The wind turbines which use DFIG generators provide a constant frequency although the rotor operates with variable speed, by means of the converter with IGBT AC-DC-AC transistors based on PWM control. The particle swarm optimization is a new technique that is used to solve complex problems. It minimizes a cost function under the cooperation of many individuals. Kalman Filter is used here to estimate the stator currents and rotor fluxes of the induction motor. The performances of the extended Kalman Filter and the adaptive Kalman Filter are analyzed. They are applied to estimate stator currents; rotor fluxes and rotor speed of the induction motor, and thus help to overcome the speed sensor, which is expensive and bulky. The extended Kalman Filter requires extending the state vector to rotor speed, which implies to use the linearization of the model. The adaptive Kalman Filter consists of determining the rotor speed adaptation law. A hybrid wye and delta shunt compensation can be a solution for eliminating neutral current and unbalance besides compensating the reactive power. The compensator is composed of shunt capacitors and parallel connected thyristor controlled reactors (TCR) by two three-phase circuits, delta and wye. In this work, a mathematical model is presented based on symmetrical components theory and three compensation strategies are derived. The models are validated with MATLAB simulation. Simulation is performed when it is applied for detection of imbalanced fault in utility power system. The power conditioner is required to remain connected when the fault occurs in the utility power system under certain condition. This is called as the fault ride through (FRT) ability. The most popular fault is 1 line-to-ground fault. This fault causes the imbalance voltages and currents in 3-phase power system. To optimize the output from the power conditioner of the photovoltaic system, the detection of the imbalanced condition is important factor. In this paper, the signal processing method by using the complex number algebra in real time system is shown at first. The fast detection of the imbalanced condition is verified by the computer simulations. Then the effects of the harmonic components existing in the system voltage have been investigated. It unifies a boost-type PFC power converter and a ZVS-SEPP high frequency inverter operating at a fixed frequency. On the other hand, conventional dual stage half-bridge high frequency inverters have PFC converters at the preceding stage followed by SEPP high frequency inverters at the final stage. Our improved circuit constitution brings out that its total conversion efficiency of the proposed inverter reaches more than 96 %. It comes from the fact that the output power is regulated using an asymmetrical PWM control technique at a fixed frequency of 20 kHz. It enables soft switching operation of all switching devices. In addition, total input power factor reaches almost unity by the aid of PFC converter function. This paper explains behavior of the proposed inverter circuit and its steady state operation, with the aid of simulation analysis. The current-doubler circuit is generally used for the high voltage input and low voltage output application to get high efficiency characteristics with reduced transformer turn ratio. However, an inductive circuit is not used in a secondary side for the LLC series resonant converter generally. When there is inductive circuit like current-double on the secondary side, the resonant characteristics are changed. In this paper, LLC converter with the current-doubler using coupled inductor is proposed. We verify that the secondary side current-doubler using coupled inductor is not affect to the resonant characteristic of primary LLC by the mathematical analysis. For this reason, analytical design should be performed in an optimum form. While motor analysis is accomplished by package programs, initial size parameters are intutivily provided and then various trials are examined to get optimum results. In this study, we are trying to find dimensional and electrical parameters generating mathematical equations in analytic approaches for In-Wheel Switched Reluctance Motor (IW-SRM), which will be employed by Electric Vehicle (EV). Therefore, optimum motor parameters for required speed and torque have been estimated by solving generated equations for in-wheel SRM with 18/12 poles via MATLAB. Using the parameters, analysis of in-wheel SRM has been carried out 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) by Ansoft Maxwell 15.0 Package Software. Although the technical infrastructure is an important issue, the economic benefits of the system should also be considered. Therefore, this study is focused on the evaluation of cost-benefit analysis of smart grid systems. As a case study, wind turbines are examined in the study constructed in Turkey. The general approaches to cost-benefit analysis are to calculate and compare the benefits and the costs for wind turbines. For this purpose, comparison of different wind turbine models are examined in terms of the cost of produced power at first. Then, efficient operating life of turbines and annual average operating capacity factors are considered. To reduce the current distortion caused by the dead time, the dead time compensation by the estimated output voltage distortion using the MRAS observer is investigated.
