The article aims to briefly survey the history of translating Shakespeare’s works into Lithuanian. Current developments in business, communication, and cultural production impact the scope and priorities of translations. Our archival research yielded limited information on Lithuanian translations of Shakespeare’s works and their quality. It raised more questions than provided answers. The findings show that the largest number of translations of Shakespeare’s works was made by Aleksys Churginas (published in 1946-1973). Four plays were translated by Antanas Danielius (published in 1983-1997). The two most recent translations by Saulius Repečka were published in 2016. No comprehensive studies of Lithuanian translations of Shakespeare’s plays or their publication/republication history currently exist. The translation of sonnets has been investigated in a doctoral thesis.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The realisation of these goals highly depends on creating and implementing socially responsible business products and services in the practical activities of companies encompassing economic, social and environmental factors. In today’s global and unfortunately restless world, it is very important not only to educate but also know the attitude, perceptions, aspirations, and values of young people (students), which are expressed by socially responsible businesses in the context of the global and harmonious development of Lithuania as a country. The article aims to reveal students’ attitudes towards the aspirations of socially responsible businesses in Lithuania and their intentions to start their own socially responsible business. The study involved 103 students of Panevėžys kolegija HEI studying accounting and logistics. The analysis of the data obtained during the research was carried out using the methods of scientific literature analysis and questionnaire survey. The research data were processed by the SPSS program. The statistical methods used include descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, and Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis statistical criteria. The research results revealed that for most students, it is important that Lithuanian companies operate following the principles of social responsibility. From the students’ point of view, the most important issues are product quality assurance, health protection, wage, enforcement of workers’ rights, and ecological waste management. The least important are the issues promoted by social integration, ethical advertising, innovativeness and economic benefits of products, development, and population employment. It was found that students evaluate one-third of the aspirations of socially responsible business differently depending on their study programme and age. Most of the surveyed students support introducing socially responsible businesses in Lithuania. After comparing the attitude of students of accounting and logistics towards implementing socially responsible business in Lithuania, it was revealed that more than half of accounting and one-third of logistics students support the implementation of socially responsible business in Lithuania. The analysis of students’ intentions to start personal socially responsible business showed that more than half of the students of accounting and logistics are planning to start private socially responsible businesses or have not yet fully decided.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This indicates a high prevalence of fear of dental procedures (Armfield et al., 2013). Oral health is often associated with fear of dental treatment. People who delay visits to the dentist because of fear of dental treatment experience more symptomatic and more severe oral disease (Armfield et al., 2007). Prevention of oral diseases is very important to maintain oral health (Judah et al., 2013). The research aims to reveal the links between fear of dental treatment in adults and preventing oral cavities. The objectives are to reveal the concept of fear in adults and the links between the concept of fear and the prevention of oral diseases; describe the most common diseases of the oral cavity because of the fear of dental treatment; and investigate the causes of adults’ fear of dental treatment and oral disease prevention. The methods included the analysis of scientific literature and survey data. To determine the links between adults’ fear of dental treatment and the prevention of oral cavities, a closed-ended written survey was used, consisting of questions compiled by the authors based on scientific literature. The study sample consists of 270 respondents who meet the selection criteria. The survey was conducted from 22 April 2022 to 30 April 2022. The research results revealed that most adults fear dental treatment, which is impacted by the experience of painful treatment or the dentist’s rude behaviour. People are usually afraid of being misunderstood due to oral hygiene, pain, analgesia, caries treatment, and tooth extraction. Most people who fear dental treatment try to avoid visits to an oral care professional and only pay a visit when problems arise. People who fear dental treatment underestimate their oral cavity’s condition and often do not properly perform individual oral hygiene.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of teachers’ competencies and the significance, structure, and levels of integrated and holistic competencies are analysed. The guidelines for training primary school teachers, the importance of cooperation of higher education institutions with practitioners applying the STEAM educational approach, and the relevance of curriculum improvement are discussed. 18 Lithuanian and foreign educators using the STEAM educational approach participated in a scientific focus group interview study. Having obtained the content analysis data, teachers’ experiences were analysed, and competencies were identified. Educators’ competencies were analysed based on the STEAM fields: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. The applicability of the STEAM areas in the educational process and other experiences of using the STEAM educational approach were identified. Using content analysis, the following categories were identified: the STEAM activities in education institutions (23 statements), General competencies in the STEAM (17 statements), Subject-specific competencies in the STEAM (11 statements), Most needed competencies (8 statements), Use of science in the STEAM (17 statements), Use of technology in the STEAM (21 statements), Use of Engineering in the STEAM (11 statements), Use of Arts and Culture in the STEAM (19 statements), Use of Mathematics in the STEAM (16 statements). The discussion of the participants in the study focuses on the following main sub-categories: Information Technology (11 statements), Creativity (9 statements), Application of knowledge in mathematics (7 statements), Project development (5 statements), Practical research (5 statements), Sharing of best practices (5 statements), New technologies and information management (4 statements), Design and construction (11 statements), Painting/Drawing (6 statements), Playing music (5 statements), and Data processing (6 statements). These main sub-categories reveal primary teachers’ competencies when applying STEAM education in their work. Creativity competence took a special place in the analysis of competencies. It is analysed in the article from integral, multifunctional, and holistic perspectives.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During online learning, the number of hours of contact learning between the lecturer and students decreases, more attention is paid to students’ self-study. Students lose the opportunity to receive informal emotional support from the academic staff and fellow students, and the sense of community and belonging to a higher education institution decreases. The research presented in the article aims to reveal students’ opinions about students’ support and their motivation during online studies while implementing a pilot online-taught study course. The research was conducted under the Erasmus+ project “Quality of Virtual Studies”. Students from four higher education institutions in Lithuania, Spain, Croatia, and Finland participated in implementing the pilot online learning course. Study courses taught remotely were designed based on the quality assurance criteria for virtual studies developed during the project. Students studied the pilot online-taught study course for three months. They completed questionnaires about their online learning experience twice: before and after they started participating in the course. The study results reveal that the most important source of support for students during online studies is communication with the lecturer. It was established that most students’ support during remote studies is provided by the following means: personal video or email from the lecturer, clear structure of the course studied remotely, clear procedures of the study course, and pre-announced hours of remote consultations with the lecturer. The study reveals that students are most motivated during online studies by receiving feedback from the lecturer, the interest of the academic staff in students’ motivation and motivational tools, a clear study plan of the course studied, the variety of innovative computer technology tools used during online studies, and the contribution of the lecturer, promoting cooperation between learners.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was one of the reasons for conducting this research and delving into the phenomenon of volunteering, the skills developed during volunteering activities, and the relevance of these skills in pedagogical activities. The role of the educator in contributing to the education of the future generation is extremely important; therefore, educators themselves should not only have extensive professional knowledge but also reinforce personal and interpersonal skills, known as “soft” skills, which help to become a mature person capable of solving personal problems, be active in a working environment, be ready to work both independently and in a group, take the initiative, etc. The article raises a problematic question - what are the connections between voluntary activities and the development of students’ “soft” skills? The research aims to reveal future educators’ attitudes to the links between voluntary activities and developing “soft” skills. The research applied the methods of scientific literature and document analysis, a written survey, and statistical analysis of the obtained data. The analysis of scientific literature revealed that volunteering could take very different forms – volunteering activities and volunteering services; local, national and international volunteering; specialised activities; activities of the representatives of specific age groups; and short-term and long-term volunteering. Each form has its own advantages, so it is very important to choose not only the topic but also the form that meets the volunteer’s needs. The study results showed that the participation of both Lithuanian and Latvian students in voluntary activities is not systematic. They reveal that the level of enhanced “soft” skills acquired by Lithuanian students during volunteering is greater compared to Latvian students. The future pedagogues of both countries positively assess both the volunteering phenomenon itself and the “soft” skills acquired during volunteering, which are especially important for developing specialists’ competencies, pedagogical professional and social activities. Both Lithuanian and Latvian students highly value the importance of volunteering and believe that they gained important experience and developed and reinforced “soft” skills, which are very important in their future professional activities - the abilities to work in a team, communicate and cooperate, make decisions, organise, and plan.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, together with organisational values, personal values usually exist. In an ideal case, these personal values are similar to organisational values. However, ideal cases are rare, so in this article, the link between personal values and job satisfaction is analysed. The importance of personal values for job satisfaction in a representative sample of working people in Lithuania was assessed. The results of data analysis showed that higher job satisfaction was preconditioned by higher education, more expressed (more important) security, self-direction, and personal values achievement types. Lower job satisfaction was preconditioned by more expressed (more important) power type of personal values. Also, this article discusses what is important for these types of personal values in professional and personal life, and their importance in professional activities is also discussed.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"112 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article raises a problematic question – how to improve the students’ support system of the higher education institution, Kauno kolegija, considering the availability of support? The research aims to reveal how effectively the availability of support for students functions in KK by disseminating information about support. Methods of scientific literature, case, document, content analysis and written survey were applied in the research. From a theoretical point of view, the needs of a higher education institution are viewed from two angles: the concepts of support and information dissemination. Empirical research focuses on the links between the analysis of the documents in the higher education space (European, national, and institution) and the content analysis of the KK information dissemination tools. A survey was conducted to learn the opinion of the target audience, students, on the personal relevance of support services and the need for information using the institution’s dissemination tools. The research results revealed that the KK academic and non-academic support system prevails, which is compatible with the needs of the European higher education space and operates on the “one-stop-shop” principle. The research results also revealed that the dissemination of information should be focused on studying Generation Z as the media generation by using an individualising service publicity strategy.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
