Due to interferences, there are coverage problems and a decrease in the SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) and RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality) levels. These indicators are important to guarantee the user’s connection, as seen below. Interferences cause the decrease of the quality of service, create dead spots, prevent user access to a macrocell or a femtocell and causes missed calls or signaling errors. At evaluating them, inteference reduction algorithms could be develop from the results of this paper. The downlink interference scenarios, with FDD (Frecuency Division Duplexy) duplexing model in a heterogeneous LTE network, were based on the technical report developed by the 3GPP Release 8 working group called 3GPP TR 25.820. One of the most critical cases is when interference is generated when a mobile user connected to a femtocell is located in the limit of the cell macrocell coverage area, causing the quality of offered services to diminish or to prevent any type of access. The interferences are evaluated according to the following parameters: SINR of the data traffic channel PDSCH (Physical Downlink Shared Channel), RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) and RSRQ. These parameters allow the analysis of the quality of the signal in the receiver and they are measured in three different scenarios.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116968782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shrimp histological images pose a big challenge due to their texture and similarity between classes of organs. Feature engineering and convolutional neural networks (CNN), as used for image classification, are suitable methods to assist biologists when performing organ detection. This work evaluates the Bag-of-Visual-Words (BOVW) and Pyramid-Bag-of-Words (PBOW) models for image classification using big data techniques and transfer learning for the same classification task by using a pre-trained CNN. A comparative analysis of these two different techniques is performed, highlighting the characteristics of both approaches on the problem of identification of shrimp organs.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127158478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electrical influences were studied through analyzing the electrostatic potential map, the HOMO-LUMO orbitals, and the energy gap. Three systems were simulated for this study. They are, pure chitosan (CS), chitosan with one silver atom (CS-Ag) and chitosan with three silver atoms (CS-3Ag). The theoretical calculations were done using Density Functional Theory (DFT) at B3LYP level set theory with SBKJC basis set to obtain the structure and energetic properties of the systems. Our calculations confirmed that Ag atoms have minimal effect on the geometry of CS. Further, the simulation suggests that the interaction between Ag atoms and CS is due to purely a Van der Waals interactions on most of the electro-positive sites. On the other hand, the HOMO-LUMO orbitals of CS-Ag and Cs-3Ag show a higher density near to the Ag atoms, which result in a reduction of the energy gap. Finally, the antibacterial properties of CS and Ag combined with the low energy gap suggest that CSAg nano composite (CS-AgNc) could be a suitable nanomaterial for bio-sensing applications.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129254888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CCGT thermal cycles were implemented using MATLAB XSTEAM IF-97 functions, which provide an accurate steam and water properties within the thermodynamic states model. This model can be used in academia and training environments to test and validate different types of control systems, or even serve as an input for state-estimation methods. Steady state results for this model have been obtained for a generic 20 MW CCGT power plant, as well as a 133 MW steam generation plant in Ecuador. The results reveal that the model provides accurate values for steam flow, temperatures, and power outputs; moreover, the calculated thermodynamic states correspond to actual measurements.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126334602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being a relatively new technology, there is a need to test Bluetooth Mesh in a realistic working environment to asses its strengths and weaknesses. We implemented a basic proof-of-concept Bluetooth Mesh network in our office building for a well-known office automation application: a smart doorbell. The smart doorbell uses Bluetooth Mesh technology to send and receive event messages inside a building and expand its reach with relay nodes. The network nodes were designed in-house according to the requirements of the application. This paper explores the design in hardware and software of a Bluetooth Mesh network in a real environment considering some evaluation metrics, such as package loss across distance and power consumption. It reports some issues regarding energy consumption and relay features. Results show that this technology performed well in our building automation application when considering factors such as radio transmission power and environment settings to achieve optimal functioning.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"89 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120998521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our approach, the PSO stablishes a set of optimal gains of the controller for a FOPTD system, based on the plant parameters. Then, the MGGP obtains the mathematical equations to estimate the optimal gains determined by PSO. Finally, to validate the methodology proposed, a group of random systems were selected and tested in MATLAB-SIMULINK, using the calculated equations, focused in its behavior with respect to the maximum overshoot (Mp) and the Integral Square Error (ISE).","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122485964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there are several studies that address cyber forensics, they are mainly oriented to manage evidence at server side, as far as we know, no systematic literature reviews have been reported on how cyber forensics is addressed at clients’ side; considering the internationals standards. Thus, this paper presents a literature review about how cyber forensics is addressed at clients’ side related to techniques of identification, collection, analysis, preservation and report of digital evidence. Also, a review of how standards are being used in cyber forensics focused on the client side. The aim of this study is to provide a background of relevant activities that are considered by investigators to handle potentially digital evidence from web environments, considering what internationals standards are solving for this purpose. Thus, a total of 37 studies have been selected and analyzed in this study. Moreover, this study provides important insights about the need to create methodologies aligned with formal standards that support the management of the evidence in an appropriate way.","PeriodicalId":334574,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Third Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132587435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
