The lyrics to the song are the focus of this particular piece of research \"Night Changes\" by One Direction. The researcher dissects and investigates each and every line in One Direction's song \"Night Changes\" in order to make it simpler to sample the words of the deixis contained inside the song. In the future, the results from the song's deixis information \"Night Changes\" will be evaluated in order to further define and categorize the different types of deixis; this study employs a qualitative methodology with realistic analysis results. The author of this study conducted an analysis of a song by One Direction titled \"Night Changes\" and discovered various types of deixis that frequently appear in each verse of the song's lyrics. These types of deixis include person deixis and temporal deixis, respectively. Descriptive qualitative was conducted in this research. Data Source Researchers feel the need to support the data as corroborating evidence that it was indeed Jokowi's speech based on what will be analyzed in this study Transcription of Jokowi's speech. It's a video taken from the internet www.youtube.com or rather at (https://youtu.be/k6lN2cweaOs). This video shows Jokowi giving a speech in Indonesian about an endless war that will harm future generations. The results show that the use of grammar based on choice of word, clause, lexical, and figure of speech are the ways to expose certain meaning based on who is the speaker and the effect to the listeners. This study aims to describe the adherence to politeness principles in WhatsApp messages sent by students to lecturers during thesis guidance. The method used is the descriptive method. The collecting data is in the form of utterances in WhatsApp messages which show adherence to the principle of linguistic politeness. The data collection technique used is the documentation. Data analysis steps (1) collecting WhatsApp messages, (2) reading messages, (3) identifying maxims, (4) classifying maxims, (5) analysing maxims, and (6) conclusions. In Indonesia, English is the first foreign language and a required subject in schools. Nowadays, not only a foreign language but also taught from secondary up to university. Learning English aims to master the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students also begin to interact with others at the college level, they begin to learn to communicate in writing (Rianti 2016). In this section, the author focuses on writing. This research is a descriptive method. According to Nazir (1988:63) says that Descriptive method is a method of researching the status of a group of humans, an object, a set of conditions, a system of thought, or a class of events in the present. The purpose of this descriptive study was to create a description, picture, or painting in systematic, factual, and accurate information on the facts, properties, and relationships among the phenomena investigated. This research was conducted in SMA 2 Bangkinang Kota, located in Abdul Shaleh N0. 55, Bangkinang, Kampar, Riau. The total of students is 28. They consist of 12 males and 16 females. The main concern of this research was focused on the Analysis of students'' writing skills of descriptive text in the second grade of SMA 2 Bangkinang Kota. In this discussion of the result of students'' scores on writing ability of descriptive text. The result of the tests for the students was fair. Score the range showed that the mean score of test 1. The test of the students is categorized as good and fair. It means the level of excellence is no students or 0 % students. The level good is 8 or 32 % students. The fair level is 20 or 80 % students. From the discussion above the level of students in the test are fair. The student''s problems in writing skills of descriptive text are the student''s lack of vocabulary, which indicates the students did not bring a dictionary during when learning process and the students think that English vocabulary is hard to be learned. The students should always bring a dictionary when English learning. As already mentioned in the first chapter, the aim of this study are to describe students’ ability in writing a descriptive text focused on Content, Grammar, Vocabulary, Organization, and Mechanics in the Second Grade of SMA 2 Bangkinang Kota. The researcher would like to conclude that 28 students at XI IPA 3 in SMA 2 Bangkinang are fair in writing descriptive text. Based on the data presentation and the previous chapter, the researcher gets a conclusion of the research. The students'' writing skill in the descriptive text is fair. The result shows the mean score of the test is 69. Meanwhile, listening skill as one of significant language aspects for oral communication purpose is highly required for professional need by vocational senior high school. Therefore, this research was intended to find out the progress of students’ English listening skill in SMK Analis Kesehatan Nasional Surakarta using Duolingo and students’ perceptions toward the mobile application. This study used quantitative research with pre-experimental design and its data collection used pre-test, post-test, and close-end questionnaire. The findings show that scores of students’ pre-test and post-test presented significant improvement of students’ English listening skill. The average students’ pre-test score was 73.25 while the average students’ post-test score was 83.3. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the characteristic of the data. The informants in this study were one teacher of English and thirty-one students at Az-Zahrah Islamic Senior High School Palembang. Data collection techniques used interviews and questionnaires. The findings from this study are the use of podcasts for listening comprehension. The English teacher commonly teaches listening without using certain learning media. Therefore, students argued that podcast media was an accessible, helpful, and suitable medium for teaching virtual listening for eleventh-grade students at Az-Zahrah Islamic Senior High School Palembang. However, students seemed to be unfocused during the online learning because slowly internet connection became an issue and monotonous learning. Therefore, the teacher would be interested in using podcast media to attract students' attention and interests. However, students frequently struggle to pass the TOEFL reading test. Therefore, this study was aimed to identify (1) which sub-skills were the most challenging for students in reading comprehension of TOEFL test and (2) factors affecting the students’ difficulty in answering the reading comprehension section of the TOEFL test. This study applied both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A total of 32 students from various majors of Universitas Pamulang were samples for the test. The data were obtained by test results and interview results. The test result showed that the most challenging problems in reading comprehension were vocabulary (25 %), unstated detail question (20%), stated detail question (18%), pronoun referent question (15%), inference question (12%), and main idea question (10%). Moreover, the interview results revealed that lack of vocabulary, slow reading, and lack of strategy were factors affecting students’ difficulty.
