Statistical methods can be employed for the task with low computational resources, but in a diverse natural environment, it fails to label many complicated objects. Deep learning methods are quite popular now for high accuracy but dense semantic segmentation at pixel level accuracy is very resource-intensive and not suitable for robot vision. Proposed methodology merges the best of both worlds to semantically label superpixels computed by a statistical method, with a deep net. The deep convolution network is novel in its use of superpixels in different fields of vision. The methodology is tested on the Pascal VOC dataset and compared with recent popular approaches. The results show that the proposed methodology is on par with the best results.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124617542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Dadda Multiplier much alike to a Wallace Multiplier. The above multipliers are used to reduce the partial products but Dadda Multiplier is quite faster when compared to other multipliers as it requires few gates than Wallace Multiplier and thus leads to lower power consumption. The compressors used here has it’s own accuracy level in approximate mode with variable delay and less power consumption. The proposed multiplier can also perform exact operation but 1.5625% error for average case. Synopsys Design Compiler using SCL 180nm CMOS technology was used to evaluate the efficiency of the compressors in 32-bit Dadda Multiplier and compared with other 4, 8 and 16-bit Dadda multipliers. The comparative study results depicts around 59.5%, 54.5% and 14% decrease in power consumption with an area of 17504 µm2.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121124253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Major focus of the work is on the design of descriptor for the video sequence. Frames are first represented by commonly used histogram of oriented gradients and histogram of flows. Using these histograms, a semi-detailed frame level descriptor is formed. It is further augmented by incorporating contextual information. Frame level descriptors are then summarized to obtain the sequence level features that are utilized in activity recognition. SVM classifier is used for recognition. Proposed methodology is simple enough and free from any tracking and intensive details. Experiment is done on the KTH dataset. Performance of the proposed descriptors and their combinations are studied. Result indicates the potential of proposed features along with the contextual information. Comparison with a number of existing systems show that the performance of the proposed methodology is comparable.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127020992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Video skimming is one of the popular ways to represent a summary of a full-length video. This work describes an unsupervised technique that automatically extracts the important clips from an input video and generates a summarized version of that video. The proposed scheme of video skimming is composed of three parts: extraction of motion based features, selection of important clips, detection, and removal of the shot boundary, if any, within a clip. Each frame is represented by a 32-dimensional feature vector that is generated using the slope and magnitude of the motion vectors. A set of representative frames of the entire video is obtained using the k-means clustering followed by the Maximal Spanning Tree (MxST). These representative frames are the center point of the clips to be generated. A window is considered around these representative frames and the clip is formed. A shot boundary may exist within the clip. To detect such a shot boundary, a method is proposed considering the variations present in the pixel intensities of the frames of a clip. The variation among the frames is captured using the standard deviation of the distribution of the pixel intensities. The clips are reformed in case the boundary is detected. Finally, the skim is generated by concatenating extracted video clips in a sequential manner. The obtained video summaries are concise and the proper representation of the input videos. The experiment is performed on two benchmark datasets namely SumMe and TVSum. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133736972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts are mostly focused on the evaluation the statistical properties or building models using the data in the window. Less focus has been given in arriving at the size of the window length. This paper presents a Fourier analysis based mechanism to determine the window length and also presents a simple but novel algorithm for drift detection. The work is termed as Fourier Inspired Windows for Concept Drift detection (FIWCD). Fourier-inspired window slides over the stream till no drift are suspected and model parameters are gradually updated as and when required. Once a drift is suspected, the trend is observed and new model parameters are computed for the transitory phase. The transitory model and previous concept model are compared to confirm or reject the drift. Performance of proposed drift detection technique has also been compared with two popular drift detection techniques namely, Change Point Detection and Hypothesis Testing. Experiment with three commonly used public data sets reflects that FIWCD exhibits better resemblance to the ground truth.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"165 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132267192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed radiator is working at 5.76GHz i.e. the WLAN band. The proposed structure has been developed systematically starting from the addition of a reflector to a monopole to enhance the gain. The proposed reflector backed Yagi-Uda structure has been modified to act as an end-fire array antenna. The modification has been achieved by addition of a director in front of the monopole radiator. Considerable gain has been achieved upon the addition of the director as compared with the case of the addition of the reflector only.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122804760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently charging strategy of those vehicles is coming up with great concern. As stochastic charging activities of EVs can greatly stress the distribution system causing grid overloading, peak load increasing, a scheduling of EV charging is needed. On the other side, power system load curve smoothing is needed always for load following, frequency regulation and Voltage regulation. After going through a detailed case study of the city Kolkata, India, a multi aggregator based online fuzzy coordination algorithm (OL-FCA) for charging plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in smart grid networks with maximum efficient usage of rooftop PV generation is presented here. It is showed that this kind of harmonization of power industry and transport industry can significantly improve the load factor by 87 percent ensuring proper utilization of clean energy and load ripple reduction.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125081945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An existing squirrel cage induction motor used for electric fork-lift application has been initially studied for obtaining the required performance metrics. Similar performance indices have been achieved out of a proposed IPMSM design that has been presented. The primary design objective has been to obtain (i) the optimum dimensions and shape of the buried permanent magnet with its placement details in the rotor, and (ii) the winding arrangement in the stator which would be capable of delivering the same torque and speed characteristics at better efficiency maintaining the same stator outer diameter, number of slots, bore diameter and the shaft diameter as that of the existing squirrel cage induction motor used for the same application. An analytical approach based design of an IPMSM, employing a bottom-up approach, is presented, based on the Constant Power Speed Range (CPSR) and other performance requirements. A few possible designs verified by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) are compared, which meet all the performance specifications, and, eventually the finally accepted design is presented.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128118858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
