A method for identification of time-varying delay systems using particle swarm optimization is proposed. The basic idea of the method is that the identification problems are cast as mixed-integer nonlinear programming problems, and then particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to find the optimal estimation of the time-varying parameters. Simulation results reveal that the suggested identification scheme possesses a good tracking ability to the time-varying delay systems.","PeriodicalId":331407,"journal":{"name":"Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. An adaptive algorithm is presented for maximizing the embedding capacity while achieving specified image fidelity. This algorithm, which makes use of the wavelet transform and, meanwhile, considers the masking characteristics of the human visual system (HVS). In contrast to conventional least significant bit (LSB) steganographic methods operating in the spatial domain, masking is accomplished pixel by pixel by taking into account the texture and the luminance content of all the image subbands. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective to obtain an estimate of the number of bits that can be hidden in still images, and the algorithm can effectively control the amount of the hidden information adaptively to the requirement of imperceptibility in covert communication.","PeriodicalId":331407,"journal":{"name":"Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. It consists of an ordinary linear term plus an integral term and allows direct use of the pole placement technique. Different design methods are used for systems with matched and mismatched uncertainties. For systems with matched uncertainties, the switching function is synthesised based on the Riccati equation. For systems with mismatched uncertainties, the switching function is designed using the technique of linear matrix inequality. Variable structure controllers are developed according to the reaching condition of the sliding mode. Furthermore, the results for continuous-time systems are extended to discrete-time systems. The proposed approach is illustrated through numerical simulations.","PeriodicalId":331407,"journal":{"name":"Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. A number of active queue management algorithms such as PI controller, DRED, SRED, Blue, REM, and PD-RED have been proposed in the past few years. This paper presents a comparative study of these algorithms using simulations. The performance metric used in the study is queue length. Our results demonstrate that PD-RED is more effective at stabilizing the queue length, and the performance of PD-RED is obviously better than that of PI controller, DRED, SRED, Blue and REM.","PeriodicalId":331407,"journal":{"name":"Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. Based on the visual simulation software MATLAB/SIMULINK, the DC motor and its PWM converter composed of different switch devices were modeled and simulated under various working pattern and switch frequency. The self-tuning modifying algorithm based on fuzzy control was introduced to model the percentage and integral factor of speed controller for the DC motor driver system. Compared with the traditional control algorithm, this method helps to reduce the over-regulating of system, to eliminate oscillation, and to quicken the system respondence as well. To find a solution for this problem, a filter approach is presented for more accurate relative 3D pose estimation of a moving object with respect to the vision sensor system. Different from previous schemes that were limited to the assumption that the relative motion between the target and the camera is smooth and slow, this approach is implementable for a maneuvering target without a prior knowledge about its dynamics. And the computation load is much reduced by avoiding the need of EFK. This filter is composed of a maneuver detector and a filter updater. First, by analyzing the effect of image noise on the pose estimate error, linear measure equations relating the nominal pose parameters (obtained by 3D reconstruction) and the true ones are proposed. Then, a maneuver detector of maximum detection probability is deduced, and two sub-optimal detectors for quick maneuver and slow maneuver are further developed respectively. When a maneuver is declared, updating is performed with limited memory filtering. Experiment results verify the effectiveness of this approach.","PeriodicalId":331407,"journal":{"name":"Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. It opens new prospects for the implementation of the adaptive management mechanisms of QoS in real time networks and systems. To take into account this new type of constraint during the scheduling of access to the resources, the scheduling algorithms of QoS developed for the hard real time system (for example EDF, FP) and for the hard real time network (for example WFQ) must be extended. This article first presents a state of the art on the principal scheduling algorithms developed for the real time (m, k)-firm guarantee, then two algorithms of our recent work: E-DBP and (m, k)-WF/sup 2/Q.
