This type of research is a mixed method with the purposive sampling technique. The samples were 50 students of Universitas Jambi majoring physics education a regular class A and regular class B 2020 who took the mathematical physics II course. The data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, then analyzed using descriptive statistics for the questionnaires and Miles and Huberman’s analysis for the interview results. The findings show that the majority of the students believe the creation of this e-module is a very good idea. This is proven by the results of descriptive statistics, where the average value is 18,0 and is in the required category. The quantitative findings are strengthened by the qualitative ones from interview, which show that the majority of respondents support the creation of this e-module. The results indicate that the students require additional learning resources to fully comprehend the lessons in the Mathematical Physics II e-module. Students can learn independently in mathematical physics course by using e-modules. The future studies on mathematical physics e-modules can use this study as a guide.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45604977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reconstruction of indigenous knowledge (indigenious science) of Dieng Plateau people is hardly integrated into science learning. Meanwhile, creative thinking skills as a demand for 21st century skills are urgently needed in students' lives. One of the learning models recommended by the 2013 curriculum is the inquiry lesson model. The ILESSI-DCF (Inquiry Lesson Based Ethno Socioscientific Issues-Dieng Culture Festival) model is an inquiry model constructed with the Socioscientif Issues (SSI) strategy and an ethnoscientific approach. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the ILESSI-DCF (Confrontation, Observation, Recognition, Explanation, Application) syntax in promoting creative thinking skills. The research method used quasi-experimental with the type of independent sample t-statistical design. The research sample consisted of two MA (Madrasah Aliyah) namely MA A, totaling 60 students (experimental group 29 students, control group 31 students), and MA B totaling 64 (sixty four) students (experimental group 32 students, control group 32 students). The data collection method used creative thinking skills test questions. The data analysis technique used SPSS 25.0 on the MANOVA test to analyze the extent to which each syntax of the ILESSI-DCF Model contributed. The results showed that the overall contribution of each syntax of the ILESSI-DCF Model was effective in promoting creative thinking skills. The contribution of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax has the greatest contribution to syntax 3, namely the reconstruction of students in MA A with a mean of 12.10 when compared to the other syntaxes, while the lowest contribution to syntax 1 Confrontation in MA B with 9.68. The results of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax contribution very diverse and being influenced by differences in students' cultural backgrounds in reconstructing science action. The implications of research into the contribution of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax to the ability to reconstruct people's original science into scientific knowledge is very important for realizing character education that respects diversity through the creative thinking skills of MA students.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43655951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The location of this research was in a senior high school in Bandung District, Indonesia. The subjects of this research were physics teachers and students of that school enrolled in 2020/ 2021. This research was a case study, the data of which were collected through interviews, observation, and questionnaire. Interviews and observation were focused to gather information due to the school facilities supporting the implementation of NodeMCU-based bifocal modeling physics practicum. Questionnaire was used to reveal the readiness of students in accepting implementation of NodeMCU-based bifocal modeling physics practicum. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the school facilities meet technical specifications of NodeMCU, so the implementation of NodeMCU-based bifocal modeling physics practicum may be potentially supported by the school facilities; most students also own facilities (smartphones and laptops/ computers) which may be potentially utilized as output peripherals for displaying visualized physics phenomena and simulated physics data from a tool of NodeMCU-based bifocal modeling physics practicum; students are willing to accept the implementation of NodeMCU-based bifocal modeling physics practicum in physics learning, because it can improve the quality of physics learning, improve the motivation of students to learn physics, and help students to easily understand physics concepts.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42052768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The uncovered pan contained water which was subsequently heated on a hot plate. The water was heated at ambient temperature and normal atmospheric pressure to see that the temperature rose exponentially. Conversely, the temperature of hot water decreased exponentially when the heat source was switched off. The model for increasing and decreasing water temperature is following the Newton's law of cooling and heating. It was proven that the experimental data highly fit theoretical models. The temperature increment constant (ka) and the temperature decrement constant (kd) determined the rate of temperature changes. Low values of ka and kd led to the slow change in the temperature, either the increase or the decrease in the water temperature and vice versa. The ka > kd was observed for all given conditions so that the increasing rate in the water temperature was faster than its decrease. The result of this study can be applied as an example of contextual learning of physics for university students.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":"727 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41284279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employed a descriptive survey method of research. The study sample consisted of 100 pre-service physics teachers from five teacher education colleges during the academic year 2021/21. The study used preliminary data from a PhD dissertation that was gathered by administering a conceptual understanding test on electricity and magnetism, which contained 32 items adapted from standardized tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one sample t-tests, independent samples t-tests, and one-way ANOVA. The results of the one sample t-test showed that the conceptual understanding test scores for electricity and magnetism were considerably below 50 and 70 which are the national standard pass mark points and the baseline for certification of competency to the teaching profession, respectively. ANOVA analysis revealed that there was a statistically significant mean difference among the pre-service physics teachers in the colleges. The post hoc test analysis showed that there was a statistically significant mean difference between pre-service teachers from two colleges. The independent samples t-test revealed that there was statistically significant mean difference between test scores of males and females in favor of male pre-service physics teachers. In addition, the participation of female candidates was too low compared to their male counterparts. In conclusion, the achievement of pre-service physics teachers was below the expected values; differences among colleges were detected; and there was an achievement and participation imbalance in relation to gender, though consecutive measures were taken. Based on the conclusions, recommendations are given that could be applicable.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44287407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We argue that the implementation of this approach will contribute to the enhancement of students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. By enhancing those two aspects, we intend to contribute to their development of physics identity and physics teacher identity. We illustrate how this MR approach is applied in the classroom and describe how the relationship between the aspects of this approach interacts with physics identity and physics teacher identity. During lessons the teacher used real-life examples and students were encouraged to use different representations when they solved problems in small groups. The students realized that learning physics could involve many representations and might increase their interest to physics. However, we found some situations that did not match our expectations. For instance, most of the students were more interested when the problems were in the form of mathematical representation. In addition, we found that some students were inactive in the class. Therefore, it is necessary to think as educators about how to provide a positive learning experience to stimulate the development of student's identity. This work exemplifies how physics educators can stimulate physics and physics teacher identity formation in their physics courses as a preparation for future physics teachers.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46604001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Obstacles of practicum facilities faced by students can be overcome by using sensor on smartphones as a measuring tool. In this study, the use of the accelerometer sensor on a smartphone has been carried out to analyze the concept of momentum and impulse through the collision of two toy cars. Two toy cars A and B with smartphones attached have their respective masses of m1 0.31345 kg and m2 0.32116 kg. Car A was idle and car B was moved until it collided car A. In the event of a collision, the accelerometer sensor recorded acceleration data (a) versus time (t). Data (a) versus time (t) was represented in the form of a curve. Next, the data were analyzed. From the graph obtained data t1 =1.237 seconds, when car B started to exert a contact force on car A. The contact time between cars was t = 0.025 seconds. The maximum acceleration experienced by car A during a collision was a = 27.919 m/s2. From the area of the curve (a) vs (t) the impulse value was 0.1217 (N. sec) which is also the value of the change in momentum of car A, with car A's speed after the collision of 0.427 m/s. Thus, the accelerometer sensor on a smartphone can be used to assist students in finding important concepts through practical activities. The use of the accelerometer sensor is expected to help students to facilitate understanding the concepts of momentum and impulse.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45855253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The program consists of 63 multiple choice questions with feedback made in 3 packages (one package each week). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the program. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The applied experimental design is a one group pretest-posttest design. The program was given for 3 weeks by giving 1 recitation package at each meeting (there are 21 questions for every package). The study was conducted on 38 Physics Education students’ who enrolled the Material and Learning Physics I course. The pretest-posttest questions consisted of 15 reasoned multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed by determining descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, N-gain, and d-effect size. The research found that the program significantly improved students’ conceptual understanding with N-gain of 0.498 and d-effect size of 1.559. These results indicate that the provision of recitation programs can improve students' conceptual understanding on force and motion, especially in determining the F(t) graph from the v(t) graph, where initially the ability to solve problems in the form of graphical representations is one of the difficult matters for students.","PeriodicalId":32065,"journal":{"name":"Momentum Physics Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47348958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
