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Successful power tracking depends on the converter and its tracking parameters. The purpose of this investigation is to introduce a procedure for selection of the tracking parameters. To demonstrate the proposed approach a fourth order buck converter, belongs to higher order family, is chosen for photovoltaic power tracking applications. This topology essentially belongs to buck family and also results in improved performance as compared to conventional buck converter. Mathematical models of the proposed converter are formulated and then boundary conditions, under which the converter able to track maximum power, are obtained. The total combined photovoltaic power tracking scheme is simulated in PSIM and then power tracking performance characteristics are generated. The proposed MPPT parameters selection procedure is validated through experimental results.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126668348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An isolated distributed generation (DG) system is realised using fixed pitch wind turbine. The proposed stand alone wind energy conversion system (WECS) consists of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) driven by a wind turbine. The zig-zag transformer is used for isolation of the VF controller from the system and it provides path for the neutral current of the three-phase four-wire distribution system. The VF controller consists of IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) based voltage source converter (VSC) with a battery energy storage system (BESS) at its dc link. The VF controller injects/ absorbs both active and reactive powers and also acts as a harmonic compensator and a load balancer. To reduce the gap between supply and demand, power generating plants of all types are being installed, even then the gap is continuously increasing due to the depletion of natural resources. Optimal utilization of available energy resources is the only option left. To overcome this problem, the concept of DSM has emerged in power systems planning and management. An over sizing of the system components significantly elevates the overall cost of the hybrid energy system. In this context the correct and cost effective system sizing as well as efficient system operation is important. In order to determine the optimal sizing of system components, a mixed integer linear mathematical programming model (time-series) has been developed, based on the evaluation of optimized system unit cost for a hybrid energy generation system consisting of small/micro hydro, biogas, biomass, photovoltaic array, a battery bank and a fossil fuel generator. An optimum control algorithm written in C++, based on combined dispatch strategy, allowing easy handling of the models and data of energy system components is presented. The sizing result of the components is based on a trade-off between the optimized cost of the system and other techno-economics parameters, as determined by the algorithm in conjunction with a time-series model. To demonstrate the use of model and algorithm, an application example is also presented.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132660611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
