Although this view of the organization's top management is the main cause of unemployment, it may also inhibit new talent and innovation. Aside from that, every company has to deal with staff churn. The purpose of this study was to examine the actions that lead to employees' intentions to leave their jobs and to determine the quantitative impact of organizational silence on employee turnover intentions. This study gathered responses from ten different service and manufacturing firms. Participants provided 388 responses out of a possible total of 500. Structural equation modeling has been used to examine the data using SPSS and AMOS. The outcomes of this study reported that there was a significant positive effect of organizational silence on turnover intention among employees of service and manufacturing companies in Pakistan. The study has contributed to managers making better retention policies.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114835233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dimensions of intellectual capital comprise social, human, structural and spiritual capital that were explored in relation to professional development. Data were collected from 385 respondents by using a multistage sampling technique. Quantitative data were analyzed by using SPSS. The analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between intellectual capital and teachers’ professional development. Teachers’ intellectual capital comprises knowledge related to intangible assets embedded in an educational institution and relationships with other professionals and stakeholders via teams, groups, and networks to enhance their professional development. The results also showed that teachers spend considerable time over building their social, human, spiritual and structural capitals that aid them in materializing their goals pertaining to the professional development. Teachers with strong social ties and networks tend to have more opportunities at their disposal both in public and private sector institutions.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127742523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

School leaders work in instituting a learning climate in ways that assist a broad understanding of the effectiveness through the participation, learning, and achievement of students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. There is little research about how a leadership role can assist in coping with the challenges varying according to contextual differences. Research under study furnished the reliance that different leadership styles can help to play a mediating role by carefully planning to overcome all pressure on transforming policy into practice to integrate values. Inferential statistics were applied using factor analysis, correlation, and multivariate regression. The research yielded five leadership styles that successful principals practiced: delegation, commanding, participative, cultural, and moral leadership styles. The commanding leadership style of principals is more effective in fixing responsibility to accountability, while the participative leadership style of teachers contributes to school improvement. However, a collaborative leadership style contributes to leadership effectiveness. The results indicate that a lack of leadership-oriented practices is still problematic for schools, and this challenge alone can negatively affect school improvement.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126707912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical framework includes the Alienation Theory by Charles Reitz (2000), the Resilience Theory by Luthans et al. (2006) and the concept of Female Friendship by Elizabeth Abel (1981). The wearisome experience of the women in both of these novels is such a situation that they form mutual connections to compensate for the loss of mother/father love, face harsh social circumstances, and fight against the challenges created by gender differences. Female friendship becomes a powerful tool that helps women in combatting patriarchal oppression and a weapon of struggle to be free from societal pressures which give them a sense that they are objects. Toni Morrison's Paradise, by portraying the failure of women's relationships, exposes the ubiquitous power of patriarchy and relevant challenges. Even then, there is a spiritual kind of optimism that the death of women is in fact a future prediction of women's freedom from patriarchy. Similarly, Khaled Hosseini ends A Thousand Splendid Suns on an optimistic note that a woman builds a home for abandoned and deserted women. Thus the women show resilience in hard times by making mutual bonds and then struggling for liberation. It signifies that both of these writers have affiliations with feministic ideals of women's liberation. This study lays the foundation for further research in resilience studies in combination with alienation and female friendship in these novelists.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129210764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, bullying is a red wolf for organizations by affecting employee performance. One of the most critical organizations affected by bullying is healthcare facilities. The competence, coordination, and mental, physical and social relations of healthcare workers determine their work performance during duty hours and is a matter of life and death for ailing patients. This research paper tries to identify the prevalence and intensity of workplace bullying among employees. For this study, the collection of data was carried out from 318 hospital working employees. The findings reveal a higher prevalence in the targets found through negative acts behavior than self-identified as a target. Besides, this study explores that the intensity of bullying is the same in all groups, i.e. targets, witnesses and non-exposed employees. The results show that workplace bullying affects the work quality of employees and its a negative impact on work performance.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126473409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

People nowadays are more concerned about the issues and events happening in the country and worldwide. Media depicts the picture of the entire world to every individual, and it also shapes their ideas. This study aimed to analyze Pakistani edible oil company advertisements from the perspective of Fairclough’s three-dimensional model of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The study ascertained how advertisers convince customers to buy the products using certain linguistic choices in a specific context. In order to achieve this purpose, the researcher selected ads from a Pakistani edible oil company named Kashmir Premium Gold Oil. The theoretical framework opted for this study was Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (1993). This framework has been used as it shows the connection between social practices and the properties of language. Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework includes three levels of discourse: text, discursive practices, and social practices. The findings show how the ideology of the consumer can be changed by repetition of the advertisement in popular local TV channels and local magazines. The advertisements show an ideal lifestyle and manipulate the customers’ mindset that whatever they have been shown and said through advertisement is true as the advertiser makes them realize that the product was only for their health and better life. Thus, the current study revealed that the language used in the advertisements served as a tool to control the minds of the people.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126341574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the sample data of 170 non-financial companies ranging from 2008 to 2018 enlisted on the Pakistan Stock Exchange is separated into groups based on firm size, ownership type (family & non-family), and levels of corporate governance so as to analyze pay-performance link. Performance is assessed using return on equity, return on assets, and Tobin's Q, along with firm size, debt ratio, and stock beta serving as the control variables. The results of the study are determined by the Fixed Effect Model and Dynamic GMM-Difference. The results show that a company's performance has a significant impact on the CEO's remuneration. Vice versa results are found on the firm’s size and debt ratio. Furthermore, the results show that family businesses pay their CEOs for performing more in case of return on equity. Similarly, in the case of Tobin Q, return on asset, return on equity, and corporate governance, mixed conclusions are drawn in the case of small, medium, and large size firms.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127627212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To evaluate the impact of performance mechanism for measuring employee performance was the main objective of this study, with a focus on Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL). The independent variable in this research is the Performance appraisal system, and the dependent variable is employee productivity. The research design used in this study was a descriptive survey. The structured questionnaires for this study were adapted and developed on a five-point Likert scale and distributed randomly to non-managerial employees. The number of respondents in this research study is 210 non-managerial employees and their responses are analyzed in Smart PLS 3 software. The study concluded that an effective performance appraisal system allows employees to share their thoughts and expectations for achieving the company's strategic goals. The ability of a company to achieve its objectives and improve its workers' productivity is influenced by its performance appraisal system. Employee productivity may increase if evaluation feedback is effective. Both measurement and structural model assessments and P-values are considerable, and the results demonstrate significant and favorable results so the study concluded that an effective performance appraisal system improves employee productivity in an organization.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122742684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially the governance structures (school being unit of analysis for improvement) influencing school and learning atmosphere. The proposed study focuses on scrutinizing these changes regarding school leadership in the era of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Pakistan. Leadership is concerned with how Head Teachers (HTs) promote, manage, and monitor the teachers' pedagogical content knowledge and skills using ICT to support student learning. These structural changes have created an engaging, prolific, and fruitful rationale for researchers to discuss how the policy-mandated initiatives impact leadership for learning mainly in primary schools. A qualitative case study of district Hafizabad opted as the methodology. Thirty-two semi-structured interviews were conducted, twenty-five with the HTs, seven with Assistant Education Officers, and the district supervisory staff. Thematic analysis was applied to reduce data and reach conclusions. There was an improvement in teaching-learning practices in school, but the pace of development could be faster. As a precursor to further research, this article highlighted gaps in policy and implementation for school improvement.","PeriodicalId":322074,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences Advancement","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121147547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
