Converting ergonomic design knowledge in the web-enabled quick response system may be solved the bottleneck of the knowledge gap in between the end-users and companies. The main contribution of this paper addresses to establish a web-enabled quick response system with knowledge base, containing ergonomic design knowledge specific for furniture design. It is used as a case study in order to show how ergonomic design knowledge built with this system for different kinds of people to design their own furniture with special functions by applied ergonomic design knowledge base. This system can help the customers' tacit idea transferring to the engineering drawings as explicit knowledge. The knowledge-based system will be enlarged through customers' feedback, researches, and guidelines. The Integrated Definition (IDEF) Modeling Techniques of this system was analyzed and the prototype of this system was design.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"255 1-2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114131686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper adopts the case study methodology to explore the business model of Youheng Network Technology. The firm is a leading technology-based voice of internet phone operator in China. We discover four main pillars of its business model, which are product innovation, infrastructure management, customer relationship and financial aspects. This paper also embodies the possibility to develop a practical business model for China's technology-based new ventures and fosters understanding of business model's application in China.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"28 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121015195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new generation of cities, named smart cities, is emerging throughout the world towards distinctive and livable development. These cities are particularly perceived as favorable breeding territories for innovation and economic growth due to their specific advantages and positive externalities of their innovation systems. However, smart cities are not built in a day. Based on the lessons from world famous cities' formulation path, it has a long way to go before researching the vision of full sustainability. Thus, we put forward a framework of strategy schema for smart cities including six strategies and we also highlight the importance of interactions between different strategies.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116219718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vendor's innovation-related competences are used to capture vendor innovativeness. A multiple-case study was applied with two Contract Electronic Manufacturers. Based on the data analysis we propose a model for calculating a vendor's innovation potential measured by the deployment effect of innovation-related competences. The model suggests that a vendor's innovation potential will be higher if it fosters innovation capability as a distinctive competitive advantage than if it develops innovation capability as an adjunct to other capabilities.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122724492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The case study of Alibaba presents an example of how an innovation network in services is governed and how the governance provides the key resources for business model innovation. Alibaba establishes its innovation network by setting collaborative relationships with or acquisition of leading companies from different sectors of e-commerce industry. Three different governance mechanisms are defined for this case as equity-based governance, contract-based governance and trust-based governance. The well governed relationships between Alibaba and its partners in the innovation network are playing an important role in the business model innovation of Alibaba.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123326489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conceptual framework demonstrates that CSR strategy is one important antecedent of green innovation and different green innovations contribute to different firm performance. More specifically, proactive CSR strategy more leads to radical green innovation, while reactive CSR strategy more leads to incremental green innovation; radical green innovation is more positively correlated to short-term firm performance while incremental green innovation is more positively correlated to long-term firm performance. In addition, this paper identifies two condition variables (market absorptive capability and visibility of green innovation) which influence the relationship between green innovation and firm performance.","PeriodicalId":329450,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Symposium on Management of Technology (ISMOT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121446674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
