However, many women in Pakistan face various challenges and may need more commercial support for women's empowerment. Hence, the current study analyzes the elements influencing women's empowerment in Pakistan. The deductive technique was used in this study, and data on women's empowerment were acquired using a well-developed questionnaire. A total of 161 responses were gathered from women operating the business in Pakistan's Punjab Province (Table 1). The study found that Perceived Access Capital (PCC) and Women Empowerment (WE) have a substantial and positive influence (B=.479, P=.000), pro-innovative climate (PIC), and innovative behavior (IB) have a positive effect (B=.533, P=.000), related knowledge to experience (RKE) has a significant effect on Women Empowerment (WE) (B=.344, P=.000), and Women Empowerment (WE) has a positive effect on innovative behavior (IB) (B=.188, P=.037) (Table 5). The results also showed that innovation behavior (IB) is not moderated. Empowering women mediates innovative behavior, perceived access to financing, and commercial backing.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116268953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Workplace Ostracism (WPO) is a personal recognition and judgment of employees who are banished, ignored by coworkers, or feeling ignored within the organization. The dismissive effect of workplace ostracism on employees can be witnessed in reducing employees' work performance, creativity and stimulation of negative emotional state. In order to explore the cause and effect between workplace ostracism and work engagement, this research intends to take psychological empowerment (PE) as a mediating variable to investigate management-level employees of the top 3 banks of Pakistan, namely Habib Bank Limited (HBL), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), and United Bank Limited (UBL), and construct a research model on the association between employees' work engagement (WE) and work ostracism under the intervening effect of psychological empowerment. The study design was quantitative and carried out with a simple random sampling technique. A total of 598 responses were obtained from the management-level staff of the banks. The demographic profiles of the respondents were carried out in SPSS version 26. The correlation analysis and Structural equation model technique were used with the help of AMOS version 23. The results suggest that Workplace Ostracism is negatively linked with Work engagement and Psychological empowerment. Further, work engagement is positively correlated with Psychological empowerment. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results show that workplace ostracism negatively and significantly impacts work engagement. This negative impact was reduced after introducing Psychological empowerment as a mediator. The results of this study will be helpful to the HR department and policymakers of HBL, NBP, and UBL to understand workplace ostracism and its negativity and how to assist ostracized employees by empowering them psychologically.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128220155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its motivation came from the analysis of Pakistani drama, which does not adequately cover women's rights. Pakistani TV serials have this masculine attitude which is the leading cause of many conflicts in Pakistani society. Connell developed this hegemonic theory as a theoretical framework in this present research. Through this theory, it can be clear that hegemonic masculinity depends upon which factors and how these factors are collected together to make this hegemonic term stronger in Pakistani society. This quantitative research investigates two selected Pakistani TV serials, namely \"Rang Mahal\" and \"Qayammat\". The findings of this research make clear that hegemonic masculinity is not only a term but a disease which have deep roots in Pakistani society. And this disease infects not only people; Pakistan's norms, values, and culture are also distracted day by day. Recommendations and suggestions for future researchers are also added at the end of the research.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116082607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to find out the perspective of virtual 'Education-for-All' in higher education in Pakistan. It could not be underestimated as it was a vast job opportunity and a second opportunity for individuals. The population of this study was postgraduate learners of the Virtual University of Pakistan. The sample was drawn by using multi-staged random sampling techniques. At the first stage, 15 campuses (three from the university's own and twelve from affiliated campuses) were selected. At the second stage, 30 postgraduate students from each selected campus were selected randomly to make a total of 450 for the sample. The data was collected through a questionnaire developed on a five-pointed Likert scale. The research findings showed that the virtual education mode ensures 'Education-for-All' facilities for learners beyond gender biasness, geographical boundaries, cultural barriers, and in-service individuals. It was recommended that virtual education should expand at a large scale to provide the opportunity to the majority of the population.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124464499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Women are oppressed, dominated, and exploited in a predominantly male-dominated society. This study aims to investigate the gender prejudices that exist in the tribal patriarchal society in Pakistan. In order to highlight the remote lives of women in an overwhelmingly male-oriented society, FTDM (Fairclough's 3-Dimensional Model) is used as a lens for analysis of the novel's text. The findings of the study demonstrate that females are oppressed and subjugated emotionally, physically, and socially. Women's marginalization, oppression, and patriarchal hegemony are all deeply rooted in cultural practices. This debate focuses on women because power in discourse identifies the exact ways in which it can be exercised physically and practically in order to achieve desired results. The textual analysis reveals the pitiful condition and deplorable treatment of women in remote areas of Pakistan. Furthermore, the research reveals that FTDM demonstrates how ideological language is used and the role of persuasive strategies in the development of social relationships.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114798162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is essential to know the level of HOTS offered in the prescribed curriculum and the extent to which it is covered in exams. This study analyses the higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) introduced in the prescribed curriculum and tested in the exams. The study used a qualitative content analysis approach to analyze each chapter’s Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and exercises questions of the grade 8th science book to categorize the question statements in view of Bloom’s taxonomy and nine predetermined categories of Socratic questions. The results indicate that the prescribed curriculum has comparatively more emphasis on developing HOTS than the tested curriculum does. The book analysis showed that SLOs support HOTS incorporation, but exercise questions and Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) exams tend towards Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). Book exercises and exams should be improved and aligned with SLOs to incorporate HOTS in students. Moreover, book and exam criteria need to be revised to enhance higher-order thinking skills in students.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114397621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Practical work supports cognitive, neuromotor and attitudinal domains of learning through scientific reasoning. Laboratory apparatus availability, their functionality, usability and standard schedule in academic curricula are essential for smooth conduct of practical work. Teachers’ perceptions about practical and students’ scientific inquiry about practical work are linked with effective curriculum implementation. The current study was planned to examine the gap between intended curriculum and enacted national curriculum of physics focusing conduct of practical and the availability of laboratory apparatus. The study was descriptive in nature, following quantitative research design, and a survey method was used to frame the study. A multistage stratified random sampling technique was used to collect the data. Secondary school physics teachers, students, laboratory stock register and the national curriculum for physics were sources of the data. The sample of study consisted of 2,880 students enrolled in 10th grade. The reliability of the instrument was confirmed through calculating Cronbach’s Alpha score; 0.823. The results of the study showed moderate practice 55.8% for the conduct of practical and poor practices 20.2% for the availability of laboratory apparatus for the conduct of practical. There existed gap between theory and practical periods 8:1 in schools’ timetable. Further, the results of the independent sample t-test claimed a significant difference between urban and rural schools’ teachers in conducting practical work, urban teachers were conducting more practical as compared to rural schools’ teachers. The study recommended that government may provide funds to purchase laboratory apparatus, head-teachers ensure availability and functionality of laboratory with apparatus and physics teachers are provided training to conduct practical.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134320209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By classifying developing economies into subgroups based on income (low-income countries, lower-middle-income countries, upper-middle-income countries), as well as at the regional level (Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean), this study also tries to analyze the variation in this association at different levels of development and across different geographical regions. The study uses imbalanced panel data from 64 developing countries spanning the years 1990 to 2019 for estimation purposes and employs panel estimation techniques of fixed and random effects model. The results suggest that at the aggregate level, outward foreign direct investment has a complementary impact on the home country export performance of developing countries. Moreover, middle and upper middle-income groups of developing countries also indicate the complementary effect of investing abroad on home country exports. At the regional level, results indicate that in Asia, this complementary effect is more vital than in any other region of developing countries. It may be due to the high share of outward FDI from Asian developing countries, which leads to more exports of intermediate goods and headquarter activities from home countries. On the contrary, results indicate that OFDI substitutes for home country exports in the group of Latin America and the Caribbean countries, and these countries have a smaller and relatively more volatile share in total world outward FDI. The general complementary type relationship between OFDI and the home country's exports highlights the need to consider OFDI as a part of national development plans to attract much-needed foreign exchange reserves for the growth and development of developing countries.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115105710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
