The system has been developed in the context of an interdisciplinary research, MikE, for feasibility study of applying knowledge-based methods towards proactive monitoring of wind energy plants. The goal of the system is to integrate the data collected from the computer facing the sensors and store it in a centralized data warehouse to enable researchers to share common data repository. This in-house developed system enables the study of interdependence of variables that is not realistic in online monitoring. It also enables integrated access for multiple researchers/users synchronously. We built prototype system that collects and integrates data, visualizes data, analyses and presents the processed information in a usable form for supporting decision making activities.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128749166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operators, company, and public have a great interest in safety due to the concerns of public relations and customer well-being. This project details an aviation navigation feedback device (or “smart” ear seal coined “SmartSealz”) for pilots, who often face long working hours and stressful conditions. A working prototype has been produced that acquires the appropriate signals, processes them, and gives essential feedback through tactile actuators. These signals include air pressure, magnetic field strength, linear acceleration and angular velocity. Performance and efficiency were determined by using results from inflight navigation testing. Navigational signal acquisition circuits are being designed to meet or exceed Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) standards. From initial testing the current prototype was shown to be consistent with altitude feedback at elevations between 1700 and 8800 ft and had a 20-degree error when testing magnetic heading feedback. Ultimately, this “SmartSealz” device provides a solution to the safety implications resulting from fatigued or distracted operators.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123874414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Temporal logic and formal grammars are employed to specify the formal model of multiagents, and based on that an automated approach can be used to identify the emergent behaviors due to interactions among agents. Instead of exploring all possible system state spaces, which may grow exponentially, the proposed approach computes the local group polarization and the local group momentum for generating the emergent behavior set, and accordingly from which the emergent behaviors can be detected. To facilitate simulation and analysis, a MATLAB GUI is further designed to enable us to flexibly select control parameters in formal models of multiagent systems. Simulation results are provided to verify the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124411503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approaches are Pseudo Doppler (PD) and Yagi Rotation (YR), where each method corresponds to a common Radio Direction-Finding (RDF) technique. Pseudo Doppler utilizes the Doppler Effect by digitally sampling four (or more) monopole antennas in a sequential and circular order, simulating the rotation of a single monopole antenna. This approach can be complex with SDRs and suffers from reduced signal reception from the omnidirectional monopoles. The Yagi Rotation technique utilizes the directional Yagi antenna, rotating 360° about the antenna's center of mass. As the antenna is rotated, the SDR System calculates the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Angle of Arrival (AoA) of the incoming radio signal. The Yagi Rotation was implemented and field tested; numeric results shown in this paper indicate that system accuracy is limited to the azimuth beamwidth of the Yagi antenna. Due to complexity and reduced signal reception from omnidirectional monopoles, the Pseudo Doppler approach was not implemented; however, a system design is presented. Finally, the SDR methodology and UAV control implications of each approach are discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124444103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is aimed at mitigating port scanning threats and unauthorized intrusion attempts, and to protect a community of known users from data loss. In essence, port numbers, time, and IP address will be used as part of the password/access mechanism; this segregates traffic so that content-based restrictions can be more effective. It also provides a connection-based security wrapper for services that might be vulnerable to software exploits, such as the buffer overruns and backdoors. The method requires a portal to authenticate users and disseminate knowledge of the current port assignment, in addition to permitting users to request a “window” of time to be white-listed. It requires a firewall with dynamic port and whitelist reconfigurability. The method is intended to enhance byte frequency histogram analysis and regexp restriction of traffic. It also requires a policy for keeping alive long-lasting connections. It can be implemented easily with virtual ports using redirection. We discuss some implications for web page rewriting and cgi security, as well as legacy services such as ssh and sftp. The effect is to create a cross-product of IP range, port range, and time specificity, to create a large and sparse search space for any adversary.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129984520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An efficient impact analyzer is capable of accumulating and processing large amount of data very quickly. Hardware and software both plays important role to collect, process and store large amount of data within a very short period of time. MEMS accelerometers are cost effective and offer better performance with high functionalities compared to conventional piezoelectric accelerometers. The purpose of this paper is to conduct in-depth analyses of low-cost impact analyzer. Hardware and software consideration to implement a low cost impact analyzer (LCIA) are discussed. To simulate the accident, the system has been dropped from a certain height. With time-stamp, the tested data was recorded into microSD card and later the data was analyzed in computer and discussed.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134331605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method works for both linear and nonlinear circuits using nullors. Although the scope of the work can be generalized and cover a wide range of cases, but this study limits itself to the bandwidth of amplifiers/filters using one nullor only. The assumption is that a two terminal sub-circuit must be found so that the inclusion of this two terminal to the amplifier/filter will cause the frequency response of the circuit to get close to a desired one. Examples show both ways of expanding and shrinking of the bandwidth in amplifiers.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133515699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the current features of the camera include video mode at 30 fps, storage of taken snapshots into SDRAM memories, and grayscale and edge detection filters. The main contributions of this project include 1) the actual system level design of the camera, tested and verified on an actual FPGA chip, and 2) the public release of the entire implementation including source code and documentation. Many efforts have been put to address this issue; however, rapid monitoring applications are needed. We propose a distributed architecture based intrusion detection system (IDS) that is capable of detecting the anomalies in the network in real-time. To achieve this, we exploit the Apache Spark framework and Netmap- a line-rate packet capturing tool. In this work, we implement one of the challenging modules of an IDS, i.e., feature extraction, and present the computational results of the same for TCP-based traffic. Related results are presented along with the insight gained for future work.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131402311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concepts of swarm movement and communication is applied in a variety of applications such as traffic control or in military tactics. This paper applies swarm principles to a network of un-manned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in order to achieve optimal communication between each vehicle and to lower the amount of energy used to coordinate the movement of multiple vehicles. An optimization algorithm is being developed to work with wireless channel data from Wireless InSite, a wireless channel modeling software program, to control each UAV in the swarm network and choose the best wireless communication channels between UAVs based on characteristics such as path loss and power received. The results from this algorithm are implemented in a simulation environment constructed with OMNeT++, which also provides model visualization. This model has been evaluated in simulation in two dimensions on a 120m×120m grid and is capable of choosing optimal paths between nodes in the network by comparing channel characteristics such as path loss and power received.","PeriodicalId":333489,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology (EIT)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131484703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
