This research was a research that explored language data from aspects of monolingualism in the frame of the Linguistic Landscape. The problem formulation in this study was, how the meaning and function of Kawi language on public signs in Probolinggo City. The method in this study used a qualitative method with Landry and Bourhis's Linguistic Landscape theory approach. Data collection techniques in this study used tools such as a photo camera or qualitative audio and visual materials. However, data analysis techniques included data copy, data classification, and data translation. Data was collected in photos containing Kawi language writing on public signs. The results of this study indicated that there were 13 public signs that used Kawi language. This study aims to examine the form, function, and meaning of language in its implementation as a communication medium for health protocols campaigned by the government. CHSE includes Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment. CHSE is one of the strategies of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in restoring the tourism sector. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive with a natural setting to examine the dynamics of the form, function, and meaning of the health protocol language implemented in the Badung tourism area. The object of this research is illocutionary communicative acts in the language of health protocols. Research data in the form of language forms of health protocols were analyzed using a pragmatic perspective to find out how the context of the situation affects the way of interpreting sentences and utterances related to the language of health protocols by paying attention to certain contexts. Thus, it can be concluded that the CHSE health protocol can simply be referred to as a public service advertisement or commonly referred to as a social campaign using illocutionary communicative speech acts. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the level of role of parents, friends, and social media in local language, analyze their attitude toward their local language maintenance, and analyze the influencing role of parents, friends, and social media towards IPB University students’ attitude on the local language maintenance. The method used in this study was quantitative descriptive. The participants were 98 respondents from IPB University (PPKU IPB students). Data was collected using a questionnaire, observation, and interviews. Quantitative data was processed by multivariate statistics to analyze the influencing role of parents, friends, and social media towards IPB University students’ attitude on the local language maintenance. The results of this study revealed that respondents had higher cognitive knowledge towards local languages. This aspect was the same as other aspects like affective and conative component. This indicated that respondents had a good awareness and behavior towards local languages. The role of parents had a positive and significant influence towards the students’ attitude of local language maintenance. {"title":"Balinese Language on the Street Signs in Singaraja Town, Bali: A Linguistic Landscape Analysis","authors":"I. M. S. Some previous research revealed that Balinese language is rarely used in public spaces. The local government implements Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2018 to officially protect the language, including its existence in public spaces. This research explores the existence of Balinese language and script on the lingual street signs in Singaraja, North Bali. Further, the distribution of the lingual street signs is also investigated to reveal the government's primary and secondary target areas in language protection. The subjects of the study are 151 street signs that are placed by the department of transportation of Buleleng regency. The data are obtained through photograph taking and observation. The research reveals that the presence of Indonesian language marginalizes Balinese language. The regulation only successfully improves the use of Balinese script instead of the use of Balinese language. In terms of the sign distribution, the government focuses on signs with Balinese script at the center of the town due to the intense language contact in the area.  AbstrakKeberadaan bahasa daerah di Indonesia, termasuk bahasa Bali sering dihubungkan dengan isu marginalisasi. Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya mengungkapkan bahwa bahasa Bali jarang digunakan di ruang publik. Pemerintah daerah Bali telah menerapkan Peraturan Gubernur Nomor 80 Tahun 2018 untuk secara resmi melindungi bahasa dan aksara Bali, termasuk keberadaannya di ruang publik. Sehubungan dengan itu, penelitian ini menggali keberadaan bahasa dan aksara Bali pada rambu-rambu jalan lingual di Singaraja, Bali Utara. Selanjutnya, sebaran rambu-rambu jalan lingual juga diselidiki untuk mengungkap wilayah sasaran primer dan sekunder pemerintah dalam perlindungan bahasa Bali. Subyek penelitian adalah 151 rambu jalan yang dipasang oleh Dinas Perhubungan Kabupaten Buleleng. Data diperoleh melalui pengambilan foto dan observasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa bahasa Bali terpinggirkan dengan kehadiran bahasa Indonesia. Peraturan gubernur tersebut hanya berhasil meningkatkan penggunaan aksara Bali ketimbang penggunaan bahasa Bali. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis. The results show that morphological process of the words pembelajar and pebelajar are formed by giving prefix peN- on the basic form of belajar (verb). These two words are categorized as an agentive one-two in pairs. The first agentive acts as an ordinate, while the second agentive acts as an sub-ordinates. On the other hand, the word pemelajar is formed by the process of prefixing peN- on the basic form of pelajar (noun). Besides, semantically, the word pembelajar means as a person who gives learning to students, and the word pebelajar is a person who receive learning. While the word pemelajar, semantically, it does not has a clear concept of meaning. This is an inseparable part of the language and cultural facts about the palace. Local knowledge that becomes the local wisdom of a community in the palace building has the potential to contribute to the state to exercise sustainable development authority, so that current and future developments still pay attention to the harmony of nature. This study aims to reveal the symbolic meaning of green ethnoarchitecture as a disaster mitigation effort to address the issue of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or sustainable development recorded in the ethnoarchitecture lexicon of the Keraton Kasepuhan Cirebon. The approach used to study this phenomenon an ethnolinguistic approach. Language data in the form of an ethnoarchitecture lexicon using a qualitative descriptive Data collection techniques observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that based on the description of the palace building, the architectural lexicon can be classified based on the type, section, and building material. The lexicon in addition to having a lingual function also has a symbolic meaning. The concept of green architecture is the use of sustainable building materials. Sumber data lokasional penelitian ini adalah poster-poster vaksinasi Covid-19 yang diperoleh dari google pictures yang telah diunduh dan diakui penyitirannya sesuai dengan prosedur ilmiah yang berlaku, sehingga tidak bertentangan dengan prinsip-prinsip etik ( ethical clearance ) penelitian berbasis internet. Data penelitian ini berupa tuturan dan gambar grafis yang terdapat dalam poster-poster vaksinasi Covid-19 yang di dalamnya terkandung metafungsi interpersonal. Data diperoleh di seputar waktu pelaksanaan penelitian, yakni pertengahan hingga akhir tahun 2021. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik membaca dan mencatat. Metode yang mewadahi kedua teknik pengumpulan data tersebut adalah metode simak. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dengan baik diseleksi untuk memisahkan data baik dan data nakal atau tidak baik. Data yang baik selanjutnya diklasifikasi untuk mendapatkan tipe-tipe data untuk dikenakan metode dan teknik analisis data. Data divalidasikan kepada pakar dan teori yang relevan. Data dianalisis dengan metode analisis padan ekstralingual. Lanskap pemadanan dilakukan pada aspek-aspek ekstralingualnya. Hasil penelitian metafungsi interpersonal dalam perspektif multimodalitas ini ini adalah: (1) Metafungsi interpersonal pemberi kejelasan alur pelaksanaan vaksinasi Covid-19, (2) Metafungsi interpersonal pemotivasi orang menjalani vaksinasi Covid-19, (3) Metafungsi interpersonal pengajak menyukseskan program vaksinasi Covid-19, (4) Metafungsi interpersonal pemberi penjelasan dampak vaksinasi Covid-19, (5) Metafungsi interpersonal pengajak warga melaksanakan vaksinasi Covid-19. Dengan temuan-temuan metafungsi dalam siberteks tersebut dapat ditegaskan bahwa metafungsi interpersonal dalam perspektif multimodalitas dapat bermanifestasi beragam. Keberagaman manifestasi tersebut tidak lepas dari teknologi sebagai bagian pokok dari budaya yang menjadi penentu perkembangan bahasa di era baru sekarang ini. Abstract The purpose of this study was to describe the interpersonal metafunctions of the Covid-19 vaccination cyber text in a multimodality perspective. The source of the locational data for this research was the posters of Covid-19 vaccination obtained from google pictures which have been downloaded and acknowledged that their citation was in accordance with applicable scientific procedures, so that they did not conflict with ethical clearance principles of internet-based research. The data of this research were in the form of speeches and graphic images contained Covid-19 vaccination posters which contain interpersonal metafunctions. Adverbs are “words” that function to specify or locate the proposition expressed within the clause. By this concept, I limit my attention to merely what the so called “extra clausal adverbs”, a categorical concept along with noun, adjective, verb, etc. This concept is fundamentally differentiated from “adverbials”, elements of  clause structure along with subject, predicate, object, etc. By using data collected through introspective methods and some extracted from Intisari, and after analyzing them using distributional analysis followed by its continuation techniques (permutation, paraphrase, and comparison), the reasearch found that Indonesian adverbs are formally constructed at least by four kinds of morphological process, i.e. conversion, affixation, reduplication, and compounding. As far as the semantic roles are concerned, they can mainly be classified into four types, i.e adverbs of manner and state, adverbs of modality, adverbs  of frequency and quantity, adverbs of time. Finally, the differences that hold among Indonesian adverbs belong to the same semantic types might be related to  degree of formality, intensity, politeness, and style of the utturances. AbstrakMakalah ini bertujuan untuk memerikan bentuk dan makna adverbia dalam bahasa Indonesia. Adverbia adalah kata-kata yang berfungsi untuk mengkhususkan atau melokasikan proposisi yang diungkapkan oleh sebuah klausa. Dengan konsep ini, penulis membatasi perhatian pada apa yang selama ini disebut adverbia ekstra klausal, konsep kategori yang sepadan dengan nomina, adjektiva, verba, dsb. Konsep ini secara fundamental dibedakan dengan adverbial, elemen struktur  klausa yang sepadan dengan subjek, predikat, objek, dsb. Dengan data yang dikumpulkan melalui metode introspektif dan beberapa di antaranya dikumpulkan dari Majalah Intisari, dan setelah menganalisisnya dengan metode distribusional disertai dengan teknik lanjutannya (permutasi, parafrase, dan perbandingan), penelitian menemukan bahwa adverbia bahasa Indonesia sekurang-kurangnya dikonstruksi secara formal dengan proses konversi, afiksasi, reduplikasi, dan pemajemukan. Sementara itu berdasarkan peran semantisnya adverbia bahasa Indonesia dapat dibedakan menjadi adverbia cara dan keadaan, modalitas, keseringan dan kuantitas, dan waktu. Arka","doi":"10.26499/rnh.v11i1.4504","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26499/rnh.v11i1.4504","url":null,"abstract":"This paper discusses the power of bhuta in the lontar (palm leaf) manuscript of Roga Sanghara Bhumi (RSB), in the context of Covid-19 in Bali, from an ethnolinguistic perspective. The RSB manuscript is a treasure documenting local knowledge reflecting Balinese Hindu culture about the existence of bhuta as a negative force causing disease outbreaks. The linguistic aspects examined and discussed include the integration of various lexico-grammatical elements, textually and contextually related to power and pandemics. The study is qualitative descriptive; important findings include the use of ethnolinguistic capital and local Balinese-Hindu symbols related to the conception/role of bhuta's power and rituals practised by the Balinese, and how the Balinese maintain the dynamic balance of the universe's harmony and well-being. Evidence of ethnolinguistic resources includes multi-lingual diglossic closely related to the function of RSB as a reference of advice to deal with pandemics. Cultural contextual features in RSB describe the cosmology, description and explanation of the occurrences of various outbreaks (sasab, gering, mrana, grubug) and the role of butha and its handling. Analysis in the context of Covid-19 is also provided.
