Central to this defense is an examination of the narrative analysis in mediating second-person experience as a tool to gain both self-understanding and understanding others. This study is a combination of the expository, the analytical, and the critical methods. It is expository because it aims to understand how Stump explores the variant variable in seeking the meaning and explanation of human interaction. It is analytical because it examines how second-person experience can be communicated in narrative. And it is critical because it introduces a methodological concept in dealing with her thoughts and demonstrates in which sense her approach is tenable or not. In developing this approach, I introduce the second-person perspective and the nature of knowledge that is acquired through narrative. I conclude with a discussion of the contribution of narrative connectedness to the understanding of the other as a person. Bagi setiap individu, proses politik ini menempatkan kebebasan dalam risiko. Dengan alasan demi keselamatan bersama, tiap orang dikondisikan untuk tidak menjadi subjek yang bereksistensi dan mengejar tujuannya sendiri. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini ingin menjawab pertanyaan dasar soal bagaimana strategi kuasa dijalankan dan mengarahkan tindakan individu pada masa pandemi dan bagaimana individu bisa menjadi subjek yang menentukan diri dan subjektivitasnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah meta-analisis dan hermeneutika dengan menggunakan kerangka teori filsafat politik Michel Foucault. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan bahwa dalam masa pandemi covid-19 ini, strategi kuasa terhadap individu dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan politik komunitas/masyarakat yang dianggap lebih penting daripada tujuan pribadi individual. Situasi ini menantang eksistensi subjektivitas. Meski demikian, belajar dari Foucault, peneliti menemukan bahwa eksistensi subjek tetap bisa dibentuk sekalipun individu berada dalam situasi kontrol politis. Salah satu indikatornya adalah menyelaraskan manuskrip dalam bentuk Bahasa Inggris untuk menjalin komunikasi dan memberikan kontribusi ilmiah dalam skala internasional. Melalui perubahan strategis ini, Jurnal Filsafat berkomitmen secara sungguh-sungguh meningkatkan kapasitasnya untuk meraih Akreditasi Peringkat Sinta 1.Pada Edisi 32 Nomor 1 Februari 2022, Jurnal Filsafat menampilkan enam artikel dengan jumlah penulis sepuluh orang. Tiga artikel dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan tiga artikel dalam Bahasa Inggris. Melalui strategi baru ini, harapan kami, Jurnal Filsafat mulai secara konsisten melakukan peralihan dari Bahasa Indonesia ke Bahasa Inggris, sehingga ruang diskusi ilmiah-filosofis dengan berbagai filsuf, pemikir, dan penulis di seluruh dunia, dapat terbuka lebih luas. Penulis pertama, Martin Suryajaya, menyajikan artikel berjudul “Asal-Usul Pemikiran tentang Sekularisme di Abad Pertengahan”. Suryajaya berusaha melacak asal-usul wacana sekularisme dalam filsafat politik Abad Pertengahan, khususnya dalam pemikiran Dante Alighieri, Marsilius Padua dan William Ockham. Suryajaya memeriksa respons terhadap kekuasaan mutlak gereja namun secara bersamaan melihat terdapat benih-benih sekularisme dalam pemikiran William Ockham. Dante dan Marsilius Padua justru mengklaim bahwa otoritas religius dikandung dalam otoritas sekuler. Hasil pembacaan Suryajaya ialah membedakan model sekularisme modern dengan abad pertengahan.Artikel kedua, bertajuk “To Believe in Historical Progress: On Axel Honneth’s Normative Grounding of Critique” ditulis oleh Min Seong Kim. Kim mengupas secara kritis teori kritis Axel Honneth yang digunakan untuk melampaui rasionalitas komunikatif Habermas dengan cara melibatkan kritik imanen yang kuat untuk menjamin adanya dasar normatif kritik tanpa mengandalkan prinsip-prinsip transenden atau transhistoris. Uniknya, Min memberikan contoh praktikal tentang kritik atas konsepsi Pancasila secara historis bahwa ada kemungkinan Pancasila dapat ditinjau dan dikritisi ulang pada dimensi normatif dan transformatifnya. Min memberikan catatan kritis bahwa tentang keberhasilan strateginya untuk membumikan normativitas teori kritis antar generasi.Penulis selanjutnya, Qusthan Abqary Hisan Firdaus, dengan penuh semangat memaparkan artikel berjudul “What Is This Thing Called Adat Logic?”. Firdaus menawarkan menginvestigasi kemungkinan logika adat, keragamannya, dan sebuah dasar pijakan melalui dua contoh adat logika Jawa dan logika Minangkabau. Hal yang menarik dari artikel ini adalah membawa kata ‘logika adat’ dengan mendekati ide tentang dialetheia di dalam logika modern, tetapi berusaha membuktikan bukan sebagai sub-divisi dari dialetheia itu sendiri. This article aims to investigate the possibility of adat logic, its variety, and a possible common ground or thesis among its own kinds. In general, the adat logic means the true contradiction between the rigidity and the reflexibility of custom. In other words, it resembles the idea of dialetheia in modern logic, but it does not mean that the adat logic is a subdivision of the former. To seek a thesis of adat logic is to discuss the Javanese and Minangkabaunese adat logics, and I transform both logics into some notations for the sake of avoiding unnecessary linguistic challenges and hurdles. Thus, I insert each notation of a particular adat logic into the general notation of adat logic. {"title":"To Believe in Historical Progress: On Axel Honneth’s Normative Grounding of Critique","authors":"Min Seong Kim","doi":"10.22146/jf.73668","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22146/jf.73668","url":null,"abstract":"One of the most ambitious contributions Axel Honneth has made to critical theory consists in his attempt to ground the normativity of critique beyond communicative reason—the normative ground of critique that had been proposed by Honneth’s predecessor at the Institut für Sozialforschung, Jürgen Habermas. Defending an affirmative stance toward historical progress is critical to Honneth’s project, which attempts to pursue the aspiration of the Frankfurt School to practice a robust form of immanent critique: for preserving the idea of progress allows Honneth to derive the validity of the underlying normative presuppositions of the existing social order, thereby securing the normative grounds of critique without relying on transcendent or transhistorical principles. Metode yang digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut adalah telaah filosofis atas konflik antara kuasa temporal dan spiritual yang menjadi konteks perdebatan mengenai kedudukan penguasa sekuler dalam hubungannya dengan otoritas keagamaan tertinggi. Dengan memeriksa respons terhadap kekuasaan mutlak gereja, terlihat adanya sejumlah alternatif berbeda yang salah satunya adalah sekularisme. Melalui penelusuran itu ditemukan bahwa sekalipun terdapat benih-benih sekularisme dalam pemikiran William Ockham, ia tetap mengandaikan paradigma religius tentang dunia yang mengasalkan sumber pembagian kewenangan temporal dan spiritual pada Tuhan, sedangkan Dante dan Marsilius Padua justru mengklaim otoritas religius dikandung dalam otoritas sekuler. Pemisahan gereja dari negara masih dilakukan dalam pengandaian penyelenggaraan ilahi di dunia. Alih-alih berambisi untuk membuat klaim yang terlalu umum tentang pemikiran Husserl, penelitian ini hanya fokus pada teori intensionalitas untuk mengetahui bagaimana komitmen metafisik Husserl di dalam teori tersebut. Penelitian ini, oleh karena itu, bertujuan untuk melakukan rekonstruksi metafisik terhadap teori intensionalitas Edmund Husserl dan kemudian membuktikan bahwa intensionalitas Husserlian lebih bercorak realis daripada idealis ataupun netral secara metafisik. Dengan menggunakan metode analisis tekstual terhadap karya-karya Husserl, penelitian ini setidaknya menghasilkan empat temuan. Pertama, intensionalitas kesadaran terhadap objeknya, dalam kerangka Husserlian, selalu dimediasi oleh makna. Kedua, objek intensi di dalam intensionalitas Husserlian itu bersifat transenden dan independen dari kesadaran. Ketiga, objek yang sama dapat diintensikan dengan mediasi makna yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan perspektif yang menyituasikan intensi. To avoid the trap of the essentialist concept of humanism, Fanon argues that our understanding of human beings needs always to be connected with the existing social structure. By utilizing a postcolonial theory as a lens of analysis, this study will explore Frantz Fanon’s existential concept of human existence and investigate his philosophical-political thoughts. This exploration is driven by these critical questions: how is Fanon’s new understanding of the existential concept of human existence, which he proposes as a more inclusive concept? How does Fanon draw the correlation between human existence and social structure? What is the significance of his thoughts to critically investigate the socio-political structure in the postcolonial Indonesia? Our critical research will focus mainly on several of Fanon’s works: The Wretched of the Earth, Toward the African Revolution, and Black Skin White Masks. His other works will certainly be considered. We will utilize a litterer critical analysis method in approaching these works of Fanon. Cases of human rights violations are a common occurrence in Indonesia. Presently, human rights violations in the country are assessed from historical and legal perspectives. However, there is little commitment or willingness on the part of the Indonesian government to protect and defend the principles of human rights. This article is attempts to utilize arguments from political philosophy that can contextualize the protection and implementation of human rights in Indonesia, through an analysis of the concept of social contract in Immanuel Kant’s political philosophy. According to Kant, freedom and equality are natural rights. This article demonstrates that Kant's social contract theory is linear with his formal moral philosophy. In his explanation, ‘contract’ is unified will.
