As is known, basic research is the source of innovation and plays an important role in supporting the development of SEIs. The authors show the case of Zhejiang Province in developing the SEIs and to what extent basic research can support the development of SEIs. At last, the authors also give some suggestions about Zhejiang's basic research strategy and policy, which can accelerate the development of SEIs in Zhejiang.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115283046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper addresses the question about how EVs in China can achieve system innovation. Recognizing that the system innovation of EVs is essentially a transition involving co-evolution of many elements including technology and society, this paper adopts multilevel perspective (MLP). The drivers and barriers for the system innovation of EVs in China are identified. Based on the analysis combined with the theories on social-technical pathways, this paper describes the possible ways that transition to EVs may take place from the short-term, medium-term and long-term perspectives.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122505282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relationships are empirically analyzed using the method of cointegration test, Granger causality test, impulse response function and variance decomposition. Conclusions are obtained as follows: In the long term, there is a negative correlation between energy consumption and economic growth in China, and technical progress has a significant positive effect on economic growth. In the short term, technical progress, economic growth is the Granger causality of energy consumption. Impulse response of economic growth to energy intensity is firstly positive, and then negative. The impact of technical progress on economic growth is positive, which has an inhibitory effect on energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127017290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These have inspired many entrepreneurs to exploit technology for startups. In this paper, we would look at some successful technology based startups, with focus on the entrepreneurs who initiated the startups and the sources of technology. We hope to gain some insights into the characteristics of such startups and the process of starting up a technology based enterprise to better understand the nature of technology based entrepreneurship. In particular, we want to know how aspiring entrepreneurs can emulate such successes.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121860061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a synthesis approach, a service regime composed of four dimensions and ten elements is proposed. A dataset of 311 service firms in Taiwan was collected through a postal questionnaire survey. Principal component analysis and cluster analysis reveal a new innovation taxonomy of four service clusters: innovation laggards, process-organizational centric innovators, product-business model centric innovators, and customer involvement centric innovators. We conclude that these four service innovation clusters are service regime-specific, but less sector-specific. The service regime provides deeper insights for managing service firms and theoretical implications for managing innovation in services.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133319942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Chinese firms have experienced dramatic changes related to these two issues. A combination of case studies in this paper serves to identify the specific behavior of Chinese firms that operate in a transitional society undergoing social and economic transformation. The behavior of Chinese firms reflects the coexistence of both market-based and politically-oriented factors. The study also shows that a specific ownership structure is associated with the business strategies employed. The interaction between business strategy and ownership structure helps explain the process of the development of the Chinese firms within China's context.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115364855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the basis of the previous research, we supplement and confirm business model concept and propose an analytical framework of business model based on the value network. Then, we use the analytical framework to analyze 62 modern service companies of Chinese mainland Growth Enterprises Market (GEM) until the end of 2011. The tools of clustering are algorithms and programming of computer science. Finally, we analyze each model to characterize business model of the emerging modern service. It is also provide reference and guidance for practice.
