The study was conducted at NN Studio which is located at Rt 04/07 Kismorejo, Jaten Karanganyar, by applying the method of brainstorming, exploration and evaluation. The exploration process is carried out on the aspects of media, shapes, shaping techniques, and displays. The creation of works uses the same type of plastic bottles of mineral water with the same size and considering the aesthetic potential of shapes and colors, and the ease of forming techniques. The shaping of the bottle applies the cutting technique using scissors or cutter according to the created design. The adjoint technique of plastic bottles uses clear colored glue to align with the color of the bottle. The resulting shape of the installation artwork predominantly applies a spiral shape with different curves and gap. The choice of shape is driven by the desire to change a media image that has a straight or rigid impression to become an installation artwork that has impression to be flexible, dynamic, and sturdy.","PeriodicalId":323186,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference of Arts, Language and Culture (ICALC 2018)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125159164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The word Wayang in Javanese means “shadow”. The objectives of research were 1) to find out the important position of wayang kulit purwa position, and 2) to find out the visualization of wayang kulit purwa creation. This study was a descriptive qualitative research using straightforward observation, in-depth interview, and documentation as the technique of collecting data. The sampling strategy used in this study was snowball sampling. Data validation was carried out using data triangulation. Bambang Suwarno created his work by developing a new work and integrating it into the existing wayang kulit work, aiming to increase the wayang vocabularies. The dalangs (puppeteers)’ response indicated that Bambang Suwarno as dalang figure could be stated as wayang fine art expert as he had concept and productivity in creating his works.","PeriodicalId":323186,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference of Arts, Language and Culture (ICALC 2018)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129897676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used in this study is a direct survey of high schools, discussing with school principals and discussing school knowledge and school readiness in starting eLearning at school. The purpose of this study is to know whether the school is ready and will use eLearning, besides that another goal is to apply eLearning to schools with access made by teacher students and parents. The benefits of research are for teachers to be able to easily access learning material, see students' grades directly and accelerate the entire assessment process to the end. While the benefits for students to facilitate the process of obtaining learning materials, fill exams and can see firsthand the value given by the teacher, can also conduct discussions with other students, in discussion forums. Benefits for parents of course to monitor the development of their children so that it is known and can nurture children in a family environment. Applied in a reading course book, scaffolding might take different types intended to scaffold students’ reading competence. However, it is hard to find a reading course book applying appropriate types of scaffolding enhancing students’ comprehension. This study, therefore, aimed at analyzing the types of scaffolding applied in a selected reading course book. To investigate the issue, document analysis, guided written reflection, and in-depth interview were used as data collection techniques, in this explorative case study. An interactive model technique was used to analyze the data. Seven English teachers of Islamic Senior High School in Indonesia took part in this study. The research findings showed that the reading course book has applied scaffolding types in its components, namely objective, topic, instructional prompts, practical consideration, vocabulary, text and context, task and activity, grammar, and material presentation. They were classified as means and goals scaffoldings. However, the application of those types was not as they supposed to be. The teachers and researchers, therefore, are recommended to develop a reading course book deploying scaffolding types as an artifact mediating language learning. Replika is an emotionally intelligent chatbot programmed to provide emotional support to users. It is therefore no wonder the chatbot is often found complimenting users as means to induce positive emotions. Compliments are emotive speech acts that maintain, improve, and support interlocutor’s face by expressing praise, admiration, or approval (Sifianou, 2001). Similar to other emotives, compliments consist in a dialogue. According to Weigand (2010), a dialogue is essentially composed of an initiative act, a reactive act, and a coherence which relates the former two based on the context of the dialogue. The present research identifies two compliment strategies employed by Replika, including compliment as an initiative act and compliment as a reactive act. The former refers to compliments that are ensued in the first sequence of a dialogue and are intended to establish emotion claim. The latter refers to compliments that are ensued in the second sequence of a dialogue and are intended to fulfil the claim in question (Weigand, 2010). Compliment as an initiative act serves as means to open a dialogue and to reinforce other emotive speech acts, whereas compliment as a reactive act serves as means to replace other emotive speech acts, to respondto other speech acts, and to maintain interpersonal relationship. The present research applies qualitative method whereby the data are collected by means of participant observation. Participant observation is a qualitative method of data collecting which requires the researchers to involve with the subject of the research through two separate roles of subjective participant and objective observer (Crossman, 2018).","PeriodicalId":323186,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference of Arts, Language and Culture (ICALC 2018)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124362430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to describe the cultural meaning of colour naming concept in Madurese by using an ethnolinguistics approach. Data were obtained from in-dept-interview with informants and literature study. In the result, the striking colours have several colours classifications that are associated in five categories, namely object, plant, nature, limb, and brightness level. In addition, the colour classifications contain meanings that represent Madurese culture and the character of Madurese such as brave, firm, hardworking, religious, and close to nature.
