Evidence suggests that many social and individual-based health-related factors are changeable and modi fi able. The aim of this study was to evaluate the e ff ect of a theory-based interven ti on based on the health belief model on health-promo ti ng lifestyle behaviors in individuals suscep ti ble to cardiovascular diseases. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experiment, we recruited 180 individuals having at least two risk factors out of fi ve cardiovascular risk factors, including smoking, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. Data were gathered in three phases (before, immediately a ft er, and fi ve months a ft er implemen ti ng the interven ti on) using the health-promo ti ng lifestyle ques ti onnaire (HPLQ), general health ques ti onnaire (GHQ), and a designed ques ti onnaire to measure the health belief model constructs. The interven ti on included fi ve training sessions based on the health belief model. Data were analyzed using the sta ti s ti cal tests in the SPSS. Results: Findings showed that the theory-based educa ti onal interven ti on was e ff ec ti ve in improving some domains of lifestyle, including nutri ti on, physical ac ti vity, interpersonal rela ti onships, stress management and health accountability. Also, the mean blood pressure and the mean tobacco use showed a signi fi cant decrease in the interven ti on group a ft er the interven ti on. Educa ti onal interven ti on also led to improvements in health belief model constructs including perceived suscep ti bility, perceived severity and perceived bene fi ts (P<0.001). Conclusion: Interven ti on based on an individual-based health behavior change model resulted in improving some lifestyle dimensions, model’s constructs and clinical outcomes. In order to provide wider and sustained changes, using ecologic models of behavior change including inter-personal, organiza ti onal and community-based models are suggested.","PeriodicalId":33500,"journal":{"name":"amwzsh bhdsht w rtq slmt yrn","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48676213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, data are limited on the physiological effects in young trained and untrained men. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of chronic hookah consumption on aerobic capacity (VO2max), resting and submaximal heart rate in men who are trained and untrained. Materials and Methods: Forty-nine young men (18-34 years) were assigned into the following groups: a. trained-hookah (n = 11), b. untrained-hookah (n = 14), c. trained (n = 12) and d. untrained (n = 12). The trained men had done at least three sessions (1-hour for each) of aerobic training a week during the past three years, while the untrained men had continued a sedentary lifestyle. Hookah smokers had smoked at least three times a week during the period. The VO2max, resting and submaximal heart rate indices were measured in all subjects. Results: One-way analysis of variance showed that VO2max was significantly higher in trained group than the other groups, although no significant difference was observed in the other groups. Resting and submaximal heart rate were remarkably lower in the trained groups than in the untrained groups, but no significant difference was noted in the other groups. Conclusion: The results of the present study indicated that hookah smoking has a negative effect on aerobic capacity in men who are trained; however, it seems that the effect of aerobic training is higher than the effect of hookah on resting and submaximal heart rate indices.","PeriodicalId":33500,"journal":{"name":"amwzsh bhdsht w rtq slmt yrn","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42813145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients’ perception of support will control their mental tensions and cause them to follow the self-care behaviors, and then it will promote their general health. The main purpose of the current study was “identification of the perceived supports for self-care in hemodialysis patients”. Materials and Methods: this study was conducted on the base of content analysis conventional. The study participants were 9 patients, 3 families having hemodialysis patients, and 2 nurses working in dialysis section. We made use of purposive sampling and continued gathering the data till we reached data saturation point. Besides, the data gathering procedure was conducted through semi-structured interviews. Finally, the data was analyzed through content analysis. Results: The present study’s findings included a main category of perceived support and three subcategories of constructive support, destructive support, and individual’s feeling of the provided support; and all of these conditions indicated nature and dimensions of the role of perceived support in hemodialysis patients’ self-care. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that hemodialysis patients can use the support provided during the illness, including constructive support, destructive support, and one's sense of support to enhance self-care behaviors and improve their quality of life. Therefore, nurses, physicians, and families Hemodialysis patients should pay more attention to patient support.","PeriodicalId":33500,"journal":{"name":"amwzsh bhdsht w rtq slmt yrn","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42332149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: In this Quasi-experimental, 100 female primary school students in Arak were randomly assigned to two groups of intervention (50 people) and control (50 people). The data collection tool was a questionnaire on children’s sleep habits that was completed by mothers and the higher score was the sign of sleep disorders. Educational intervention was conducted on the basis of predetermined goals and needs assessment was conducted via social network for mothers and students’ education was performed via games and entertainment. Three months after the intervention, the questionnaires were completed again and the data were analyzed. Results: In the intervention group, the score of sleep habits was significantly improved as to before the intervention (before: 53.22±5.44, after 45.24±14.4, p<0.001); however, there was no significant difference in the control group. The significant difference was observed in the subscales of resistance to bedtime, sleep duration, night waking, parasomnia and daytime sleepiness, but there was no significant difference in anxiety, respiratory disorder and sleep latency as to before the intervention.
