Identifying learners’ learning style preferences can assist teachers in creating a learning environment that is appropriate for the learners. The aim of this study is to explore learners’ learning styles and their impacts on the teaching of ESP. This study involved 284 learners from three different departments, i.e., the tour and travel business department, the tourism department, and the tourism department. The data was collected by using Reid’s Perceptual Learning Styles Preferences Questionnaire (PLSQ). This questionnaire divided learning styles into 4 categories, i.e., auditory, kinaesthetic, visual, and tactile learning styles. It also divided the learning styles into two, i.e., group and individual. This study revealed that most learners were auditory and kinaesthetic learners. Only a few learners were visual and tactile learners. This study also reveals that most learners preferred to work in groups rather than work individually. Considering these findings, learners must participate in determining the activities and environment for teaching a learning process to avoid mismatching between learners’ learning styles and teaching-learning methods. This study offers six recommendations that can be used as a guideline when conducting ESP in the various learning styles preferences.","PeriodicalId":337169,"journal":{"name":"JournEEL (Journal of English Education and Literature)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131346914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Utilizing Dornyei’s (2014) Retrodictive Qualitative Modeling (RQM), we embarked with some steps: identifying learners’ archetypes, highlighting the dynamic patterns of emotions interacting to other components, and setting up signature dynamics. Eighteen participants studying English participated in two task-based instructions. Of eighteen learners of English department, we took five participants relying on their salient archetypes. We utilized K-means cluster analysis to group the learners’ archetypes that was computed by SPSS 20. Additionally, in-depth interview was carried out on the elected participants to get a thick description of the emotional states and other components underpinning L2 WtC. The results reveal twofold: (1) the participants’ dynamic patterns of emotions interacting with the classroom environment explicate the variability and fluctuation of learners’ WtC, (2) the variety of signature dynamics provided fine-grained components underlying learners’ WtC. Furthermore, the implication for further study and pedagogy is elucidated later. \u0000Key words: complex dynamic systems, emotions, Willingness to Communicate, Retrodictive Qualitative Modeling ","PeriodicalId":337169,"journal":{"name":"JournEEL (Journal of English Education and Literature)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127472941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This scientific article was used qualitative method with descriptive qualitative as the research design. The subjects of this scientific article were well-filtered through convenience sampling with its inclusive sampling on young learners’ range of age. Twenty young learners of Lembaga Pendidikan As Salim (Ponpes/TPQ/RA/PAUD) were contributed to the entire process of teaching English to young learners through Pocket Bee instructional media. The researcher of this scientific article concludes that Pocket Bee is a TEYL instructional media in a form of interactive and child familiar design (i.e. bee form) that is created by the researcher in a purpose of providing young learners an instructional media that is able to maximize the possibility of enhancing young learners’ English proficiency. The implementation can be formed into five main steps on its main activity, namely (1) giving prior knowledge, (2) letting all students roll the dice, (3) picking picture card from the pocket bee, (4) testing students’ understanding, and (5) instructing all students to draw and to write down the picture card. The students' response agrees that Pocket Bee instructional media is capable to provide young learners a fun and happiness during the learning process because the scale of positive respondents reach out 100%. Those responses were validated by legal representative of Lembaga Pendidikan As Salim (Ponpes/TPQ/RA/PAUD).","PeriodicalId":337169,"journal":{"name":"JournEEL (Journal of English Education and Literature)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132408290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
