This study aims to uncover the meaning behind the sign and how social criticism is depicted in the animation of the Tekotok’s Hones Translator Corruptor. This study uses a critical paradigm approach and used Roland Barthes’ Semiotics as a theory to uncover the meaning in the animation and discover myths. The research shows that Tekotok’s Hones Translator Corruptor displays social criticism that often occurs in real life, such as satire about the corruptor’s behavior, corruption and power relationship, and the lack of punishment for perpetrators of corruption. The myth found in the Tekotok animation is that the first actor who acts feels like a victim to be released from prosecution. The second asks questions about people in lower positions.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46229175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because the relationship between local media and regional authorities is still prone to conflict, complex, and bound by certain emotional-cultural aspects. Using critical discourse analysis, this study examines specifically the editorial texts of two local mainstream newspapers, Flores Pos and Pos Kupang, related to some strategic issues, especially corruption issues, within the Provincial Government of NTT. The study found that the reality of local media can be co-opted by the interests of media owners and local governments. It also confirms that local media are not absolutely neutral or interest-free. The neutrality of local mass media is also influenced by the dominance of media owners who have power relations with regional authorities.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48385394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The convergence-deconvergence-coexistence triad is proposed as the better framework to understand such phenomenon. Therefore, this article implements this triadic interaction to analyze the evolution of Liputan6.com, one of the most prominent online news media in Indonesia. This study employs in-depth interviews, observation, and document/archive analysis. This study identifies three periods of development of Liputan6.com since its establishment in 2000, and each period has different relation dynamics of the three aspects within the triad framework. By applying the convergence-deconvergence-coexistence triadic perspective, this article offers a multifaceted and multilayer analysis of the evolution of online news media such as Liputan6.com.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48084464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some Indonesians might not know that the SARA information they get is factual or hoaxes, which can lead to prejudice. Conflict in Tanjung Balai and Depok shows that exposure to SARA hoaxes can affect individual behavior. This study aims to describe individual experiences in interacting with SARA information and performing conflict management. This study uses phenomenological methods and in-depth interview instruments, allowing researchers to interact with the world of the informants’ conscious experiences. The results indicate that the informants access various information related to the main activities. The internet has become the preferred media gratification. From the information-seeking activities, some SARA information was found, and some SARA information were hoaxes. SARA hoax has three meanings and has the potential to cause conflict. Hence, informants applied different conflict management styles in dealing with conflicts that arose.","PeriodicalId":31734,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Aspikom","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46965212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to see how Tempo magazine frames its news about government policies in dealing with the second wave of COVID-19 in Indonesia. This research uses Robert M. Entman’s framing analysis model. The results showed that the government is inconsiderate and irresponsive to the current conditions of COVID-19. Accordingly, the government is inconsistent in implementing PPKM (lockdown). They are too focused on an economic recovery that they are planning on the COVID-19 therapeutic drugs and vaccination business, and there is a lack of coordination in the government body.
