The data set analyzed in this paper comes from in-depth interviews with 12 mualaf/ newly converted Muslims from various backgrounds. All recorded interviews were transcribed and filtered to remove any unnecessary or misaligned data to ensure that the data was fully aligned with the interview questions. To analyze emotional changes, we utilize natural language processing (NLP) algorithms, which enable us to extract and interpret emotional content from textual data sources, such as personal narratives. The analysis was performed in Google Colab and utilizing XLM-EMO, a fine-tuned multilingual emotion detection model that detects joy, anger, fear, and sadness emotions from text. The model was chosen because it supports Bahasa, as our interview was conducted in Bahasa. Furthermore, the model also has the best accuracy amongst its competitors, namely LS-EMO and UJ-Combi. The model also has great performance, with the overall average Macro-F1s for XLM-RoBERTa-large, XLM-RoBERTa-base, and XLM-Twitter-base are .86, .81, and .84. Furthermore, two psychologists compared emotion detection results from the XLM-EMO model to the raw input data, and an inductive content analysis was performed. This approach allowed us to identify the reasoning behind the emotions deemed pertinent and intriguing for our investigation. This study showed that Sadness is the most dominant emotion, constituting 46.67% of the total emotions in the pre-conversion context. On the other hand, joy emerges as the most dominant, constituting a substantial proportion of 57.73% among the emotions analyzed from post-conversion emotions data. Understanding the positive impact of religious conversion on emotions may inform mental health interventions and incorporate spiritual or religious elements into therapeutic approaches for individuals struggling with emotional issues, guiding individuals undergoing religious conversion and emphasizing the potential emotional benefits.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"33 4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139321089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These conditions can lead to nomophobia behavior disorder (no mobile phone phobia). This study aims to: 1) analyze the level of nomophobia in students based on gender, faculty academic culture, and age; 2) analyze differences in nomophobia simultaneously based on gender, faculty academic culture, and age. This study uses a quantitative descriptive comparative approach. Data were obtained from 988 students at Islamic tertiary institutions. Samples were selected by convenience sampling technique. The instrument used is the nomophobia questionnaire (NMP-Q) (Yildirim, 2014), with high reliability. Data were analyzed using an Independent Sample T-test, analysis with one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA analysis. The results of the study show that nomophobia among students is in the high category. This study proves that there are differences in the level of nomophobia in terms of gender where women are higher than men. Based on the faculty's academic culture and age, there is no difference in student nomophobia. There is an interaction between gender and age in influencing nomophobia. Simultaneously there was no interaction between gender, faculty academic culture, and age in determining the level of nomophobia.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139338360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This phenomenon requires effective solutions, one of which is Islamic Work Exemplification. This concept is relevant to Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population and aligns with universal ethical principles. The main challenge is to implement and measure these principles in daily behavior. Although many studies have shown the influence of religion on work ethics, researchers have yet to make a serious effort to develop and validate the Islamic Work Exemplary Scale. This study aims to develop, validate, and estimate the reliability of the Islamic Work Exemplary Scale. An exploratory method based on a quantitative approach was used in this study. Respondents as scale test subjects were randomly selected from as many as 453 employees from Indonesia's government and private sectors. Respondents were divided into two groups: 180 for the small-scale pilot test and 273 for the large-scale pilot test. This study used exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to identify factors and dimensions and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to prove validity and reliability. The results showed that of the 37 items tested, 31 were valid and reliable. The items formed four important aspects of Islamic work ethics: honesty, responsibility, professionalism, and religiosity. Although this study has some limitations, the results of this study are important and can be used as a basis for further research on Islamic work ethics.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139338909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was done to investigate the effectiveness of the spiritual drug abuse prevention module based on (1) self-assertiveness, (2) spirituality, and (3) their belief concerning substance and drug abuse. The study sample was divided into an experimental and control group for the pre and post stages. This study used a quasi-experimental design involving two youth groups from different zones, each consisting of 33 people (experimental and control groups). A psychoeducational intervention of seven meeting sessions was carried out on the experimental group, while the control group was not given any intervention. The results of the pre-and post-test comparison showed that there was a significant increase in the mean value of self-assertiveness (mean value from pre-test 99.45 to 106.42 post-test), spirituality (mean value from pre-test 172.24 to 188.12 post-test) and beliefs about drug abuse (mean value from pre-test 28.91 to 41.48 post-test) for the experimental group that went through the intervention given by the trained facilitator using this spirituality module. The mean results of the control group showed no mean increase for the three variables studied. In conclusion, the spiritual module for preventing drug abuse can help the youth from being involved in substance and drug abuse and enjoy a more positive life.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139348924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aims and scope: This study aimed to analyze the effect of a single bout of tahajud, on systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in normotensive young men. The study employed an experimental design with healthy men aged 18-25 and normal blood pressure (normotensive). It included a control group (n = 12) that did not perform Tahajjud and a trial group (n = 12) that regularly practiced Tahajjud for over six weeks. The treatment involved performing Tahajjud consisting of 11 raka'at from 3:30-4:30 a.m., lasting 25-35 minutes. Blood pressure was measured using a sphygmomanometer before and after Tahajjud, and data analysis utilized a t-test (p < .05). These findings indicate that there is a non-significant difference in the mean of SBP and DBP after midnight between the control and trial groups, SBP (mmHg): 110.42±9.16 and 114.58±4.98 vs 120±6.03, p = .11 and 115±6.74, p = .08. DBP (mmHg): 76.77±4.92 and 77.50±4.52, p = .58 vs. 81.67±8.35 and 79.17±5.15, p = .19, SBP and DBP decreased by 5 mmHg and 2.5 mmHg in the trial group. Tahajjud, regardless of regularity, can elicit a modest but non-significant reduction in both SBP and DBP. These results indicate that Tahajjud may have a potential role in promoting cardiovascular health. Further research is warranted to examine the long-term effects and underlying mechanisms of Tahajjud on BP regulation.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44401992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We asked students from Aceh, Indonesia, to take part in our study. This area has seen a lot of trauma from a big tsunami and a civil war. We used two tools, the Brief Resilience Scale and the Life Values Inventory, to measure resilience and life values. Our results showed that students who had experienced trauma were more resilient. But we didn't find any differences in resilience or life values based on gender or where the students lived. We did find that students who were more resilient also had stronger life values. This tells us that we need to think about past trauma and life values when we're trying to understand resilience in Muslim college students. In the future, we need to keep studying these things and come up with ways to help these students be more resilient and have strong life values.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47455678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there has not yet been any research that examines the causal relationship between personality and religiosity and the impact of both on marital satisfaction in the same model, from the perspective of da'wah psychology. In the current study, we aimed to verify the relationship between personality and marital satisfaction is mediated by religiosity, as it is perceived as motivation from the perspective da’wah of psychology. This research uses a quantitative approach, and statistical analysis methods in path analysis research using Mplus software version 8.0. The sample consisted of 347 participants. The results show that 1) Personality type affects marital satisfaction mediated by religiosity fit with data significantly and negatively and 2) Negative personality emotionality affects marital satisfaction both directly and through religiosity as a mediator variable, where religiosity is as a partial mediator. The perspective of da'wah psychology is an approach that integrates religious principles with psychological knowledge so that it can provide a deeper understanding of helping individuals develop their potential and improve the quality of their lives and provide a framework for understanding the role of religiosity by emphasizing the importance of applying religious values in shaping marital satisfaction. The implications of this study highlight the importance of religiosity as a mediator in overcoming problems and suppressing negative emotionality so as to increase marital satisfaction in each couple within the framework of da'wah psychology.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42402381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
