The stigma associated with their condition often leads to feelings of shame, isolation, and a diminished zest for life.  These adverse conditions are known to significantly impact the psychological well-being of PLHIV. This study seeks to scrutinize the relationship between emotional intelligence and social support is mediated by gratitude. The research was carried out in East Kalimantan Province. A quantitative methodology was employed in this investigation. The study encompassed PLHIV who receive support from the Mahakam Plus Community Initiators in Samarinda, Indonesia. The data collection process involved four distinct questionnaires, focusing on emotional intelligence, social support, gratitude, and psychological well-being. In analyzing the gathered data, a path analysis technique was employed. The research findings revealed that gratitude plays a pivotal role as a mediating factor capable of bridging the relationship between social support on psychological well-being and mediating the influence of emotional intelligence on psychological well-being. The model of psychological well-being among PLHIV in this study aligns closely with empirical data. This alignment is evidenced by a standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) value of 0.100, a Q value greater than zero, and a model goodness-of-fit (GoF) score of 0.483. Moreover, the study uncovered that emotional intelligence, social social support, and gratitude exert a positive and statistically significant influence on psychological well-being. The study underscored the critical role of gratitude as a mediating variable. The implications of these findings in terms of potential strategies and interventions for enhancing the psychological well-being of PLHIV are thoroughly discussed.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"134 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140766102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Psychologists have expressed uncertainties about OC's efficacy and doubts about their competence in using it. As a result, psychologists have been hesitant to embrace OC methods and supporting technologies. Therefore, it has become crucial to study the factors that influence the acceptance and use of OC technology, enabling psychologists to develop the necessary skills and confidence to utilize inpatient treatment effectively. This study used quantitative research with survey research to study factors influencing 406 Thai counselors' use and acceptance of technology in online counseling, and the model was analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results showed that IOC are positively influenced by SI (β= .413, p<.001, t = 9.95) ATOC (β= .398, p<.001, t = 7.09), and PE (β= .114, p<.05, t = 2.01). While IOC is negatively influenced by FC (β= -.117, p<.05, t = -2.08). Furthermore, UOC was positively influenced by IOC (β= .511, p<.001, t = 9.64). On the contrary ATOC negatively affected UOC (β= -.215, p<.001, t = -3.77), indicating that it exerts a partial mediation effect on the relationship between PE, SI, FC, ATOC and UOC. The study represents a pioneering study on UTAUT use in determining technologies' influence on online mental health counseling in Southeast Asia. The findings could offer valuable perspectives on how to increase the uptake of online counseling among psychologists by elevating the perceived advantages of the service, assisting in the creation of more efficient, organizations or authorities that foster positive attitudes toward the use of online counseling among psychologists, and fostering increased acceptance and usage of online counseling going forward.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"83 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140787184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is not only because Indonesia is the biggest Muslim country in the world, but also because Islamic education has a social, cultural, and political role in Indonesian society. Nevertheless, madrasahs in Indonesia face several challenges entrenched from financial constraints. This leads to adverse consequences such as restrictions in the provision of infrastructure, inadequate quality of teachers, and low academic achievement in the national exam. Furthermore, students in madrasahs have more burdens than those in regular schools; for instance, students in madrasahs have more subjects to study, longer school hours, and must adhere to stricter rules and conduct. The challenges faced by madrasah raise concerns regarding its effects on students’ subjective well-being. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate whether there is a difference in students’ happiness between those who attend madrasahs and the regular schools. The data collected were based on the results of face-to-face interviews with 1,299 secondary education students in Indonesia. The results of the Bayesian ANCOVA analysis showed that the best-fitting model for predicting students’ happiness contained type of school and wealth level as predictors. The results also showed that the happiness level of madrasah students was significantly higher than their counterparts in regular high school. The finding is noteworthy because students’ happiness in madrasah is higher than in the regular school, despite the lower level of wealth. The results further discussed the literature on religiosity and happiness in the context of adolescent education.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139260249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT) principles can be integrated with patients’ religious beliefs and faith to address some mental health issues. The primary goal of this article is to assess the impacts of various forms of religious REBT (RREBT) on patients’ mental health. This research adopted a comparative, scoping literature review method. The findings show that various forms of RREBT exist, but the most frequently used approach is Christian REBT (CREBT), followed by Islamic REBT (IREBT) and Jewish REBT (JREBT). Three studies examined IREBT and reported its significant positive effects in treating posttraumatic stress disorder, negative self-esteem, and family distress and conflict.  Only one study focused on JREBT, demonstrating that it effectively reduced family distress symptoms and marital conflict. The rest of the studies focused on CREBT, and their findings ranged from its significant positive effects in managing emotional distress, panic attacks, avoidance, deficiencies in social communication, binge eating, aggression, depressive symptoms, poor work-life balance, poor quality of family life to symptoms of family distress and marital conflict. These three forms of RREBT have been applied in one study to manage family distress symptoms and marital conflict among couples. Based on evidence from five studies, depression is the most commonly treated mental health disorder by RREBT counselors. Across all studies reviewed, changes in irrational cognitions, irrational beliefs, and automatic negative thoughts were the most common change processes. RREBT clinicians employing any of these approaches in their clinical practice and research are urged to highlight the therapeutic techniques that worked for their clients, how much time it took them to achieve the desired change as well as the mechanisms of change so that future therapists can be able to adapt their procedures for their clients.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"67 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139260859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, there is a need for interventions to reduce nomophobic behavior. This study aimed to examine whether spiritual mindfulness intervention is effective in reducing individuals' levels of nomophobia. A randomized controlled trial was employed in this research, comparing pre-test, post-test, and follow-up scores between the experimental and control groups. A total of 60 participants voluntarily participated in 15 sessions of spiritual mindfulness. The participants in this study are Moslem, aged between 21 to 24, consisting of 50 (83.33%) females and 10 (16.67%) males. All participants are students of a private university in Yogyakarta. Independent t-tests and general linear models were used to analyze the data. The results of this study demonstrate that spiritual mindfulness intervention has an impact on reducing individual nomophobia levels in the experimental group. Meanwhile, individuals in the control group showed an increase in their nomophobic behavior. In conclusion, spiritual mindfulness intervention is effective in reducing nomophobia levels by 70.8%, as indicated by the partial eta squared value. Further explanations of the psychological dynamics are detailed in this article.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"51 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139279456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This cross-sectional study involves 97 primary caregivers of terminal-phase cancer patients who were selected using purposeful sampling. The Adult Carer Quality of Life Questionnaire (AC-QoL), Zarit Burden Interview (J-ZBI-8), and Pearlin’s Sense of Mastery questionnaires were used in this study. Based on data analysis using Smart-PLS-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) the direct analysis showed that subscale in care load, that is role strain had a significant negative influence on the quality of life in terms of support for caring, caring stress, personal growth, and the ability to care. Meanwhile, the subscale under the burden of care, that is personal strain, had a significant negative influence on the quality of life in terms of caring stress. Additionally, the analysis of indirect relationships revealed that self-control was found not to act as a mediator in the relationship between burden, caring stress and quality of life of the primary caregiver. This study has implications for the family of caregivers who experience the burden of care, especially in terms of role strain and personal strain, thus affecting several dimensions of their quality of life. Thus, in order to improve the quality of life among the primary caregivers of those cancer patients at the terminal stage, social workers in the helping profession field need to implement some appropriate approaches, methods, and techniques that will help to give sufficient mental, emotional, social and family support among the caregivers.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139306511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To prevent this, it is necessary to have an attitude of self-compassion and self-disclosure of adolescents to their foster parents. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the spirituality of orphanage adolescents to prevent adolescents from mental health disorders. This study aims to find a match and habit of the model of the influence of self-compassion and self-disclosure through spirituality on the mental health of orphanage adolescents. This research uses a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach to correlational models. The study subjects were orphanages as many as 165 samples were taken randomly at 3 orphans in Yogyakarta. Research data were obtained from observations, interviews, and research questionnaires. Analyze the research data using SmartPLS version 3 software with a two-stage embedded second-order approach. The results of this study show that a match of the research model was found between structural results and empirical data. Numerous studies have explored these concepts and their correlation with various personal variables due to their importance and their impact on positive personality aspects and mental health outcomes.  Aims and scope of paper: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between basic psychological needs and self-compassion, as well as to examine potential differences in the level of basic psychological needs and self-compassion based on gender and college affliction. Methods: The study included a sample of 528 undergraduate students from Hashemite University. Data were collected using the Basic Psychological Needs Scale and Self-Compassion Scale.  Result: The results indicated no gender-based differences in the level of basic psychological needs and two dimensions (competence and autonomy) due to gender, while males had higher level of relatedness compared females. Additionally, there were no significant differences in the level of basic psychological needs and two dimensions (competence and relatedness), between students' form scientific and humanities colleges. However, students from scientific colleges exhibited higher level of autonomy. The study also found that females had higher levels of self-compassion compared to males, with no differences based on college affiliation. Furthermore, positive correlations were observed between basic psychological needs and self-compassion, as well as and between psychological needs and self-compassion subscales (self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness). Conversely, a negative correlation was identified between basic psychological needs and self-compassion subscales (self-judgment, isolation, and over-identified). Conclusion: The basic psychological needs are of paramount importance in human development, and they serve as fundamental requirements throughout an individual's growth. The study revealed a positive correlation between basic psychological needs and self-compassion. These findings have valuable implications for the development of training and guidance programs aimed at enhancing basic psychological needs and self-compassion, which can ultimately contribute positively to the learning process.","PeriodicalId":32996,"journal":{"name":"Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139321132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
