The availability of promotional texts in the form of language games can be considered a strategic asset, as it can capture the reader's attention and sustain their interest throughout the text, particularly in the context of tourism. The study employed various methodologies such as data acquisition and gathering, data classification and evaluation, and recording the results. A comprehension strategy is a familiar approach wherein we focus on the textual representation of information. The data analysis findings indicate that the utilization of promotional texts in the form of language games possesses a certain degree of strategic significance. This value is exemplified notably through the existence of syntactic deviation, equivocal forms, phonetic wordplay, and the accuracy of vocabulary.  AbstrakKemajuan pariwisata di Indonesia telah difasilitasi melalui berbagai pendekatan implisit dan bernuansa, seperti kegiatan berbasis bahasa dan sektor inovatif. Ketersediaan teks promosi dalam bentuk permainan bahasa dapat dianggap sebagai aset strategis, karena memiliki potensi untuk menarik perhatian pembaca dan mempertahankan minat mereka sepanjang teks, khususnya dalam konteks pariwisata. Studi ini menggunakan berbagai metodologi seperti perolehan dan pengumpulan data, klasifikasi dan evaluasi data, dan pencatatan hasil. Strategi pemahaman adalah pendekatan yang akrab bagi kami, di mana kami memusatkan perhatian kami pada representasi informasi secara tekstual. Temuan analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan teks promosi dalam bentuk permainan bahasa memiliki tingkat signifikansi strategis tertentu. This research is an innovation in the implementation of online learning in Indonesian language courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is Research & Development (R&D) 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). The developed product was tested on students to determine the effect on learning outcomes. Based on the results of the media expert's validation, it was obtained in the Very Good category with an ideal percentage of 95%, and the material expert validation obtained an ideal percentage of 90% with the Very Good category. This indicates that the digital quotient-based flipbook learning media book is feasible to be used as a learning medium. Then the media was tested on students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UIN Sunan Ampel, the data obtained was 2,787 > 2,145 = significant. The data shows an increase from before being given the media to before being given the media. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the development of flipbook media based on digital quotient is effective in improving student learning outcomes.  AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan media flipbook berbasis digital quotient untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar bahasa Indonesia di perguruan tinggi Islam. Penelitian ini merupakan inovasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran online pada mata kuliah Bahasa Indonesia selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Research & Development (R&D) model 4D (Define, Design, Development, dan Disseminate). Produk yang dikembangkan diuji cobakan kepada mahasiswa untuk mengetahui pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli media didapatkan kategori Sangat Baik dengan persentase keidealan sebesar 95%, dan validasi ahli materi mendapatkan persentase keidealan sebesar 90% dengan kategori Sangat Baik.  Hal ini menandakan bahwa buku media pembelajaran flipbook berbasis digital quotient layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Kemudian media diuji cobakan terhadap mahasiswa UIN Sunan Kalijaga dan UIN Sunan Ampel diperoleh data 2,787 > 2,145 = signifikan. Data menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dari sebelum diberikan media menjadi sebelum diberikan media. Each dialect can be distinguished by distinct vocabularies and pronunciation; for example the Cockney dialect use the glottal stop [?] instead of alveolar stop [t] in words like butter and bitter, so they are pronounced as [bΛ?ər] and [bɪ?ər]. These distinctive dialects’ pronunciation can be identified easily in spoken interaction, but it would be more problematic if it was represented in written text, such as in a novel. This paper attempts to analyse the distinguishing features of six intra-national varieties of British English found in the detective novel ‘Troubled Blood’ by Robert Galbraith, which is a pseudonym of J.K. Rowlings. The data for this study were taken from the speech samples of six characters from six regional dialects: Irish, Cornish, Scottish, Cockney, Eastender, and Essex. The speech samples data were extracted from the chapters in which the detective (Strike) or her partner (Robin) conversed with the chosen characters whose language backgrounds were stated clearly in the novel. The data were analysed by transcribing the speech samples phonetically, then from the transcriptions, phonetic features of each regional variation were identified using the theories of sociophonetic and regional variations. The interpretation of the sounds was based on the standard British English pronunciation. Results showed that a woman with East End dialect had some characteristics such as omission of initial h-sound, as in ‘appens, ‘ad, ‘eadaches, while a Scottish dialect was identified by the use of ‘havenae’ for ‘have not’. These results indicate that regional dialects or variations can be represented accurately in written text. Yet, it also suggests that the writer should have ample knowledge of each dialect to be able to represent distinctive variations in their writing.  AbstrakBahasa Inggris British memiliki beberapa variasi regional untuk hampir setiap wilayah Inggris, misalnya Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cornwall, dan sebagainya. Setiap dialek dapat dibedakan dengan kosakata dan pengucapan yang berbeda; misalnya dialek Cockney menggunakan glottal stop [?] alih-alih alveolar stop [t] dalam kata-kata seperti ‘butter’ dan ‘bitter’ sehingga diucapkan sebagai [bΛ?ər] dan [bɪ?ər]. Setiawan","doi":"10.26499/rnh.v11i2.5177","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26499/rnh.v11i2.5177","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to examine the portrait of linguistic landscape (LL) and its social aspects as reflected in the health protocols (Prokes ‘Protokol Kesehatan') banners and billboards in public spaces in Malang. Thus, it attempts to answer two questions: (1) what are the perceptions and attitudes of the people of Malang city towards the various calls for health protocol? and (2) how effective are the calls in impeding the outbreak of Covid-19 in Malang city? According to Backhaus (2006), several important criteria to consider to ensure valid data collection in LL study are geographic location, characteristics of banners and billboards, and what counts as monolingual and multilingual banners. The research areas were therefore divided into two: (1) some residential areas and shopping centers in Malang city to collect non-official signs and (2) city centers which include major arterial roads, Pasar Besar area, city square, and areas around the city hall to collect official signs. Data in the form of photos of billboards and banners were taken using a mobile phone camera between May and July 2021. The curated 63 photos of Prokes banners and billboards were then qualitatively analyzed following the LL framework (Backhaus, 2006; Spolsky & Cooper, 1991) and triangulated with data from interviews. Adopting random sampling technique, 11 interviewees belonging to the middle class and 10 from the lower class were chosen to determine public perceptions of the effectiveness of the calls. The results show that the non-official banners featured more multilingual banners than did the official ones, and hence amplifying the results of the existing research on LL. As for the respondents’ perception, official banners were more preferable as they used Boso Walikan and were more assertive and illustrative. Although the two respondent groups agreed that the banners were not effective, they had different views about what mediums were more effective. The middle class considered campaigns using social media to be more effective, while the lower class preferred direct counseling. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potret lanskap linguistik (LL) dan aspek sosialnya sebagaimana tercermin dalam spanduk dan baliho Protokol Kesehatan (Prokes) di ruang publik di Kota Malang.
