Emotion identification is important, as it could enhance many applications added-features that can improve human computer interaction aspect. Such improvement surely can help to retain customer satisfaction and loyalty in the long run and serves as an attraction factor for a new customer. Although many researchers have used many approaches to recognize emotion from speech, no one can claim superiority of their findings. This is because different feature extraction methods coupled with various classifiers may produce different performance depending on the data used. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the speech emotion identification system using two different feature extraction methods of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) and Linear Prediction Coefficient (LPC) coupled with Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) classifier. For further exploration, different numbers of MFCC filters are employed to observe the performance of the proposed system. The results indicate that MFCC-40 gives slightly better performance compared to the other MFCC coefficients in the Berlin EMO-DB and NTU_American whereas the MFCC-20 performs well for NTU_Asian. It is also observed that MFCC consistently performed better than LPC in all experiments, which are in-line with many reported findings. Personal Learning Environments (PLE) are systems that enable learners to manage their own learning process for attaining a specific goal. PLEs interconnect and integrate both formal and informal learning with self-regulated learning in tertiary education. Most of the PLEs are adopted at universities for learners to collaborate and share their ideas and content using different tools, communities and services. In this paper, we have created the architecture for a Personal Learning Environment specifically for the Self-help Maqam-based Search System built upon the seven maqams outlined in Al-Ghazali's Minhajul Abidin. This self-help system assesses a person's current state (maqam) of spirituality with an opportunity to learn ways of improving one's spiritual state as defined in Minhajul Abidin. Muslim's faith and practice refer primarily to the Al-Quran. The Al-Quran contains many subjects that concern us as human beings, including wisdom, doctrine, worship and law, including the relationship between Allah and His creatures. Being the principle book of the Muslim's faith, the Al-Quran has been translated into many languages to assist Muslims around the world to make use of it in their daily lives. Thus, studies on the Al-Quran have since gain popularity, particularly to extract implicit knowledge in the subject matters of the Al-Quran. This research investigates the frequent patterns that can be found in the chapters of a Malay translated Tafseer of the Al-Quran. Using a technique of frequent pattern mining, non-trivial patterns and interesting relations in the chapters of the Tafseer are extracted. These two factors directly affect students' cooperation in online learning. These factors also affect students' acceptance and usage of online learning. However, what are students' opinions on online learning in terms of interaction, communication, and cooperation during the online learning session? This research question is important because of its influences towards the role of the lecturer during online learning sessions. Quantitative method was used to collect the data through a survey in the form of a questionnaire aims to answer the research questions. The questionnaire was administered to 15 students every time after six (6) learning sessions they followed. Descriptive analysis of the questionnaire shows that the students have a positive opinion towards online learning in terms of interaction, communication, and cooperation. Whereas, the result using “Repeated Measure ANOVA” discovered that there is no significant difference on students' opinions. The results suggest that students' opinions should always be considered as the implementation of online learning may vary in each session. Therefore, the result affects the role of lecturers towards easing the learning process.
