It is noted that the city has ambitions to become the most important gateway to the northeast of Lithuania. However, at the same time, it is one of the regions in Lithuania most affected by demographic changes. As the population age structure changes, so are the needs of the established population structure. The growing number of older people is also shifting the priorities for allocating society’s resources in the areas of economics, politics, social solidarity, health care, and social ecology, which implies the need to ensure the volume, composition, and quality of social services. The results of a survey of the population on the quality and demand for social services in the municipality, initiated by the municipality of Panevėžys, characterised the state of social services as not fulfilling expectations. In the context of the development of services, this study aims to assess the situation in the social services field from the providers’ point of view. The objectives of the study are focused on revealing the attitudes of social service providers towards the quality of services provided and the need for new services. The methods of data collection were interviews, and descriptive content analysis was used for processing. As a result of the research, the position on the supply of social services in Panevėžys City Municipality was divided. On the one hand, it was acknowledged that over the last 3 years, changes were observed in the city regarding the scope and structure of social services, although, in many cases, determined by changes in the external environment. In this sense, the growing role of the municipality as a change initiator was also mentioned. On the other hand, the shortage of specialists in certain areas, the workload, emotional burnout, lack of motivation of the staff, inefficient administration of social services and lack of interinstitutional cooperation and coordination have been identified as fundamental issues to be tackled, which are linked to the quality of the services that are being called into question. The study has shown a particular need to extend the scope of home care to social care and social care to daycare, intensifying short- and long-term social care. There is no clear need to expand the scope of social institutions. In terms of supply, the declared approach is to differentiate between institutions based on their capacity to ensure quality, considering the volume of activities, competencies, resources, and potential if there is a need for new social services in the city. The need for new social service providers has emerged.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It reveals the peculiarities in the search for teachers based on the results of empirical research from the perspective of principals of preschool institutions in Kaunas. The paper tries to find the answers to the problem questions of what the peculiarities of recruiting teachers are and what complex issues indicate specialists’ demand. The research aims to reveal the peculiarities of the search for preschool specialists and their employment trends in Kaunas. For this purpose, scientific literature, documents, and research survey data were analysed. The main research findings revealed that most survey respondents face difficulties searching for suitable specialists. In most cases, the employment of educators depends on situational factors. One of the most relevant criteria in the selection of specialists mentioned was the higher education degree of the candidate. Other mentioned statistically significant criteria were that the candidate is the graduate of a certain higher education institution; while studying, he/she had a pedagogical internship in the institution run by the respondent, or he/she has experience in other educational institutions. On the other hand, such criteria as random coincidence, the young age of the candidate or the contracted research performed by the candidate during his/her studies do not play any statistically significant role in recruiting employees. Based on the survey results, principals of preschool education institutions are satisfied with the qualification and competencies of the already employed graduates of Kauno kolegija; therefore, the qualification of these specialists is appreciated as positive and can be defined as matching the needs of the labour market. Among the factors that, in most cases, determine the employment of the graduates of Kauno kolegija, principals of preschool institutions point out the skills acquired and general and specific competencies developed during pedagogical internships. Less but still important are references from the higher education institution (or internship placements) and their theoretical professional knowledge. The practical experience acquired before or during the studies, the name of the higher education institution, contacts, random coincidence, or economic situation in the region do not play any significant role. This fact shows that principals of preschool institutions in Kaunas trust specialists who graduated from higher education institutions, acquired qualifications, developed competencies and gained practical skills.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The potential of fruit and berries for use in the production of distillates and spirits is increasingly being explored worldwide. The definition and requirements for fruit spirits are laid down in Regulation (EC) No. 110/2008. Spirits are alcoholic beverages based on fruit or other sugar-containing parts of plants. They are produced by alcoholic fermentation followed by distillation. Fruit berry distillate is not only a mixture of water and ethanol. It is made up of many aromatic components which are produced during fermentation and contribute to the sensory characteristics of the drink, i.e., taste and aroma. The research aims to analyse the content of by-products in the distillates produced during the fermentation of wine by using different plant materials. It is important to mention that alcoholic fermentation is not exclusively an anaerobic process in which yeast breaks down sugars to ethanol and CO2 through anaerobic fermentation with heat release. Fermentation is the process that produces a whole series of by-products which determine the composition and sensory characteristics of the wine and, subsequently, the distillates. The plants used for the study were blackcurrants, chokeberries, rhubarb, apples, and raspberries, which are widely grown in Lithuania. All samples were found to have methanol concentrations below the EU legal limit. The content of other impurities, i.e., higher alcohols, aldehydes, and esters, in the distillates was found to vary depending on the raw materials used for fermentation. The highest ester content expressed as ethyl acetate in g/ hl a.a. was found in apple and chokeberry distillate (69.53±14.60; 63,73±13,38, respectively), while the lowest content was found in blackcurrant wine distillate. The highest amount of aldehydes expressed as acetaldehyde in g/hl a.a. was found in the rhubarb wine distillate 1017.59±3.24, and the lowest amount was found in the blackcurrant wine distillate 50.37±9.57. Higher alcohols expressed as 2-methyl propanol, g/hl a.a. were found highest in the chokeberry wine distillate at 117,82±9,43 and the lowest in the blackcurrant wine distillate at 32,44±2,59. As shown by the study, the composition of the distillates of different raw materials (different fruit and berries) fermented under identical conditions differed. The paper presents the study results and analyses the causality of the results obtained.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For these reasons, soft and hard plaques accumulate, gingivitis forms, and alveolar bone dissolves. Complications of the dental implant, perimucositis and periimplantitis, may begin, resulting in the loss of the dental implant (Rudeejaraswan et al., 2023). Informing the patient and changing bad habits are very important factors for preserving the dental implant. General dentists claim that they play an important role in the oral health care of patients with dental implants, but their clinical practice does not always bear this out (Cheung et al., 2021). Studies show that patients who only use a toothbrush for oral care have a higher risk of developing dental implant complications than those who use additional oral care products (Hopcraft et al., 2021). To reach the research aim, a qualitative research method was chosen, a written survey by filling in a questionnaire. An examination using simplified OHI-s and GI indices was also applied, with the help of which the informant’s oral hygiene and gingivitis conditions were determined. 10 participants took part in the research. After analysing the awareness of the research participants about the care of dental implants and the connections with oral health, it was found that the knowledge of four informants about the care of dental implants is good or average. Still, the state of oral hygiene is satisfactory, and they have moderate gingivitis. Five informants have satisfactory knowledge of dental implant care, of which three participants have poor oral hygiene and moderate or severe gingivitis. The rest have satisfactory oral hygiene and moderate gingivitis. Analysing the relationship between informants’ oral hygiene habits and oral health, the habits of six study participants are satisfactory, resulting in satisfactory oral hygiene and moderate gingivitis. The study results show that people with dental implants lack information about individual and professional oral hygiene. Oral care professionals should pay more attention to instructing patients. Based on scientific research, it can be stated that the oral hygiene of informants with dental implants is different. Some informants use additional oral care products and regularly visit oral care specialists, so their oral hygiene is good, while others do not have enough motivation to pay more attention to oral hygiene.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Socio-economic factors and the surrounding environment are widely recognised as the main barriers to changing an individual’s social position in society, while the disparity between educational opportunities and learning outcomes is seen to be growing. This paper aims to address the ongoing challenges and opportunities to break down barriers to upward mobility and promote equal opportunities for all by looking at different intervention approaches, such as coaching and positive role models. International research involving participants from 6 European countries - Lithuania, Italy, Norway, Greece, Romania and the United Kingdom - was carried out to assess the effectiveness of the coaching method and its impact on unlocking learning potential in the educational setting. The research findings suggest that coaching effectively promotes learning and behavioural change in disadvantaged learners.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the paradigm of sustainable development, which states that it is necessary to live in such a way that the present resources are sufficient for future generations, the issues of social education for sustainable development are an important factor. The question arises whether there is even a single higher education institution at the non-university or university level in Lithuania today where sustainable development issues are not included in study programmes and separate courses related to sustainability are not taught. Various documents related to the Sustainable Development Goals (United Nations, 2015) and their implementation show that without an education system, without education, it is difficult to achieve sustainability. Therefore, the legitimate question arises whether higher educational institutions in Lithuania aspire to become “green” institutions, considering that these institutions are responsible for implementing the ideas of sustainability. The article aims to explore the situation of the Lithuanian HEI moving toward a green university. The research methods used include analysis of scientific literature and documents, content analysis, data processing. It can be assumed that in most Lithuanian higher education institutions, sustainability goals are integrated into the strategic plans and at the level of the institution as an organisation. However, the analysis showed that only a few Lithuanian universities are included in the green university rankings, and those do not reach the highest positions. Only a few universities and one non-university institution declare public information about the movement towards a green university. Only a few state non-university institutions in Lithuania declare social responsibility and provide publicly available social responsibility reports. Discussing the transition of higher education institutions from traditional to green institutions, it is useful to analyse the existing models or measurements of sustainability and the green university (HEI) paradigm. N.B. This article uses the terms non-university higher education institution and university as synonyms, especially when discussing a green university paradigm.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, it enables businesses to gather knowledge and make data-driven choices that enhance product quality, customers’ satisfaction, and market competitiveness. Data acquisition, which permits the collection and analysis of real-time data from equipment and processes, is a crucial component of the digitalisation of industrial automation. Predictive maintenance may, therefore, be utilised to decrease downtime, enhance quality control, and optimise operations. The paraffin candle production process is being discussed, and its key variables are being identified for the purpose of digitisation. The study proposes data collection and processing methods from a candle production line and uses an IoT-enabled controller to collect and analyse data. The PLC software that reads, processes, and saves data in a SQL database on a remote PC is then built based on these techniques. An MSSQL database is used to store information on process variables, including temperatures, cycle times, and downtimes, for the different candle production stages, including the paraffin preparation tank, extruder, and conveyor for cutting candles. The database acts as a storage location for the gathered information, which can then be utilised to analyse and improve the manufacturing process. Python and the open-source package Streamlit were used to provide a user-friendly interface for operators. The interface allows the user to select historical data for each item of equipment by time and relevant variables, and it shows the filtered data in an understandable graphical style. This allows the operator to evaluate the production process, spot trends, and optimise it. With the use of support and assistance technologies, the data may be used for decision-making in future.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the key factor for spreading awareness and attracting new consumers, advertising has gained power by employing the written word as the best means of communication. Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and many others) are chosen more and more often as they are used by a profuse number of potential customers. A lot of companies have acknowledged that thoughtfully chosen linguistic tools might enhance the popularity of the promoted product or service. Thus, the article aims to unveil the effectiveness of phonetic and semantic devices in advertisement slogans, analyse linguistic peculiarities that boost public interest and curiosity, specify which linguistic techniques evoke most of the emotions and make the advertisement both gripping and memorable. The research was based on the application of theoretical and descriptive comparative linguistic analysis methods. Having analysed a great many advertisement slogans, the number of samples carefully elucidated and presented in this article was 13, as they contained the required linguistic segments set in the objectives of this research, i.e., onomatopoeia, alliteration, rhyme, and rhythm, as well as denotative and connotative elements of the lexical meaning. The article reveals that the proper use of linguistic devices benefits to attract and manipulate the target audience; phonetic devices enable to reach the effect of memorability, whereas semantic devices play a crucial role in the domain of emotions.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being active in a child’s life can increase the child’s confidence, build a closer bond between parent and child, and increase the child’s chances of becoming a successful adult. However, excessive involvement and control over a child’s life can lead to negative consequences for the child’s development. Overparenting refers to overprotective and controlling behaviour towards the child when the parents tend to micromanage their child’s lives, make decisions for them, and shield them from challenges and disappointments. The study aims to reveal the behavioural characteristics of overparented children and their parents. 262 teachers across six countries (Slovenia, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, and Lithuania) participated in the study. An online survey using closed and open-ended questions was used to collect the data. The study results revealed that overparenting can negatively affect a child’s development, leading to dependence, poor decision-making skills, anxiety, reduced academic performance, and lack of resilience. Overparenting parents tend to micromanage their children’s lives, shield them from disappointment, and have unrealistic expectations. They may also lack trust in teachers, leading to strained relationships. Survey results suggest a lack of positive parenting skills and understanding of child development. To promote healthy parenting, it is crucial for parents to develop emotional regulation skills, positive parenting skills, and knowledge of their child’s social and emotional needs.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The European Union is issuing many new documents and regulations to force structural changes in the entire financial system and stimulate the transformation of the economy. In this case, a new regulatory framework impacts banks to accept responsibility for providing more green services. Banks have to introduce innovative financial products into the market, and each operation must be environmentally friendly. Lithuania has an ambition to be a leader in green finance development in the region. Lithuania has been assigned the Strategy and Action Plan (2021; 2023) for developing green finance in the country and pursuing to be a hub for sustainable finance locally and internationally. In the academic context, it can be seen that there are not enough instruments to be used to assess the green transformation of banks. Based on this external context, this study aims to clarify the green actions of banks in the transition to green finance, choosing publicly published sustainability reports as the subject of study. The article presents the green transformation assessment criteria and evaluates the green activities of the four largest banks operating in Lithuania according to the information provided in their latest sustainability reports. Two objectives have been set: to systematise the green assessment criteria and evaluate the information provided in the sustainability reports of the selected banks. When evaluating the data provided by the banks, the following methods were applied: systematisation of scientific literature, analysis of statistical data from the Bloomberg database, and comparative analysis. The study revealed that the Scandinavian companies’ reports present all the latest information considering various methodologies. Still, all four banks have a very cautious strategy regarding customer transformation. In 2023, according to Regulation (EP) 2020/852 2020), banks must strengthen their green activities to publicise their green investment and assets indicators.","PeriodicalId":32541,"journal":{"name":"Mokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai Lietuvos Kolegijose","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71324984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
