To improve the intelligence and autonomy in assisting ships to make safe and quick decisions to avoid potential collisions, this paper proposes an optimization method for multiple ships to avoid collisions, based on predictive risk evaluation. Firstly, each ship makes trajectory predictions based on ship maneuverability model, and the inter-ship collision risk parameters calculation within a prediction horizon are calculated. To ensure that the ships choose suitable rudder angles to finish the collision avoidance process in an efficient way, an optimization problem is formulated using the knowledge with respect to the inter-ship collision risks and solved with a commercial solver. Preliminary results show that the proposed method can provide ships with the rudder angles they should choose and the corresponding rudder steering time to keep enough safe distance with the other ships.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117135927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to evaluate the impact of the line train diagram’s adjustment on the overall operation from the network level rather than a single line, a comprehensive evaluation method for the network train operation was presented. Taking the transfer station as the research object, the lines’ capacity coordination degree, connection success rate of last trains, network reachable rate at different time period and other indicators are constructed from the two aspects of the transfer station capacity and the train connection coordination. Based on the network passenger flow data and the realized train timetable, these indicators evaluate the operation state of the overall network when the line train diagram is adjusted. An Initial case study on Shanghai Metro network shows that this method can provide theoretical support for optimizing the train operation map from the network level.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"383 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116003827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, we examined arrival and departure delay duration distributions and used heatmaps to demonstrate the spatiotemporal frequency distribution of delays, delay increases, and delay recovery, and the heatmaps clearly show hot spots (coordinates with high frequencies) in a timetable. Then, we separated delays as discrete intervals according to their severity, and analyzed the delay increasing frequency and the delay increasing severity within each interval, so as to clarify the relationships of delay increasing probability and delay increasing severity with delay extents. Next, we investigated the observed delay recoveries and prescheduled buffer times at (in) station (section), which demonstrate the recovery ability of each station and section. Finally, to understand the key influencing factor of delay propagation, we analyzed the relationship between capacity utilization and delays, delay increases, and delay recoveries, by examining their Pearson correlation coefficients. These indicate that delay frequencies and delay increasing frequencies with Pearson correlation coefficients as high as 0.9 are highly dependent on capacity utilization. The uncovered delay propagation patterns can enrich dispatchers’ experience, and improve their decision-making ability during real-time dispatching in HSR.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116432409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The probability of malfunctions occurring or going to happen goes up during information transit. Therefore, the demand for fault diagnosis and fault prediction in information system would definitely grow gradually. In this paper, aimed to meet the above demand, we developed a data acquisition device based on various interfaces. The device can collect the data from ships information system and provide an excellent platform for data processing and data analysis. Combining with fault feature library and using big data mining and machine learning, it can predict and diagnose faults automatically. This device provides daily reliable protection for the system.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116433486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is essential to determine the ship domain in inland bridge-span waters to compensate the blank in this field. Aiming at contributing to this issue, this study proposes grid method in combination with Automatic Identification System (AIS) data to estimate domains for ships navigating in bridge-span waters. Firstly, the area surrounding the selected target ship is set as one with length of 3 km and width of 1 km, which is gridded into a series of basic grids. Secondly, the number of grids occupied by the nearby ships relevant to the target ship are accumulated along with the increasing time in the step of 2 minutes. The distribution of accumulated grids builds the grid density map for the target ship in the selected area. Thirdly, according to the number of the selected areas divided in the specific bridge-span waters, the equal number of grid density maps are superimposed to be defined as the grid density map for the specific bridge-span waters. Finally, the size and shape of ship domains are determined through analyzing the superimposed grid density map. It is noticeable that information of observations such as ship position are extracted from AIS. Taking the specific inland bridge-span waters, i.e. the waters of Wuhan Yangtze River from Erqi Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan to Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge, as case studies, the results demonstrate that the ship domains are asymmetric ellipses with different sizes. This phenomenon is aroused by the differences of ship behavior for which the setting of bridge piers and navigation regularities make sense.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121968832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to improve the safety level of mountainous highways, this paper proposes an optimize geometry design method of mountain highways by comprehensively considering the roles of vehicle and highway. Based on mechanical analysis of vehicle driving on curve sections, the force characteristics of sideslip and rollover for critical state of lateral instability is calculated, so as to establish a vehicle-road coordination safety model. By theoretically analyzing the relationship between highway design parameters (the minimum curve radius, super-elevation and the lateral adhesion coefficient) and driving speed, the critical safe speed is determined. Vehicle sideslip and rollover accidents are simulated via CarSim software, the critical safe speed and the safe model are verified. Model analysis and simulation results show that when the design speed exceeds 60 km/h, the specification of minimum radius is conservative. For high grade mountain highways with high design speed, traffic safety should focus on speed limiting, so the minimum curve radius can be reduced according to the calculations of the safety model and simulation results of the CarSim software. For low grade highways, the minimum radius should be increased to improve the safety level. For mountain highways with lateral adhesion coefficient less than 0.15 in a special environment, the minimum radius and super-elevation should be checked during design.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129464358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Underwater structures such as ships and pipelines will be subjected to the settlement of marine fouling organisms and then suffer from ship fouling after immersed in seawater. Some marine lives maintain their surface cleanliness through the micro structure of their own epidermis, which provides an important inspiration for the construction of microstructure antifouling coatings. In this study, Swimming crab is chosen as the main research object. The surface microstructures of this carb are investigated and measured by digital microscope and scanning electron microscope, which shows a composite scale microstructure on the surface of crabs. Cylinder-based microstructures with different spaces of $4 mu mathrm{m}$ and $7 mu mathrm{m}$ were formed on silicon wafers through reactive ion etching (RIE), according to actual tests for crabs' surface topography parameters. The antifouling tests of microstructures samples are conducted using phaeodactylum tricornutum. The results show that the microstructures with spaces of $4 mu mathrm{m}$ and $7 mu mathrm{m}$ has a good antifouling/fouling release performance. Proper design of biomimetic microstructure has a great contribution to antifouling surface.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130157614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a potential fuel-efficient driving mode of autonomous trucks, the truck platoon has been proposed and attracts great attention to vehicles connecting and control. However, simplified as an extreme long vehicle, autonomous truck platoon will undoubtedly affect the performance of traffic flow as it has an uncertain effect on the behavior of other vehicle drivers such as following and lane changing. Obviously, this effect deserves much attention. Besides, whether to set the special lane for platoons will become a notable issue considering traffic efficiency. To solve these problems, simulation of traffic flow will be the proper way. In this study, a three-lane cellular automaton (CA) model is proposed and the updated forwarding and lane changing rules are described in detail. Truck platoons contain two truck are considered. Based on the CA model, the influence of autonomous truck platoons on traffic flow such as lane changing frequency and average traffic speed is evaluated. Besides, the fundamental diagram of traffic flow is conducted. Compared to the existing cellular automaton models, the lane changing rules adopted in the proposed model differ according to driving scenarios and cell number varies in vehicle types in this study. As the results of numerical simulations show, to limit platoons on the special lane can higher the average speed of traffic flow and reduce the lane changing frequency. The existence of platoons improves the average traffic speed while setting special lane for platoons. However, when the traffic density grows up, this positive effect dissipates gradually.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128941588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the smoothing scheme proposed, trajectory similarity is firstly introduced to cluster several sub-trajectories obtained by reasonable segmentation. In particular, Euler distance is able to act as a measure of trajectory similarity. The sub-trajectories are matched into groups according to their similarities, and two-dimensional wavelet transform is developed to conduct the decomposition and reconstruction of trajectory groups, thus achieving the denoising of them. The final high-quality vessel trajectory is obtained by extracting and combining the data from the groups. Extensive experimental results have shown that the proposed method achieves excellent effect in trajectory denoising under the premise of retaining the original characteristics of the trajectory, in terms of both qualitatively and quantitatively.","PeriodicalId":325712,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132469233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
