Then again, a large percentage of villages are electrified only on papers. In reality many of these villages have standing poles and no wires.The only immediate and economic solution to the problem of energy, requirement in village can be possible by energy management in village itself to make them self sufficient in energy requirement. The paper present a survey of village (Ekahara, Malanpur, Gohad, Gwalior, M.P.). In this paper an attempt has been made to identify the total potential of available resources in the village and energy management by the technique of heat generation through Biogas generation and electricity generation through Gasification technology of Biomass and make them not only capable to generate power but also make them aware for efficient utilization of energy by the use of conservation method.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133269791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As connectivity through BPL is available in all electrical outlets in the households, convenience of usage would outscore other forms of broadband communication. Moreover, the technology can also be satisfactorily deployed in semi-urban and rural sectors where broadband penetration at present is limited. BPL technology can also be used to assist utility companies by adding intelligent capabilities to the electric grids thereby improving efficiency in activities such as energy management, power outage notification and automated meter reading.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125042898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trigger obtained can be used in conjunction with the main control system of a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), or as a triggering function to a digital recorder or to a power line conditioner to detect the occurrence of sag and swell. The modeling of the algorithm and test of its functioning to variations in some of the parameters were carried out in a Matlab - Simulink environment. Reliability of the algorithm under conditions of noise and distortion in the input and to three different types of sags was tested on real data captured during events such as starting of induction motor, intermittent loading of welding transformer, and dynamic loading of a captive diesel generator.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116576591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the performance of the fuel cell is affected by its slow response characteristics for sudden changes in load. Therefore, a suitable power conditioning unit is very important for better voltage regulation and to reduce the overall system cost. Moreover the current flowing through the single stage DC-AC inverter followed by a step up transformer is very high, which increases the inverter current rating and losses. In this paper, a simple DC-DC boost converter connected in series with DC-AC inverter is presented. The proposed power electronic interface is designed for 10 kW proton exchange membrane fuel cell. The performance of the proposed converter is analyzed in MATLAB/Simulink environment and is compared with single stage.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116755139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sawmill current is of quasi-periodic with a frequency of about 10 Hz causing perceptible flicker. The FACTS devices like SVC's, STATCOM and Custom Power devices like DSTATCOM have been able to solve the voltage flicker problems by rapidly controlling the reactive power. But, control of active power along with reactive power control helps to mitigate the voltage flicker problem more effectively. In this paper, voltage flicker mitigation of wood saw machine with DSTATCOM along with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is analyzed using the PSCAD/EMTDC software. The proposed algorithm controls the flicker. The mathematical model of wood saw machine suitable for the flicker phenomenon is presented. The dynamic operation is investigated using this algorithm.","PeriodicalId":337759,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Power Systems","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124652194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
